CORRECTION: At 3:04, I say that the Medusa swarm size is 92 thargons, but the actual size is 96 thargons. Even worse.
I actually like the text to speech style voice, it gave the video its own kind of vibe adding to the comedy a bit instead of the same old "whats up youtube (insert typical name) here with another" you get it
Most people really underappreciate the interdictors ability to die, it's my favorite one.

With all shard cannons I can damage it fast enough that I can kill a cyclops when it still has 1 heart left

Decided to hop back into Elite Dangerous recently, I'm not even close to being able to fight Thargoids but this video popped up on my recommendations. Loved it. Thanks for all the tips, as well :)
Apparently nowadays we have Guardian-tech weaponry that's even more effective at taking out 'goids. I have no idea how to acquire them yet, though.
As for ships, is an Imperial Clipper recommendable for fighting 'goids? Should I just upgrade to the Cutter? Or get something else altogether? I'm focusing on Gutamaya ships now because I just love their design...
I use a shieldless krait mk 2 and I can solo a cyclops pretty quick

Hey thanks mate! This video has become fairly dated, but it at least covers all of the cyclops special attacks that it uses. Fortunately, this guide is dated in a way that the methods used here are actually the HARD way of fighting. The new guardian weapons and decontamination limpets help a lot. They buffed heat damage in 3.0, so it is better to remove caustic damage with the limpet instead of letting it cook your ship over time (it only takes about 10 seconds to remove the effect to distract the goid with a fighter or just run away for a bit while repairing).
I also just kill the swarm with flak now instead of trying to distract it, because if the fighter distracting the swarm dies, the swarm can quickly turn on you when you really don't want it to.
@@dinomeat6705 for my build I can solo a cyclops pretty fast, I actually take more damage if I stop fighting the goid to handle the swarm.
The least amount of damage I took from a goid was 8% of my hull
I have been studying so many Thargoid videos I should have a degree. If only I put this kind of effort into my job.

I have only ever been attacked by scouts. Cyclopids only ever shine their lights / bellow / scan me, and amble about for a bit...then leave.
They're fascinating to watch.

I've only died a few times in my gunship and assault ship, so I've probably paid somewhere around 50-60m in rebuys because of death by thargoid. Once I started using the corvette, I stopped dying. The corvette can have about twice as much hull integrity as the gunship, so "sudden death" moments go away. I have always been able to escape when in the corvette, but most times I just get the kill instead.

A little update now: Decontamination limpets have been made available, that remove the goo and do a little repair, according to the Galnet article.

I have a few Meta Alloy hull reinforcements so they provide a lot of good caustic resistance
But the issue with that is: if the person being cleaned takes damage to their hull, the limpet is destroyed

My friend and I can consistently kill a cyclops when it's the two of us but we really struggle on our own...
This is the only video that has actually tempted me to play Elite: Dangerous again. Unfortunately there is absolutely no way I will ever be up to the task of grinding for the high level Federation combat ships you need to fight aliens.
Actually this video is a little outdated when it comes to ships and weapons. There have been a variety of good ships released since last December that are actually pretty good at fighting aliens, and they require no rank, only credits. One of the most popular ships to use is the krait mkII. The new alliance ships are also really good as well. New guardian weapons are also available (completely optional for cyclops, but they are much more powerful) but they do require a good amount of grind as well. Not as bad as navy rank grinding but it's not zero grind.

Do they still use the caustic missile and shutdown field? I killed 7 cyclops yesterday solo and none of them did those things

One of the worst voices I have ever heard. To read the text I had to stop and replay the video sections again to be able to read the text before it is replaced. On the other hand good info provided, but I was so frustrated with pausing and playing the video that I did not watch it to the end. No LIKE from Me! And no thumbs down either!
