Tyler Copeland true but dual toned sirens especially the 9/12 port P-10s sure are eerie and when you hear then you feel like you need to get the hell out. Thunderbolt 1000Ts do it too.
The old system was more reliable than the newer one too. The new system failed its first test and there are rumors that ASC is lowering their quality in their sirens and that's not good when your plant is in jeopardy especially considering Three Mile Island's history. For example the old system we had here in Limerick consisted of Thunderbolt 1000s and a few 1000Ts and those things are WAY louder than the new T-128s. In fact I lost some hearing for a bit from the one closest to my house (a 1000) because they are so loud and their long horn carries further. Dual tone sirens also seem to have better sound coverage than single tone sirens.
One can barely hear the cyclone in this video. The cyclone is only 1 mile away while the p-10 is a little over two miles away. Its amazing how it's 1/5 of the horse power but the cone almost doubles it in loudness
i think the cyclone you’re referring to was reverse wired, if it wasn’t than it would be significantly louder and would drown out a ton of the other sirens
I always thought that the Cyclone had a beautiful harmonious tone when hearing it from a distance. And the same goes for a 2T22/3T22. Even though its supposed to warn of immanent danger and be scary but its actually calming.
I can still hear the sick P-10. I miss the old TMI system. I don't know about the 2001s though. They're just white horns of death, and now that I listen more, that P-10s gotten worse. The ASC T-128s just ruin it. Also, why was the test so late?
Was this for an actual emergency at Three Mile Island or was this a test? Because this early in the morning or late at night is a pretty weird time to test a siren
@@benmeyer2916 I don't know exactly, But I know that if it's a street light, there would have also been either green and red lights or the amber lights would be flashing. If I would guess, I would say it's part of the sun

That reddish-orange sky is so beautiful…
Love the harmony of the old system it sounds very relaxing.
Imagine an album for these sounds.
Something about this is really relaxing. The harmony of the sirens sound so angelic
The old system sounds a lot better than the new system does.
Agreed
I could fall asleep to that.
TMI had an interesting siren system. These dual toned sirens sound much more eerie and cool than T-128s
They should have installed t-121s and t-135ac/dc's also

So true. Wish they would at least have kept the old system as a back up for if the new one failed

that sky is beautiful and one of the scariest things I have seen at the same time.

How very apocalyptic, both in sounds and in looks. Very spooky :).

The Cyclones and Penetrators are the most beautiful sound. Unlike the Tempest 128s.
It’s both beautiful and strange looking and weird looking and creepy
Those Cyclone and Allertors sounds badasses
There is no Allertor in that old system. It's the P-10. Look up the old P-10 TMI siren
its sounds creepy and a nice creepy ambienece!!! nice!
why are they going off at night/morning???
In a year this plant will shut down ... for good. It will be a bittersweet moment for a plant with a long, storied, and occasionally troubled history.
Then what a waste buying those new sirens. They should sale them to places that need them once the plants is shut down.

was this shot in the morning

I'd say if I ran the system i would do it every Saturday at noon all year round..
+Tyler Copeland here in NY Indian point tests their sirens every few months, there is no specific time or date, so I never manage to record one.

The beaver valley power station has a system of boring federal signals, Equinox’s and 2001s.
Did have banshees and allertors
