  • This is a real basic one but if you don't know you don't know.
    One thing I should have added was first after pumping it up listen for a hiss but that is pretty obvious.

    I've got an even smaller leak in my front pushbike inner tyre. It goes "too soft" in about 3 weeks, whereas the rear tyre holds "adequate" pressure for months. I tested the valve with soapy water and that's not the problem (or this test is not sensitive enough to show it). My local bicycle shop is a 2 minute detour on my commute, so I just top it up using his compressor every two weeks.
    It's like any "not really right", non-critical fault... you wait to fix it until it really becomes a problem.

    Tyre plug for £2 on ebay works a treat! Very cheap and easy fix for punctures

    I was on the A27 and I felt the tell-tale sign of "Your back tyre is losing air" feeling about it. I stopped and rotated the wheel 3 times using the valve stem as a reference. I check the main tread carefully and slowly, then the sidewalls one at a time. I could not find it. Then I looked at the valve stem. It had broken away and was at an angle. I touched it and it came off.
    As a precaution I had the front valve stem replaced as they were fitted at the same time, about 4 years ago.

    Dynaplugs, a motopressor 12v mini compressor and a quality (i.e. accurate) tyre pressure gauge is what I use to both maintain correct tyre pressures and as my get out of jail free card if I get a puncture...

  • @justaguy4real

    Omg dude before removing anything suspicious, air the tire to pressure, then soapy spray all around tire for potential holes aka air bubbles. Might be multiple.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If there is multiple there will be multiple objects in the tyre or a lot of hissing. Besides what I do is fix it then air it up and check it later (before riding) if it's dropped anything you know something else is going on.

    Stop and Go plugs work a treat you would get a lot more mileage out of that tire using those to plug it.
    It also takes around 10 minutes to fix a puncture, I've been using them for a few years now no problems.
    You plug it then use a little squirt from a can of tire weld and the repair will last till the end of the tire, if you don't thrash around it will be good but they are only rated up to 50 mph, though I have taken it up to 70 mph, I would say and beyond but as the legal limit is 70 that's as fast as I have taken it nudge nudge wink wink.
    I have the strings as well but personally I don't like them and I'm not that impressed.
    Simple fast and effective method to repair a puncture, oh and a hell of a lot cheaper than taking it to the shop.

    Spicy I would ask this on patron but I don't want to clog up the board. Is a CBT actually enough for a person to ride. Because I feel nervous that I won't be ready after the CBT. Thanks

      @chrisriches7906 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just remember, if you pass you’re cbt and your nervous about riding, speak to your instructor and ask if they could take you out a few more lessons until you build your confidence! Don’t rush anything take it at your own pace

      @@chrisriches7906 ok thanks, but aren't CBT sessions £100, so everytime I go out wouldn't it cost £100 (which I don't think I can afford if I want to purchase a bike)👍

      @@obvio______3875 My local instructor was £30 per hour for riding experience (that was 2 years ago) - I doubt the price has increased significantly and they'll probably be happy (because of the current "climate"/situation) with the additional business
      HTH
      Even after 2 years on full bike licence I can still end up having confidence issues caused by the odd cager not using their mirror (or similar) - I do what I did when taking my DA Mod 1 - slow down/stop, breath deeply and slowly, contemplate/think/access... then ride on.

    • @chrisriches7906
      @chrisriches7906 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      And just remember the CBT isn’t a pass/fail if your instructor doesn’t think you’re safe enough/capable/nervous they can advise you to come back the next day (or when they’re free) for a few hours and continue the bit of training you need until you’re competent enough to be issued with your certificate.
      Okay I understand some instructors are in it for the money but 99% you will meet are bikers at heart and want you to be confidant and SAFE before you part ways not just grab your money and run.

    Spicy, have you got a video about braking and bedding in tyres for new riders?

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  ปีที่แล้ว

      kinda but I think it is very old, simple answer is on dry roads you can ride pretty normally, wet road be very carful. Just go easy for the first few miles and then progressively increase lean angle on corners. What you are really doing is getting the tyres though some heat cycles (warming up and cooling down after riding) This happens most from accelerating and braking, don't weave side to side it wont help much.

    I’ve got a microscopic puncture it looks like, bubbles were so tiny it would be easy to miss, not sure what the best course of action would be, taking it to the garage either way but still curious if there were cheaper fixes.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depending what tyre front or back and placement of the hole is critical to if it can/should be repaired. Shops tend to air on the side of no in the UK to sell you a tyre. This is a way to fix a rear tyre punched on the centre line but it is not supposed to be a long term fix. th-cam.com/video/fqB42UVAoP8/w-d-xo.html
