  • You are out and about enjoying your ride and then you get a screw in the back end! Ain't nobody got time for that! This was the perfect opportunity to find out if you can use Tyreweld on a motorcycle puncture just to get you home? It in not sold for or intended to be used with motorcycles but I have always wondered would it work.
    I take no responsibly if you try this and have any problems. I would also be far more cautious if it were the front and not the rear!

    Interesting video and nice to know it gets you out of trouble! Anyway few years back I bought one of those ‘mushroom’ plug tyre puncture repair kits, it’s a little tricky to do on the roadside but it’s a much better and safer fix. Also whilst not recommended I rode the tyre on that repair plug for a few thousand miles before needing to change the tyre.

    Tried the same stuff here in OZ. It states too ride for 30km at avarage speed too rotate the foam and seal propper. Then add air as soon as possible. It also stated it can be driven on for multiple 100 miles/km's
    Didnt work for me as i didn't have a hole in my rear as i thought. In my case it was a stuffed valve and the foam exited the tire between the rim and valve.
    I didn't notice Some of it got on my exhaust and burnt too my chrome exhaust.... looked like burned cheese hahaha.
    I carry one with me for a puncture emergencie fix now.

  • @carlarthur4442
    @carlarthur4442 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you stick a tube in you are supposed to get a mushroom plug , but for safety I'd get a new tyre ,. You can get something called glup. Which you can use before you get a puncture , you let the air out of your tyre first , then put the glup in and then put the required pressure in , it's a preventative so if you run over something like a nail or screw it seals the tyre from the inside .

    Halfords were mistaken about turning it off. I swear by Tyreweld, and on the occasions that I've used it I've only put half in then turned off the nozzle. I would disagree about using it on a bike with an inner tube. I used it in an emergency on my Dragstar and it was a mistake, didn't work at all. I've used it on a tyre with no inner tube, on a car admittedly, and never touched the tyre again until I needed to change it anyway. You were lucky to get home so a good result.

    If you made your wheels tubeless you could fix a puncture in about 10 minutes with the stop and go system, I use it all the time when ever I get a puncture.
    But I also use a little of the foam which makes it a permanent fix with a recommended max speed of 50 which I have exceeded up to 70 mph not advised to do though.
    But if you are mostly riding around town or at slower speeds the stop and go works extremely well, and each puncture costs pennies to fix.

    In the 'old days' (before 'elf 'n safety and legal liability concerns) that tyre repair place you broke down next to might have plugged that tyre and patched the tube. But today, not a chance!
    Interestingly in the UK the regulations state that a repair should be made to a hole no bigger than 3mm on a motorcycle tyre. That size damage is very small, and many punctures (including that screw puncture?) are considerably larger. Lucky you had a Halfords not too far away...

  • @PaulGSXR

    If you just change the tube, make sure you get the tyre plugged too as water will get into the belts and rust them, causing a big, nasty bulge. And by plugged I dont mean the push in types, as it will just rub a hole in the tube over time. Get a mushroom plug and do it that way.

It eventually corrodes the alloy leading to pressure loss at the rim of the tyre. It happened to my old lady's harley. If you change youre tyres every couple of years it and renew the goop ( obviously) it should be no problem.

    A tubed tyre? Do they sell something called "Finnilec" which is a silicone spay (in a can) that you inject straight into the valve and fill the tube? Okay so "tyreweld" is the same stuff I was describing. That's the sort of thing we used to carry in the 1970's and 80's before we had tubeless tyres. Its brilliant and really does save your bacon. You could take the screw out and it still should work. So well in fact that you could drive around on it for ages no sweat. There is another type for tubeless tyres now I am told which doesn't leave any residue. You are allowed to add air to it if it doesn't seem hard enough. Dude....come on.....A warm tyre after riding? It’s basically squirty cream. That’s far cheaper in tesco.

    Pretty sure you should have removed the screw and blow the tyre up with the pucture at the bottom. Would have sealed much better

      Yes I did think this after, however it's a good test for a leak you can't find.

    Tyres with inner tubes are a pain in the butt... If you had tubeless tyre there is a brilliant product called "tyre safe" or "puncture safe".. you put it in tyre when you get it...and IF you get anything in your tyre...just pull it out..the stuff in the tyre will seal it instantly...problem solved. Its been put in every bike I've owned for the last 10 years or so... Its the one thing I'd recommend using. Look it up on TH-cam..

    Doesn't always work !...I tried it twice and worked for about 1 mile.Depends on the size of the hole and wether you have an inner tube. With Inner tube is less effective

    Do not use in tubeless tyres , use a plug kit instead as when you come to have new tyre and the tyre fim find out they will refuse to change it as its to much mess to clean and they will charge you £50 an hour

      @@spicy110 The hole was like the size of a 2p probably doable but luckily it happened right near a garage, just also unlucky that I had no other way of getting home and didn't want to wait ages for help 😭

    you're suppose to remove the nail first.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I talked about why I didn't do that in this video. Your not supposed to use it on tubbed tyres that's a bigger issue here haha

    • @spicy110

      Yes I believe I mentioned I was leaving it in and it should be taken out but as this is a tubed tyre I thought it unlikely to work.

  • @zorsenothorse

    DO NOT USE THIS, if you have tubeless, will ruin your tire inside and need a whole new one, the guys in shop who patch it will hate you, if you can get away without a new tire
    Buy a tubeless tire repair kit much cheaper and better, some even come with mini air bottle to refill tire till you can pump it at a petrol garage
    Please do no fill your motorcycle tire with this shit
