Yes when assessed values go down the overall tax load shooed decrease however depending on the municipalities financial needs they may raise the tax/mill rate at that time to keep taxes the same. I don’t remember our taxes goes down during the recession, however the assessed values did. I don’t remember them going up during that time either. Only since price started increasing again in about 2013.
