Spent the last few nights following and made myself one! I went with an unfinished look because i like how it looks better and it was easier😂, this was my first project ever! Thanks so much.. had a hard time getting it as smooth as yours but i assume that's a skill that comes with time..
Thanks for the tip to help those with arthritis!!! This is the first video I watched when I searched for making a spoon with a dremel! I think it’s the only one I need to watch!! 🫶🏼
Never seen your videos before but the almighty algorithm seems to have liked this one, suggested it to me and I'm happy I watched it. I've had the tools to do this for some time but have never tried to to something like this before so now I kind of want to. I also happen to have a Laser engraver so I may be able to carve something nice then personalize it further or do something like this for gifts. I've always loved "making things" so this looks like a fun hobby to explore, though cautiously since it seems like could be easy to get careless and skin part of your hand.
I love this hobby - it’s pretty accessible since it doesn’t require a lot of equipment. Caution is good, I’ve slipped up a couple times but nothing too bad. Do you like the laser engraver? I was thinking about getting one
I love your videos! I am an absolute beginner at woodcarving and I only have a little Dremel Stylo, but seeing you do all these cool things with only a dremel and some bits gives me hope to make something amazing some day too. The spoon looks great, keep up the good work! Best regards from Brazil!
@@LogsCarvingClub i do have Dremel Stylo. I love it, but it's not really that powerful and it will lose speed easy under pressure. I mostly use it for detail engravings on wood and brass, there it's small size and lack of vibration is a huge benefit.
@@LogsCarvingClub I've only used it so far for some easy works like cutting/ carving MDF and light engraving in acrylic and brass, but I love it. It is great, but it is definitely less powerful than the other Dremels. If I'm not mistaken the max speed is 22000 rpm. It has a nice little mechanism that when you put too much pressure or the bit is struggling to cut/ engrave something, it stops itself as to not break the burr and not damage the motor. But if you'd like to check some work done with it, Matt from the channel Cornelius Creations does some carving/ engraving with it and seems like it can handle itself. Like @nekoandpiano said above, it has very little vibration so you can make some really steady lines. I hope this helped you!
I ❤️ your videos. So I wanted to tell you that I inherited a Dremel. My first project was making a cave out of sticks for my daughters mice. I burned the wood more than carved it. But the mice love it. And if it weren't for you, I would never have had the confidence to even try! ☺️
Great video! I love the fact that you throw in little details about what to do and what not to do such as “go in this direction when using this tool” I’m having the hardest time figuring out what does what and when it skips Of course I’m new to all of this and just got my dremels Do you have any videos that go through some bits and how to use them ? I didn’t see one
Thank you! I do have one - it’s from about a year ago. There’s also the general ‘how to use a dremel’ one that covers some bits, but I don’t remember it very well
I have a rotary tool I haven't touch in over a decade. All I used to use it for was drilling tiny holes but now see that it's useful for so much more. Can you recommend an accessory kit that would have all the attachments needed for this project? I have a Harbor Freight nearby and of course there is always Amazon but I cant find a set that has everything that I can tell. Great video and nice outcome. Thanks.
Thank you for your video! I subscribed right away! I just got to open and learn how to use my dremel 3000 & I must confess I am inspired to use after watching your video! Started wood carving less than a year ago and I can’t wait to try out carving a spoon! I have a question though: do u carve indoors or outdoors and do you have a video on how to use your flexible shaft?
I carve outdoors - I also have a video on the setup for the flex shaft, but not so much how to use it if I remember correctly. Good luck carving and stay safe!
Have any of you spend months carving somthing with a file and knife, then got an old dremmel from your Dad. I never knew about a thing called a dremmel but it shure is handy! :D
Great work. I love all things carving. Still very much a beginner but have carved many spoons by hand. I now own a dremel 4000 and love it. I've carved a few wood spirits and am currently working on a mahogany love spoon for my partner. Is there somewhere I can send you a pic of it? Anyway, new subscribers here. Can't wait to watch .ore of your content. Cheers 👊
Thank you Tim! I think I’ll make an email account and include it in a future video for people who want to send pictures, so stay tuned! What are you carving into the love spoon?
Thanks for the lesson on the Dremel 4300. I have a 3000 Dremel, w a number chart that goes up to 10. Also I have some of the same tools & bits that you’ve used. I like that little do-hickey small thing for sensitive hands, maybe I could get 1 of them…any suggestions on where or what kind to use? I’m gonna give it a try on the spoon soon.👩🎨🎨
Where would you get a board like this untreated? I assume most at lowes and home depot are treated and I'm brand new to dremel so i was just curious.. awesome video i love the simplicity of not using 5 $2000 tools that i don't have 😂
Thank you! That’s the goal of this channel to keep tools to a minimum. I believe I got this at a local lumber yard and just made sure it was untreated by asking the employees. Lots of times they have hardwoods that are untreated, it seems most softwoods are treated though.
Which Dremel do you think best for carving wood like you do for long periods of time? I’ve pretty much bought all the bits in your bio plus a Kutzall for a MakerX rotary tool. After using it for a bit I realized it wasn’t doing good. I recently realized I have an outlet in my new back yard so decided to look into some good corded rotary tools.
When using my dremel 4300 with a 561 and a keyless chuck it takes like 15 - 20 min to cut a half inch of red maple. its from a log and is quite fresh still but i feel like im doing something wrong. :( could u maybe give a few tips please? thank you
Love your content and just followed on Instagram. Do you know if your bits would fit on my Goaxee rotary tool? It's one of those off-brand Dremel that I bought without doing research (my bad I know) P.S. what's a good mask and pair of gloves to get as well. Right now I'm just using a regular face mask but I don't have gloves
Thanks! I’m not sure about that tool, but it would probably work. For mask I am really careful and wear a 3M p100 mask. I don’t wear gloves because I’m scared of getting them caught in a bit and twisting a finger off
Great video! Personally I’m of the belief that wooden utensils shouldn’t go in the dishwasher. I don’t have a good reason as to why not, just what I’ve always heard.
I bet they age better if you don’t, but I think I’ll just make a new one when this one gets too old. I also like to think the heat from the washer will kill the bacteria growth for when it sits dirty for too long
I can’t speak for other brands, they very well be just as good and less expensive, but I’ve only used dremels and they’ve lasted me years. I’ve had to replace the brushes on them as they age, but only one has died on me and it was covered under warranty so I got a free replacement

That's great! I'd love to see the finished product if you could email it to me. How's it working for you?
Brilliant video, very informative, thank you.
Great video. Great Spoon. Love the product!
Thank you Mark! More similar projects on the way in the coming months probably. I make a ton of these as gifts but procrastinate making videos.
Love my dremeltime spoon! Love spoon you too. Come to Brazil
Muito legal! Obrigado
Very nice simple video. No distractions or acrobatics. Thanks!
Thanks Neil! I appreciate the kind words
Spoon looked awesome. You did a great job on it
Thank you Thomas!
The video is very impressive and thorough. Details are easy to follow.
Glad you liked it! More to come
Great job…your skill is amazing I’m still learning but I’m having fun along the way!
Thanks! I love your video and calm voice over!

Great to hear Zach! Thanks for the sub
Definitely inspires me to make one now... wondering what wood my brother has on his property that I could use🤔
Cool! I'm happy you're inspired!

I'm Thinking About Carving Out
A Tablespoon Just To See If
I Can Do It. & I Might Try Carving
Out A Coffee Scooper Too.
I also want to make a coffee scooper! Seems like a great idea
Yes another video
Another soon! (Hopefully)

Still using it all the time!
Not me blowing on the screen to get rid of the dust
Not the best hobby if you like to stay clean that's for sure.

What are your thoughts on the battery dremel?
I use a couple battery powered ones but I prefer not having to wait for them to charge. Usually I don't need the portability.
and what did you cut out at the very beginning?with a simple drill bit?
No, it was the Dremel 561 multipurpose cutting bit

Hello, I find your work really very good and I have a question.
Could you send me the references of the tools you use.Thank you so much
They should all be in the description, thanks!
Oh sorry, I'm not used to it. Indeed, they are there. Thank you so much@@LogsCarvingClub
Can you tell me all the bitts you used to make that spoon please
I mention them each as they come up, but mainly the dremel 561, 562, and kutzall extreme flame burr, and the drum and disc sanders for the dremel
❤❤❤❤
Thank you!

Thank you Noel!
I heard that Dremel dies after a month or two...? Is that true or false? Is it worth the money if I plan to carve small things from wood daily?
I can’t speak for other brands, they very well be just as good and less expensive, but I’ve only used dremels and they’ve lasted me years. I’ve had to replace the brushes on them as they age, but only one has died on me and it was covered under warranty so I got a free replacement
Nice handle, it's stout and not "DAINTY" looking. I guess in a place with a lot of users, that works well!
It’s lasted really well so far! Thanks Mr. Reed

Do you sell your spoons?
Sorry Dan I don’t, my day to day lets me carve only about a month a year now which means I only do things for myself and friends and family.

Someday I'll get a proper saw. For now I'll make do.
