My dad bought a DVC membership for our family when our kids were tiny back in 2008. We lived in Chicago at the time but he wanted a DVC membership so all 12 of us could stay in a grand villa together when we went to Disney every other year. We were able to use the membership in a grand villa two times before we were shocked by his death from cancer in 2014 when he was only 63. All 12 of us moved to Florida after his passing and we were able to buy resident passes. I spent the first few years after his death just walking around the parks, watching my kids experience everything. I don’t remember much of that time because I was in such shock that he was gone but being at Disney World was definitely a coping mechanism for me. We have all continued to have great times using this gift he bought for us. The kids are now in their late teens and early 20s but we all come together to stay in the grand villa every other year. Thanks dad❤
Being able to stay at the monorail loop resorts is something I wouldn’t have done without DVC. The ability to use points instead of paying $800+ a night is fantastic.

I didn't know I needed a cry this morning, but I did. I throughly enjoy this show and you all feel like my friends. I can't wait to see you in the parks, Vero Beach, or on a tour. I joined DVC after losing my husband last year to create a legacy for my son & I. We just returned from our first stay and it was emotional & SO magical! Three days prior to our trip, I lost my dad. We traveled to Florida to bury my dad, then my mom told us to go on the trip. It was cathartic. As the Christmas Party, I was wearing a button that said "Celebrating Homecoming". Micky asked me why...I fell into is arms crying like a baby. "My husband gifted me DVC to see you...". That hug meant everything! Derek, I'm so sorry for your loss. I only have one child and it was not easy getting pregnant. Nothing in this world means more to me than being a MOM. To see it through my sons eyes this trip was SO precious. I could go on and on. Thank you ALL for bringing your heartfelt presence to this show and to our community. I loved my first trip so much...that I got "add-on-itis" and bought a resale contract with Derek. Hopefully, it passes ROFR. DVC has provided me exactly what I needed when I needed it. My mom doesn't want to leave Florida yet, so I booked another trip down to help her and stalked the system and booked a room at Bay Lake for a day before going to visit her. I am the only child, both my sisters passed away from cancer. DVC is helping me take care of mom. Peace & love to you and the DVC family this Christmas season!
Thank you for sharing these stories. We lost our son at 22 weeks pregnancy. We went to Disney after, our toddler had great grandparent time, and we went and did the grown up Disney stuff. Our next trip was 13 months later with our newborn Chloe to meet her grandparents. DVC made it all possible to let our hearts recover and remind ourselves of our vows at our Disney wedding from 1996.
Wow Derek. Disney is my healing place too. We lost my husband almost three years ago and my daughter and I both felt the need to go to our happy place. I love it for celebrations but I have also been comforted there. Getting away to Disney and the beach are both trips I need .
For us, owning DVC points (since 2011) has made it possible to visit Disney every year in January for 4 to 5 nights in a gorgeous & comfortable 1 bedroom at a beautiful resort for a fraction of the cost. We are also able to bring my mom along and she can stay with us. Going to Disney is our “cheap” vacation because in addition to our DVC points, we are Floridians and are able to drive to WDW and always wait for specially priced tickets. In addition, DVC absolutely made it possible for us to visit Aulani and the beautiful island of Oahu, my lifelong dream destination. Finally, I wanted to add that our kids, now 18 & 21 don’t really enjoy traveling with us as much as before BUT we all still agree that Disney is our best family vacation that we look forward to each year. It’s more like our second home.. so when we arrive and they say “welcome home!”, I say: It’s nice to be home again. 😊
I got a little bit behind due to recent vacation and the holidays, so I am playing catch up with the show today. First off, I am literally sitting here crying watching you guys get emotional about the things you would’ve never done if not for DVC. Jeff’s story has me really emotional. Now Derek’s story about losing a baby hits close to home. You guys are literally the best. You have the best on camera chemistry, and you are real! And after meeting you in person (all except Panda now), you are just as genuine in person as you are on the show, and we just love you guys! We bought into DVC only after watching this show. My husband found it first and he was hooked. He got me into it and that was history. We wouldn’t be deluxe people if it weren’t for DVC. We wouldn’t be able to go to Disney so often if not for DVC. We won’t take our time to appreciate everything Disney has to offer if not for DVC. We know we will be back soon, so now we can relax and take it all in. Great show guys!
Pre DVC, we did girls trips at All Stars & moderates. Now, we do them in the Treehouses! 25th year, we’re doing Grand Floridian. Last few trips, we didn’t even hit the parks. Just chilling at the resorts, making big meals & fancy drinks, enjoying our company and naps, we love our naps! Doing the DVC bowling night was the highlight of last years trip!!

I bought DVC in 1993 and I lived in NYC. If it wasn’t for the numerous visits with my family and friends I would never have moved to Orlando in 2001 and worked for Disney for a while. My family also moved down here as well. That purchase allowed me to cruise with Disney and even do a bucket list items of heading to Mexico and Alaska. It literally changed my life and the life of my children who are now grown and thriving well here in Florida.😊
My cousin died of cancer last month. He and his sweet wife have 5 kids. For six years his wife juggled surgeries, chemotherapy appointments, raising their kids, school activities. She really had to single parent it for a long time. Right before he died my cousin asked that we do something nice for his wife because she had done so much for him. Behold DVC. I am using our DVC points and taking my cousin’s wife and her SIL to Aulani in February. ❤️❤️
I just saw Derek and his wife as my daughter and I were getting off the boat from the Poly to MK and they were going on the boat. I hesitated saying hi, but I’m glad I did. He was so friendly!

We bought a DVC membership last year and rented the Old Key West Grand Villa in January. We invited all my in-laws and had the time of our lives. The villa was so big that we all had plenty of room to relax and enjoy alone time. Best vacation ever.

I literally cried on this episode 😢It is a coping mechanism for us too… my father and father in law passed and we needed to go somewhere happy and my dream was to go to Disney World and we did!! life is too short and we need to make memories with our loved ones… We found out about DVC, did my research and bought. Now we could not imagine going to any other place. DVC always makes us feel at home and that we always have something to look forward to, and you can’t replace that Happy Vibes no matter how many times you’ve been to Disney❤

I ran into Derek and his lovely wife Annie the night of the Flying Fish Dinner with Mary Meet Cute. Even though they were dealing with an issue at home they were both incredibly gracious and kind. It was so fun chatting with them both. Thanks for this lovely episode. We’re at Kidani right now and in the Pre-DVC days I would have never been this relaxed in the morning, sipping my coffee and enjoying hearing your stories. You are our people! It's crazy how our lives are so parallel! My husband and I are Disney fanatics. We moved to Florida just to be closer to the parks. We just booked our first Disney cruise which I thought we'd never do. And we are talking about Tokyo Disney after we do our cruise! We are at the parks a lot. We made the mistake of selling our DVC before we moved down thinking we wouldn't need it. We were so wrong! We've recently bought back in through DVC Resale and now we do daycations all the time!
Y’all are giving me anxiety about moving my Lego Cinderella castle (with lights) and D100 camera and other misc Lego Star Wars builds! Hubs and I will be downsizing in the spring and I dread moving those! Even more than moving Granny’s china! 😂. Thanks for another great show! If it wasn’t for DVC we would have not stayed at the amazing deluxe resorts we’ve stayed at. Or been able to visit WDW as often as we have to begin with. the memories we have with our son have been priceless. And now we have a 3 month old grandson we’re looking forward to introducing to Disney when he’s a litttle older. We are so thankful to have experienced all the magic and have DVC to thank. ❤
I agree that watching the shows and the excitement all of you have for DVC is what got me to buy resale, I thought there was no way I could ever be a DVC owner. So happy I am a member 😊
We were in our 60s when we bought our first contract. At first our grown kids were skeptical….not any more! They’re loving it. We now have a grandson and he’s a Disney kid. Because of DVC we can have big family get togethers in the best resorts. Next year, hopefully we’ll go to the Aulani. Without DVC this would not be happening.
Buying DVC for future vacations with kids and grandkids (NO RUSH ON THAT PLEASE!!!) is the EXACT reason why I want to purchase DVC. I want my girls to experience Disney with their kids, just as I did with them. Truly magical moments!
I agree with Jeff on the influence of this show. I didn’t know about resale or rental of our points. So after learning this information, I bought and sold through DVC resale market and even rented our points with the rental store
I purchased, because my son works for Pixar and he purchased DVC. So my wife and I decided to purchased DVC at the Boardwalk, Best decision I've made. We go to Aulani just as much as WDW. I would own DVC just for Aulani alone. We have 5 grandkids ages 5 and under and one more on the way. Living my Best life with DVC, our family, and that including you guys and the DVC community. My life is full! Now I wonder what was said when Panda said the DIS show?? lol, I have a good idea.

DVC has made all of us a part of a community. I can't believe how easily I talk to strangers in the parks about DVC. I hope one day to run into Panda, because he looks like a very dear friend of mine, who is no longer with us. So if I do meet you, Panda, please understand why you will have a crying woman on your hands. Seriously, DVC Fan makes us feel like we know you and it's wonderful to see how you are with the community.
Not me but my parents. Had they not bought DVC back when our family friends took us down, we probably wouldn't never of gone to Disney as many times as we have.
We have been able to make some great memories in accommodations we could never pay rack rates for. I think when going to Disney, the resort is a big part of the experience. That’s maybe not the case when we travel to other places.
Million reasons. I’ll keep it simple. I wouldn’t be able to go to Disney 5 times a year. And do our huge 21 day trip in June. Plus watching this goofy blog which I love. I feel like part of this bunch of crazy’s Ps. Amy, I purchased some red baron due to the rec……we need to talk! :( How is it crispy everywhere but the. Bottom? The one place that’s required!! If anyone has followed the prices for resale one may want to think about buying or adding on now and into next year. Across the board the prices are getting excitingly low.
Can anyone speak to this? We have 2 golden retrievers and would love DVC. But the only pet friendly resorts I see, appear to not be “villa” style. I want a DVC unit that is either 1-3 bedrooms and accepts pets. Is there such a thing?
Hello! Currently the only pet friendly DVC accommodations are the Fort Wilderness cabins which is just one bedroom and is limited to two dogs. Maybe there will be more options in the future??? Other pet friendly options at Disney World are Art of Animation, Port Orleans Riverside, and Yacht Club (none of those are DVC though).
What is DVC going to offer going forward? I think Disney is going to be going in a downward spiral. From all of their lawsuits, films bombing, rides not working, and the biggest issue, Universal opening a brand new park along with a brand new hotel. And the fact that the park nd hotel is cheaper and appears to be better. As long as the rides at Epic Universe work, it will be better. We are DVC but have not been to the parks in years, due to all the price increases and lack of substance for the money. We literally just sleep there. We go to the other parks and even eat way from Disney. So much better and get a way better experience. I cant imagine how badly they will lose guests now.

We were in our 60s when we bought our first contract. At first our grown kids were skeptical….not any more! They’re loving it. We now have a grandson and he’s a Disney kid. Because of DVC we can have big family get togethers in the best resorts. Next year, hopefully we’ll go to the Aulani. Without DVC this would not be happening.

Buying DVC for future vacations with kids and grandkids (NO RUSH ON THAT PLEASE!!!) is the EXACT reason why I want to purchase DVC. I want my girls to experience Disney with their kids, just as I did with them. Truly magical moments!
I agree with Jeff on the influence of this show. I didn’t know about resale or rental of our points. So after learning this information, I bought and sold through DVC resale market and even rented our points with the rental store

I purchased, because my son works for Pixar and he purchased DVC. So my wife and I decided to purchased DVC at the Boardwalk, Best decision I've made. We go to Aulani just as much as WDW. I would own DVC just for Aulani alone. We have 5 grandkids ages 5 and under and one more on the way. Living my Best life with DVC, our family, and that including you guys and the DVC community. My life is full! Now I wonder what was said when Panda said the DIS show?? lol, I have a good idea.

DVC has made all of us a part of a community. I can't believe how easily I talk to strangers in the parks about DVC.

Not me but my parents. Had they not bought DVC back when our family friends took us down, we probably wouldn't never of gone to Disney as many times as we have.
We have been able to make some great memories in accommodations we could never pay rack rates for. I think when going to Disney, the resort is a big part of the experience. That’s maybe not the case when we travel to other places.

If anyone has followed the prices for resale one may want to think about buying or adding on now and into next year. Across the board the prices are getting excitingly low.
Anaheim Hilton is the WORST! Floors are literally slanted and it feels like it's going to come crashing down at any time.
Can anyone speak to this? We have 2 golden retrievers and would love DVC. But the only pet friendly resorts I see, appear to not be “villa” style. I want a DVC unit that is either 1-3 bedrooms and accepts pets. Is there such a thing?
I think as of now it's only Fort Wilderness cabins.
Hello! Currently the only pet friendly DVC accommodations are the Fort Wilderness cabins which is just one bedroom and is limited to two dogs.
Maybe there will be more options in the future???
Other pet friendly options at Disney World are Art of Animation, Port Orleans Riverside, and Yacht Club (none of those are DVC though).

What is DVC going to offer going forward? I think Disney is going to be going in a downward spiral. From all of their lawsuits, films bombing, rides not working, and the biggest issue, Universal opening a brand new park along with a brand new hotel. And the fact that the park nd hotel is cheaper and appears to be better. As long as the rides at Epic Universe work, it will be better. We are DVC but have not been to the parks in years, due to all the price increases and lack of substance for the money. We literally just sleep there. We go to the other parks and even eat way from Disney. So much better and get a way better experience. I cant imagine how badly they will lose guests now.
