    I've been a DVC owner for a long time and still love to hear all this info and talk about it!

    I bought DVC direct in 2006 after taking multiple trips to Disney world and it was a no brainer cost wise. It was kinda scary to pay that much money tho and I wondered if we could really afford it but then I realized if we could afford to take a trip to Disney every year, we could afford DVC. So it was a very good decision for us. I did sell my contract in 2018 b/c no one else in the family was interested in going anymore. But then I had a stroke in 2019 which I luckily recovered from. After that experience, my priorities became quite clear: I’m going to Disney as often as possible. By myself if I have to. So now I own DVC at 4 resorts and go as often as possible. I am really enjoying my retirement!😊

    What a great episode. We got into DVC by watching this show a few years ago. And like everyone else who buys into DVC, our only regret is not doing it sooner. We used to go to Disney every other year, and this past year, we went every other month. I will say that next year will be a little slower for us because we are using a ton of points for Aulani in June for our daughters college graduation, which is why we bought our last contract with Derek! We needed more points to do it! DVC is a great thing. We appreciate you guys so much for the guidance and information, and you are all pretty cool as well! 😊

    I wait for this show every week! Thanks for creating new content like date night. I'd love to see more with Panda in the Parks, as well. What a nice crew! There is one part of reserving DVC that I haven't heard anyone mention in prior episodes, and it might be worth a quick comment on a future show. The 31st of the month is a bizarre day to try to reserve a new vacation. As a new member last year, I had been trying to walk my reservations for myself and extended family over a popular holiday. I started this walk a few days ahead of time. When it became the 31st of the month, I could no longer walk the reservation until the 1st of the new month. Essentially, I had to wait a day to move my reservation ahead.

    We have developed a comfortable way to distribute our points throughout the year. We vacation during the last Sunday-Thursday in January, May, and September. We have just enough points for three five night stays at our beloved Old Key West Resort 3 times a year. DVC was the absolute best opportunity for my family and the way we like to vacation.

    Our first contract was a small resale SSR because we already owned an offsite timeshare and just wanted to get our foot in the door. Now we also own a small direct at AKL and will soon be adding BLT.

    What a great and informative show👍🏻👍🏻😃♥️. We have been members since 1998🥰 When people ask why we have been with DVC, we have given the same answers as y'all have given 👍🏻😃 , we also tell them do their research and direct them to the DVC rental website and the DVC Fan TH-cam channel. Thanks for sharing 🤗♥️

    48:54 - we closed on an Aulani resale contract last month for $96/point! And yeah...hands down, MUCH better deal over the long run than paying $1000+/night for a studio villa in cash. 🙂

    Became a DVC Member in March 2019; our first contract was BCV, which we still own and will use Feb 2-7 (my first time to EPCOT Festival of the Arts). We went to Aulani for the 1st time last September. BEST VACATION year to date! If you have not gone - GO! We bought AU points via DVCRESALE and used Monera Financial while there. We plan to visit every other year! And listen to Derek - do your homework. If you can, please look at some other resorts before picking your home resort. I wish I had purchased my original points at OKW, not BCV. For my family, buying resale was the way to go. IMO: there are no direct perks of any value, so buying more points with the money saved was what worked for us. MY Disney BFF wanted GFV and went to The Riveria for the "sales pitch" and bought her points directly. She regrets that decision to buy at Riveria and buying directly every single day. Take the tour. Listen to the sales pitch - but please take 48 hours before deciding!

    Resale is of course advertised BUT WHO CARES!! They are still giving you all the facts of ownership so that you can decide for yourself. How do you think they pay to do this podcast? They don’t have time and their daily lives to just do stuff for free…

    I always enjoy your episodes but the sound was a little choppy on this one. We stopped purchasing at four resorts and a total of 600 points. We wanted one resort on the monorail, one in the Disney Springs area, one in the HS/EPCOT area, and one next to the campground. Wish we started 10 or 20 years earlier.

    Wow! I was expecting more points for Derek and Panda. I guess my family is more in line with Amy and Paul. We have 550 and I’m still thinking of another 150 in a couple years. We wanted enough points for multi rooms or pretty much always a 1 bedroom.

    Great video. Locking in pricing is the #1 reason we decided to buy a Grand Cali resale contract. In 5 years I wouldn’t be surprised to see $1,000/night as the floor based on inflation/currency debasement

    Love the videos and info! We are currently trying to figure out if we want DVC! We have been to parks every year for 4 years in a row so it is time to invest into it. Living on the west coast, what WDW resort would have the best availability for 1 bedroom villas at the 7 month window? We are debating aulani or WDW for our home resort

    • @jennwilliams7415
      @jennwilliams7415 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      At 7 months your most likely to be available are SSR, OKW, and sometimes AKL (Kidani is available more than Jambo house). All of that is depending on time of year, busy times, you may not have availability at any resorts or in room sizes you want, no guarantees. Your best bet is to buy where you will be happy to stay most of the time and plan 11 months out then switch of another resort you like is available at 7 months. If you will not plan and book at 11 months or at least before 7 months, just go for the most economical contract because you’ll just going for whatever is available at that point at the 7 month or less mark. Buy Aulani if you really want to be able to book at 11 months there/travel in busy seasons. Otherwise, if your goal is to be able to use your points at WDW most of the time, buy a resort there.
