I remember when I used to trail ride 20 years ago. Thank God those days are over. Off trail is the only way to go, It's not about the miles it's about the smiles
I stay in Pine Stump for a week every year little motel just north of the bar, the pizza is awesome been down all those trails. Cool you went to Mac Island that only happens maybe 2 times a decade bucket list deal that water is deep there though over 200 feet out in the middle, great video Mike !
Best snowmobiling video I've seen!! Great narration and video! Actually brought a tear to my eye because I havent sledded in about 14 years. I was obsessed with it for a long time. Some great memories watching this vid. Only reason I/we kinda lost interest is because the winters and snowfall have been so up and down. All the trips you guys made in this vid, I been there and done that. Pine Stump, Buck Horn, Timber Charleys, Taquanama Brewery. Stayed at cabins in back of the North Store many times. That area was our favorite area. Sure wish they had Go Pros back in my snowmobiling days. I been all over the entire U.P.. on a sled. Insanely beautiful. More so on the western end. Been across the ice to Mackinaw Island also. You guys should have rode thru the island. Cool as hell. Usually a couple bar/restaurants open. I gotta get back in some day. I still have my 1995 ZRT900 (ported T-cat cylinders and pistons). Got about 6000 miles on it and still like new. Thanks for posting!
That Xmod view is pretty cool, especially while ur driving, would like to see it in some tractor videos!! Thanks for taking the time to film to share with us!! Enjoy your videos!! Love seeing how other farms do stuff compared to how we farm here in PA!!
Love these snowmobile videos Mike. They are awesome. I like the looks of that new camera lens you used near the end of this video. Makes you feel like you are riding on the sled with that view. Keep all your videos coming
Great video. Great narration. Great sirus radio station. Lol. I was at the Bear Trap on 2/20/22 for some of that killer dumpling soup. My buddy has a place in Wetmore three blocks from the skidoo dealer. We did 600 miles over three days. 👍🏻 Safe travels brother.
Used to stay at Berry's but they've jacked up their prices so we now stay at the Halfway Lake cabins which are $20 more a night but much nicer. They're located right down the road from where you were at (37 minute mark) Plus you avoid all those whoops driving into Newberry from the north
Really enjoyed your vlog style videos both farming and snowmobiling and this one was great cause I love riding in the UP. Sure is nice now cat make the belt tool I remember the days struggling to replace belts on firecats and the Zr.
Great video our group is from the Flatlands of Lansing area our cabins are in Newberry and Paradise love most trails but the whoopty doos suck back busting garbage we ride lake Superior shore lines from white fish point to Grande Marais see all the light houses and scenery icebergs it's Sweet good video dude from the Flatlanders
Great video Mike! Nicely done. Really like the reviews n showing your trip routes sledding thru da good 'ol Yewpee'.😉 As a former Yooper its nice to see peeps from other states visit it n enjoy the scenery it offers! 🤗
Well, that funny, when you are farming or working outside, who cares what clothing is on, as long as its comfortable and gets the job done. BUT, in sledding, the clothing has to match your sled colors. LOL!! Made me think,.... I do it too. RE: GoPro 10, they came out with a new battery called the Enduro which works great for snowmobiling. It allows the cam to run a bit longer in the severe cold and less prone to freezing. Works with Hero 9 & 10 only. As for the new camera angle, it's good to have a variety of lenses to play with to create neat and interesting views.
Mike we used to snowmobile in lower Mich at Waters Mich from 1968 to 1990s and our group at times as 30 snowmobiles we started with Boa Skis to Coulmbia to Scorpions
you can hear a 4 stroke snowmobile to me it sounds like ATV or motorcycle just saying. And I like your cat love the colors and I pretty much like all snowmobiles brands
That duck lake fire sure did make a lot of Barron land. Glad it is recovering Forgot to add , that sherp is going to cost us trails if he keeps it up. He was all up in my neighbors property. We couldn’t figure out what, until a picture of it showed up online in the area. Yea he is a trespasser.
I liked the "x-lens" clips, of course, if the whole video was just this, it would be affecting my brain a bit. Of course, folks would say that would be a good thing! 🤪
I'm not a snowmobiler so I have no experience with them in the last several decades. What is the reason for wanting one weight or the other on those clutch parts you swapped? Also, I was wondering in both this one and your last couple vids from out west, why this sled vs your other one? Isn't that one only a year older than this one and about the same speed (IIRC from the drag racing video you made)? Make sure the exhaust is within limits. Don't want another ticket from the boys in green LOL Liked the new lens very much.
Higher elevations have thinner air so you lose horsepower. Lighter clutch weights help you maintain/reach the desired engine RPM. Last year I ran the standard heavier weight in Wyoming and my sled have a little bit of engine bog. My Arctic Cat Riot versus my ZR900. The Riot has a longer track and deeper lug with wider ski's so it will do better in the deeper snow. No it is also geared different so I don't get the top speed like my ZR900. The 900 is great on the trail and not as good off trail in the deep snow. My Riot tops out around 85MPH and my ZR900 will hit over 100MPH. 146" track versus a 121" track. Now I could probably change my gear (chain case) ratio on the riot for trail riding only but 85MPH is fast enough as you really don't ride faster than that too often. At least I don't need to.
another good video Mike. Check out oscrusier channel to see a sherp in action. They do all kind of riding. The sherp to ride the muskeg swamps in saskatchewan. Crazy where it'll go.
2000 a small group of snowmobilers rode up the stairway to the Lookout over "Lake of the Clouds" in the Porcupine Mountains. The DNR would probably shoot snowmobilers now for doing that!!
Kind of funny does aj have a beard and a bunch of tattoo's? Never met him before but we stayed in grand marais a few weeks ago together had a good time. He's sitting at the bar 28:49
Yep that's the same guy. He rode with us just the one day and said he was going up to Grand Marais to ride with some other guys. I just met him that morning as he was friends with some of the guys I rode with. Small world as his mom has a younger sister that is a friend of my wife. They went to school together. It always amazes me on how these videos I put on TH-cam get out there and connect people.
Mike I don't know if you've heard of Veeser Cattle Co, but you were pretty close to his place . He has a YT channel and I'd bet Ben would enjoy a visit.Check out his channel!
@@farmhandmike Those groomers aren't cheap to run...they've jacked the trail passes up the last few years....$25 a dozen years ago....it's $175 a year across the border!

Thanx..nice video..we ride in U.P. of michigan up in paradise..Munising area...Scott from Kalamazoo mi.
I snowmobiled for the first time and did it in the Upper Peninsula. Never had so much fun and I’m hooked. Looked at possibly buying one in the future.
8:19 Well, better that way than the other way around...😉
Thanks a lot for the video! 😊👍🏻
Xmod worked well on the trail. Long time since I have been to Newberry nice to see some familiar sights.
Awesome we go riding up there every summer going in the winter is definitely something I wanna do

Cool video. 25MPH Speed limit sign on the island must only apply to the drone police since no one else can drive.

Do you like the handle bar bag? I got one that’s way to small on my cat.
Loved the video mike! What for model 509 is your helmet?
April 1st the snowmobile routes in Michigan turns to ATV/UTV routes
I’ve rode several times out to the island
How many guys you had in that group and NO DUCT TAPE????

Multiple camera shots is what you need to put together a quality video.

sad how each state requires a license, tax you coming and going
Yes it’s registered in my home state then a tag for all of the the others. Doesn’t work like a license plate on your car.

Someone needs to pay to groom all the trails we ride on.
