    Raw materials will be.
    8x beams 69x44mm 270cm (2.7x1.7" with 106" Lengt)
    8x beams 44x44mm 270cm (1.7x1.7" with 106" Lengt)
    3x plywood 244x120cm (96x48")
    12m (40feet) x Chicken wire 50cm width (20")
    2m (6.5feet) x Chicken wire 100cm width (40")
    For the details, you need to look into your personal preferences. I used strips that were quite cheap and thin.
    total about 2x wood strip 0.5x5cm 270cm (0.19x2" with 106" Lengt)
    Roofing of your liking
    The total price for me was about 350 euros. But to be honest wood prices differ a lot around the world. Best to make your own calculation!

      I am making a chicken coop for the first time, out of a large bathroom vanity that someone was getting rid of. It’s definitely a learning process, for me as I have never done this kind of stuff, but my husband is trying to help me. I think a chicken coop is a fairly good choice for a first time build project, even though it is hard for me as I have never built anything but am enjoying the adventure. Thanks for the tutorial. I wanted to se how you put on your hinges as that is what I am working on now.

    While there are a number of design flaws and omissions, for one that is clearly not a builder by trade you've done a pretty okay job of your chicken coop. I would recommend viewers see a few other builds as well. The camera work and the way you have displayed the actual framing and assembly of your project are possibly the best I've seen yet. Fortunately, chickens are uncomplicated and not that difficult to please and the end product is aesthetically, not bad at all.

    • @TheFarmDream
      @TheFarmDream  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your honesty Greg. I've learned a lot since building that coup and I would agree it's not a flawless design. From what I remember when designing this coup I watched a lot of chicken coup video's online before starting so I take it most people will!

    • @TheFarmDream
      @TheFarmDream  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Good question. A Bantam chick doesn't need to much space to sleep. Best to focus on space the run around and look for food (the run). We ended up having 13 bantam chicks in this coop without any issues 👌🏻😄

    I have a question… but first let me say thank you for a great video. Also, such a great looking coop. I love how the design integrates the nesting boxes into the initial floor plan. And the colors are awesome.
    My question is …
    I’m looking at the blueprints and on page two, titled Chicken Coop Beams Front… at what angle on your miter saw did you cut the ends of the top board for the nesting box ( the board is listed as 36cm). Also, what angle did you cut the top of the board that frames out the back of the nesting box (the board is listed as 95cm).
    Any help you can provide on the angles of your cuts would be much appreciated.
    I am a first time builder of anything and while you made this look like a very approachable project… I’m still nervous to get started.

    • @TheFarmDream
      @TheFarmDream  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tim! Thank you for your kinds words. The angle for the nesting boxes roof (95cm beam) is 20 degrees. Following that 20 degrees angle into the 36cm beam. I hope this helps! If you have any other questions feel free to hit me up ☺️ good luck building 💪🏻🔨

    OSB is not for outdoor use. That coop won’t last more than 4 rainstorms. Horizontal cuts are helping water penetrate the OSB. After 1 year, the OSB will be sawdust. The 2x4 frame will still be around though. You can try again with plywood and siding

    • @TheFarmDream
      @TheFarmDream  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's been quite some time and it's still standing 😁 but I did indeed start the video out by saying the OBS should be replaced with plywood 😅

    Hey I'm thinking about building this coop but I have 8 chickens and was wondering of they'd all fit comfortably.

    • @TheFarmDream
      @TheFarmDream  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! If you have 8 big chickens it might be a bit on the small side. But I think you can make it work by making the roof higher and creating a bigger run. If it's 8 bantams the coop might be okay but I would still suggest a bigger run! They don't need to much sleeping space as long as they can all sit on a perch. But they need space to run, jump and look for food, else they might get bored and pick on each other. Hope this helps!

      We've used it for 4 maximum so far. You could fit more probably but I like to give them some space. The run usually determents how many chicks it can fit. 😄 Since the coop is only for sleeping. How many chickens will this coop accommodate?

      Hi! We currently use the coop for 13 bantam chicks, which are just fine. More important is the outdoor run, as long as there is enough space so they can entertain themselves during the day. The coop is just for sleeping. I would suggest making it a bit higher if it's for normal-size chickens tho, they need some extra head space above the perches.

    Yes, I have a question, where are your chickens?

      Hahaha, they were inside the coop! They were still too young to go outside. since we only had them for 1 day when finishing this coop build. They are now running around happely!

    This wood is not suitable for outdoor use if it is not going to be covered. As soon as it gets wet it will fall apart like cardboard.

      You are correct. That's why i said replace it with plywood 😁 the chicken coop is doing fine tho. I think the paint protects it a bit.

      If I made it from plywood it would be more expensive than our own house 😜🤣 jokes a side. Wood here is really expensive. The coop is still doing great after all these months. And I live in a very damp climate. So I think it's fine 👌🏻
