The train system underneath should just be themed as a subway. Then, you could have a scene with the TMNTs, one with Batcave, and other subterranean things.
Put Ninjago neighborhood on a stand-alone shelf and then use bricks to make it look like it's on a cliff. You can also make the water look like it's falling off edge like a waterfall.
It would make most sense to have places like zoo, camping area, farm, park, beach, forest, ect. ect. as far away from the main city and industrial area as possible. It would realistically have less noise or pollution to those places. I like the realism :)
I would put the sky scrapers in the back of the LEGO city, behind the town hall. I would keep the amusement park where it is, it looks really good where it is. I like the idea for the campground and ninjago city 👍
The only change I would recommend to the amusement park is that the castle should be where the Ninjago City was to create a "Looking down Main Street" view from the desk.
I think that you should put the Disney train track on an elevated viaduct around the same place. This would mean that you could move the bricksie land sign to be hanging over the entrance on it and maybe also put shops/stalls underneath
I am considering the possibility of having a raised train track Just some things I have to work out with space and the Disney Castle platform with the tunnels.
@@Bricksie in the meantime, you should use the white picket fence pieces as the barrier between the Disney train tracks and the rest of the amusement park. When you ride a sightseeing train the point is to be able to see the different parts of the amusement park, not the side of a big, grey wall. Conversely, it should be big, grey wall separating the Disney track from the rest of the Lego city in all areas where there needs to be separation. Gotta pay park admission to even be able to lay eyes on the train
I like the changes. You can also change the roadsystem. The new system clears a lot of plates. Give more room for new modulars and makes the city more compact. Good Lucky.
It would be nice if you could somehow completely get rid of that annoying section @ 0:43 so you can freely walk between these two big "sections" of your city without having to walk ALL the way around to reach where ninjago is currently at.
Leave the train yard on top and move the Ninjago under the table. Could have different areas underneath like Ninjago, old west, underwater, Star Wars, etc...
The amusement park does look a little empty right now. Its size could easily be reduced by one row of base plates. That would open up space for a custom build passenger train station and additional modular buildings!
We are working on filling it (this weekend actually). Keep in mind that it was recently moved. We are adding things like train stations, more attractions, food vendors, planters, and much more.
I think you are on the correct track but keep the rail where it is and put the nigargo platform under the city as it never really fitted with the theme of the Lego city. Please do more videos like this as it good to see how your mind works
It seems like the Ninjago platform is always at the root of your problems. Put the Ninjago stuff on a shelf and be done with it. It never really fit well in the city anyway. Love the idea of moving the train yard underneath. Also, the skyscrapers should go back into the city. All just my 2 cents, but you asked!
Maybe the train yard could be smaller , but I think the theme park is taking up a lot of space . Shouldn’t the city bleed more around it ? Do you layout your city road plates digitally before making changes? Bricklink solid or just Adobe illustrator? That camp ground looks good , don’t move just slowly cut away at it when space is needed . What happens to ninjago city platform when you run out of room in a year after another big set comes out ? Thanks for sharing your lego life
With the design of your city considered, it doesn't have a very complicated and delicate train system like some others- it's really just a loop like you said. Therefore it doesn't need a complex trainyard for the loop. I think it would likely be a good thing and make it look cleaner, as tons of trains aren't just sitting with only a loop of track.
Hi, I'm big on organization. Is there a place in your garage to store the empty boxes and manuals. Taking into account the cold weather conditions they'd have to be stored in something to protect them from dampness. Then move the "to be build/backlog" into the HP closet. You could also add shelving in the closet for parts storage bins or even items to be sold. This would clear up a lot of room under the tables. Leave the skyscrapers on the shelves, they look good there. Can the table where the trains are now be lowered? If so move the boat dock/boats there and put the Ninjago sets where the boat dock is now. I have more ideas but that is my input for now.
Having raised areas in the main part (like the ninjago) would be beneficial to add depth and dimension rather than just all on one level. Most of the space is taken up by roads, if changed to the new road plate system would give even more space, albeit costly but there are ways to offset the cost. Bigger changes equals more content. Also, not having the train track loop around the outside would give more space. Having one small loop at each end from the train yard to the amusement park with just one track straight through the middle of the city would be more realistic. Could go on an incline from the yard end and be raised over ground like a monorail.
I think this makes a ton of sense - the charm of the city - especially the newest updates has been the detail work (Beach, Campground, Amusement Park). The train yard is hard to add additional detail in that respect - and you can't really populate it with figs. I think moving it down to the floor again makes sense and allows better cohesiveness and new areas that can be fully populated/detailed like a Zoo, a waterpark (Friends water slides?!!?), a Chinatown area, etc.
Thank you sir! Yes I agree, we could add a lot more detailed areas to the city ( such as the ones listed) if we exile the train yard under tables where it can run free. I am very excited about the crazy train system that could be built under there. Right now the trains only have one small city circuit and a static train yard... Not a whole lot of fun in that
If possible, make a hole between the tables as before and make a slope inside the hole and move the train under the table. And if you take the ninja city to the corner of the table, I think you should keep it on a small table. Build a mountaineering station next to it and place the camp next to the mountain. The city needs a mountain. Keep Ninja City on the extra table
*PLEASE MOVE DIAGONALLY TO THE AMUSEMENT PARK & REPLACE IT WITH A MORE ATHEISTIC BUILDING THE CITY!! IT LOOKS OUT OF PLACE. ALSO PAIR BUILDINGS WITH SAME HEIGHT BUILDINGS. THE CITY BLOCK CLOSEST TO THE PARK LOOKS UNPROPORTINED!*
But Bricksie, if you are moving the ninjagoland over to the Train Yard, the Train Yard can just be on the same platform... because the ninjagoland is on a higher platform, which means that you don’t have to put the Train Yard anywhere else😉👍
For the modulars you could sort them in rows by restaurants, shops, utility services, and have some custom ally ways added between some of them. One of them could be a small park where a building used to be but was torn down and then turned into a small park for some greenery inside the downtown area. And for the residential area you could have a street with mansions (larger LEGO houses) and then the smaller houses on one street.
I love the ideas you have for the city! Another idea could be to make Wayne Manor and put it into your city, then you could put the Batcave directly underneath. You could also potentially make a way for the train yard to reach into the city from under the table. I am currently creating Instructions for an 8X16 Ninjago Modular, which could be placed in the city if you are looking for other modular buildings. You could also possibly build an underground scene of a subway and maybe have a star wars hangar for the many ships in your collection if you need to make space on your shelves. Great video as always!
We got the blue cargo train 3 years ago, and we built a small city around it. Train tracks were the first thing I would lay out for a city, before we got into modulars. I believe removing the Trains from main table to make room for more city details is a tough decision, but the best one! So many more details!! Trainyard underneath will be cool as well!
airports are almost in every single city irl, i would really recommend airport thats a really big part that the city is missing and it would look soooooo good
u should put the ninja go city diagonal on the corner so it doesn’t cover the bricksie sign and also to have more complexity. and then have the murps and burps creating rock area leading to a waterfall that leads to a river connecting to the beach
What you could do is after the switch track before the train yard you could make the track dip down underneath the table and make the top layer connected to the bottom layer.
If i have a nickel for everytime Bricksie has COMPLETELY changed his LEGO City, I'd probably be able to buy LEGO UCS Millennium Falcon with that money! 😅😅
I love the under table train, was a great part of the old city. I love the concept of underneath parts being linked aswell, like the deep sea, connecting parts of each place on top with an underneath world
I think you should take the Ninjago sets off the platform, but keep them in the same spot. Move them closer to the edge of the table and condense as much as possible. Add some baseplates along their sides and tile half of it like the sets (mixture of green and black for depth with trans-blue on top) and the other half as a sort of wall and sidewalk area at the edge of the river. Maybe create a custom bridge to connect Ninjago to the city proper. It's hard to tell from video how much space that would open, but it seems like that may give you at least a few baseplates worth to give back to the city. As for the train station, personally not a fan of it being under the table, as it's less visible and I feel like it wouldn't feel as though it's part of the city, but that's just me. If you were to do so, I'd say bill it as a subway system, creating above ground entrances to it.
The Ninjago Platform is currently going over the top of the train track so removing them from the platform would not save us any space, unfortunately. If we move the trains/yard under the city we would essentially have unlimited space to run some pretty awesome and complex lines. I am just trying to think of ways to gains space in the city and at the same time add a new fun entity to the LEGO room where the trains can actually run free
Great idea ! But a lot of work ahead for both of you! If I may suggest something, you'll need a (at least a little one) train station for the tracks around the core, so I think you could move the Disney train station and platform 9 3/4 to the opposite side of the park so it's near the city by your non-modular houses, and replace those houses by a small train station, this way you could have sort of an exchange platform for trains with connected stations between the city and the park
Finally! Knowing at all times that this is your city, not mine, I nevertheless have strong opinions on its development. I also love nothing more than a good city layout update episode! I've long thought the development by the Bricksie wall is disjointed and not really attractive, although it has nice elements, like the campground/park. I'm not a big train and industrial building fan, but since you want that in your city, positioning it at a sub-level would be a great solution. It would also give you much more space for undersea displays and anything else that doesn't really fit in a modular downtown. Ninjago City is a natural for placement near water, so that should work out very well. Additionally, I meant to comment on your last city layout video that you should have brought in Josea earlier! She is really adding needed detail and charm to the city! More her please!
With placing the trains under the city, you might want some under table lighting that would help illuminate the train line. I think that you should also start checking out modular lighting to make those display much better and realistic.
I really like the idea of this, and I think that one of the little scenes under the table could be an arctic type area, with all the Lego city arctic sets and it would look amazing. Huge fan, and love your content :)
Ik think the Idea of moving Ninjago towards the ocean area would look great. On the other hand i do think the city needs some water. Maybe a pond or a small Canal. The Idea of having multiple scenes underneath with some lights would be AMAZING! Love the channel and i think Mrs Bricksie does a great job helping 😃
With the trains, I keep thinking of the city like a model railroader. What if you made the move, but then treat the under table sections as extensions of the city and have the tracks grade up to the actual city. Almost like a tunnel through the mountains thing. Would require supporting the elevated track, but it would look amazing.
Put it all underneath and just call it subway;) Then build stations in the different parts of the city that are connected to the lower area (cut holes in the tables) to make it proper. Generally a second layer underneath is great for all kinds of stuff, parking garage, metro station, shopping mall etc. under the urban area. And cave, mine etc. underneath the outer city area with campground and beach
Maybe at the back of the table where your art wall is, you can make some kind of structure so that the train can then move up from under the table and then make a lap around the city and the amusement park and move back down. You can then also make a small train station for the town where the train can then stop.
That long straight stretch of track going to the existing train yard is probably long enough to turn into a ramp going down to the new train loop under the city. You would still gain almost all of those base plates the track is currently on because most of the ramp would then be under the tables. Then all the track would be connected
I have tried that before and it is an absolute nightmare. If you search some of my older videos you will see that I had a train traverse once upon a time
Maybe try putting the campground down by the beach and they can combine as one giant recreational area. Use Ninjagoland as the transition from modulars to residential. Move your custom police station into the residential area since you have the official expert set in the modular area. That would keep space free for future sets and give you a more cohesive transition from city to residential to recreational. Oh and put the factory in your modular area.
These changes sound excellent. I always thought the campground should be by the beach area and the residential houses closer to the edge of the City. Also like that all the trainyard goes below as it takes up a lot of valuable area. Now if only I could convince you about expanding the Harry Potter theme (Hogwarts and Hogsmeade villages) and more on the London side. Also DA needs more space...but I do realize that this is not your fav theme Josee can you help? Ha Ha. Have a great weekend
Personally I love the idea of a train system under the table. That way you can add a bunch of cool caves or a tunnel going through the underwater area, or maybe a light tunnel, I think that would be really cool.
You could run a 2x4 at an angle going from underneath to the top of the city so trains from the train yard could access the city. If you get get the angle gradual enough, the train shouldn’t have any issues getting up the ramp.
I love the idea of having a freight and train yard, but your correct, they just take up too much valuable space. They can be their own separate 'static' display under the table, while freeing up other scenes.
The wall/entrance to Diagon Alley is very glaring. I suggest you put up a facade, rather than making the wall so wide and obvious. Maybe push Diagon Alley back 12 studs, and put a newsstand, ATM machine, flower stand, etc up front, with a narrow alley entrance that leads to the secret wall/passageway. Or at the very least, put some graffiti on the wall…
Love the train idea. You should make put the curtains like you have in the underwater and cut a hole so it could be Underneath the table train line and those figs could go around to Mos Eisley, Underwater, Batcave? You could also build a train station outside of each one.
For the Ocean underneath the table you should put a see-through glass or plastic around it then add some blue tinted LED's to give it a more finished and underwater look!
I would probably modify the beach and add the Ninjago section as a large raised island in the corner. I think it's a great idea to move some stuff under the table too, Having a subway with stations in the city would be a really cool idea under the table. You could do a tunnel cross section along the camera friendly area of the table.
Don’t do the train yard under the table again, it didn’t look great last time. Do the melamine thing but so the trains can come up onto the table on their own. Move the camp ground so the water (if that’s what it is) from ninjago runs into a river through the camp ground and into the beach scene. Or put the trains into a shelved area behind the wall so they can enter the city from behind a wall - then you don’t use your utility room.
I'm wondering how/if you would connect the underground train to the mainline. I have a radical idea, Move the Ninjago area to the back corner of the fair ground over the tracks (longer side oriented towards the back of the tables) and have it as an attraction for the fair ground. Still remove the train yard and factory and make that area into a large Zoo beside the new location for the camp ground. Place the factory train shed where the Ninjago platform is now and build a ramp along that edge of the table (1 train track wide) going down to the under ground (table) yard. This will give a lot more space in both the residential area and the modular area for new buildings.
Fantastic idea for the move. Ninjago near the downtown core seems out of place, and the train yard just takes up too much real estate. I'd say not to bother with building a train yard under the table as it seems they often get over looked being on the top of the table, no point in setting that up below the table. Good call on lowering it slightly so as not to block the ol' Bricksie wall. Can't wait to see the changes! Ninjago near the end will blend in nicely with the water already at that area! Peace from Calgary!
These are some thoughts that came to me while watching your video: Have you ever considered getting a storage unit for your boxes and manuals ? What about re-building the train yard integrated in the "mountain" under Nijago city, but yes that might hide your Bricksie wall. And finally if/when you build your "underground" train tracks, combine it with some "secret" hightech underground research facility that would connect to the surface above through a secret entrance. I was thinking like a Batman-cave or underneath the Avenger tower or another "secret" government agency. Hope this helps and have a good weekend.
I like the idea of moving the train station, seems to take up a lot of space and doesn't add much. Putting it under the tables would make it like a subway station. I think you should add a table to the end of the water and then put the Ninjago platform there. Yes it would take up walking space to the bricksie wall and art but you could make a waterfall that goes right into the ocean. It would also still seem epic being high off the ground and almost mythical to the city. I think you should have a whole Harry Potter section, where diagon alley leads to platform 9 3/4 which then leads to the Hogwarts castle. Also this is random, but I liked the other video with you and your wife sitting on the park bench then making it like they were talking, you should do that more often and get creative, like you could do it where your Minifigure is waiting in line to get gas or riding the roller coaster, or visiting the pub, etc. Could be a fun way to introduce your videos
I think that you could even make the track slowly go down off the table and have the train yard be under but have it still connected to the city, that would be very difficult but it could look really cool
I think it’s a great idea. Trains take up lots of valuable real estate. I would anticipate more modular Ninjago City sets in the future, so it makes sense to give them more room. And closer to the other body of water. Makes sense.
Everything you proposed sounds good to me. Would be great if you could have the trains come up to the table top. Plus a lot of comments on here talk about themed subway scenes which sounds awesome. The only thing I can add to the discussion is moving the firehouse modular building. With it right next to town hall its really weird seeing two bell towers next to each other. Best of luck!
You can free up some space in the Downtown core by moving a few items to the theme park (emulating the Orlando theme parks). The items you can move to the theme are i) costume shop (Magic Kingdom emporium on Main St) ii) Diagon Alley (Universal Studios) iii) Sesame St (Sea World). The idea of putting the Ninjago area where the train yard is and have it transition into the campground is a good one.
I know you didn’t really talk about that but you should add back the hospital because in my opinion a city without a hospital is not a good city. Also if you don’t want to put it in because it is too tall then have it spread across two base plates so the height goes down. Anyway love the channel and keep up the good work
I think your ideas are spot on! All the recreational areas would be together and the Ninjago platform with its rock work (once done) would blend perfectly with the ocean if you were to add a waterfall. It would also be great if you added a cave into the mountain/cliff edge for some wildlife or exploration team. I support the Zoo idea - all those safari sets coming out have so many great looking animals.
The idea of having an underground level in the city may be a good one. If you give access to the upper level of the city. Subway type with underground stations with elevators. And industrial zone.
I think it'd be cool if the trains could come up onto the town level from underneath the tables through some sort of brick-built tunnel. I am not familiar with how the trains' drive systems work since I don't own any myself yet, but I'm sure there's a way to do it.
Hmm I don’t like the idea of making the train circuit lower than the table. I think it would work better if you either took it away altogether or downsize it
The point of putting the train down there is to have fun with trains and build something cool. The concept is not designed to be real word realistic, but rather have fun with a massive LEGO train setup.
With the space gained we could add a Zoo 🐵🦝🦏🐨🦥🐻
first! does he respond?? love the vids
I like the new city, it makes it look more realistic
Yes that would be awesome
I think that’s a good idea too. 👍🏼
Zoo you say?!?
The train system underneath should just be themed as a subway. Then, you could have a scene with the TMNTs, one with Batcave, and other subterranean things.
great idea passing thru different unground elements, like you said batcave, miniers set could be brought in...even the turtles cave lol
They can then also continue to use the graffiti in the underground on the tunnel-walls.
Yes great idea
Best idea
I like this idea. A subway modeled all the way around the table would be amazing.
Put Ninjago neighborhood on a stand-alone shelf and then use bricks to make it look like it's on a cliff. You can also make the water look like it's falling off edge like a waterfall.
A winter village section would be great to see as a part of your city in the future!
Yeah I thought that but would it work in terms of the snow?
I like the idea of other sets being underneath, like maybe a Harry Potter World with Hogwarts, Hagrids Hut, Quidditch Stadium etc
That would be good, i second that idea 👍
I third that idea.
I agree. Like having Hogwarts under the amusement park or even under diagon alley
Yes like the hidden world Diagon alley style

I really want u to add he skyscrapers back, they look amazing
Agreed.
Really nice suggestions. I'll be 100 % on board with every change. :)
I'm not on board with every change but this is a good one.

Bagging everything in clear trash bags and adding silica gel packs to the bags should combat the moisture
.

u should put the ninja go city diagonal on the corner so it doesn’t cover the bricksie sign and also to have more complexity. and then have the murps and burps creating rock area leading to a waterfall that leads to a river connecting to the beach
I like the idea of the angled Ninjago platform! We shall do some measuring!
What you could do is after the switch track before the train yard you could make the track dip down underneath the table and make the top layer connected to the bottom layer.
It could have been cool to put an airport by the train station but now that the train station is underneath the table I don' know how would that work
If i have a nickel for everytime Bricksie has COMPLETELY changed his LEGO City, I'd probably be able to buy LEGO UCS Millennium Falcon with that money! 😅😅
I love the under table train, was a great part of the old city. I love the concept of underneath parts being linked aswell, like the deep sea, connecting parts of each place on top with an underneath world
Maybe you could move the Lego ninjago area to the ocean part of the beach and then put platform nine and 3/4 by the train yard
I would like to see the skyscrapers back in I was sad when they were moved
Haha if we make all of these changes they might make their way back into the layout
Notification squad! I like the idea of adding a zoo!
With the trains, I keep thinking of the city like a model railroader. What if you made the move, but then treat the under table sections as extensions of the city and have the tracks grade up to the actual city. Almost like a tunnel through the mountains thing. Would require supporting the elevated track, but it would look amazing.
if you move the houses you should have alot of room around the beach where the houses where.
An idea for a detail to add in the future is maybe turning the new 4+ Mickey's rocket into a playground in the Amusement park.
If you search some of my older videos you will see that I had a train traverse once upon a time
maybe add a airport
That way you can add a bunch of cool caves or a tunnel going through the underwater area, or maybe a light tunnel, I think that would be really cool.
make your train yard underground but maybe make some sort of bridge so the trains can go to the city and yard
You could run a 2x4 at an angle going from underneath to the top of the city so trains from the train yard could access the city. If you get get the angle gradual enough, the train shouldn’t have any issues getting up the ramp.
You should have the train come a tunnel from under the tables and going around the downtown core.
I love the idea of having a freight and train yard, but your correct, they just take up too much valuable space. They can be their own separate 'static' display under the table, while freeing up other scenes.
In the lego city you could add a museum moc. Also the lego city is looking great
The wall/entrance to Diagon Alley is very glaring.
Thank you for your suggestion. I like the facade idea.
Bring back the skyscrapers! They’re too cool to not include in the city
You could free up space using Diagon Alley as facades with the black smith - make it look like a medieval part of town, like Lewes in the UK.
Did you think about adding a sort of train track inside of the city, for a tramway maybe? I think it’d add some density to the center of the city
These are some thoughts that came to me while watching your video:
Have you ever considered getting a storage unit for your boxes and manuals ?
You could do a custom ninjago shelf setup near the towers/flats. It's your city, keep up the good work mate!
I had an idea to put the micro scale hog warts in the amusement park
Essentially you're building a subway system. You could build little "fake" stairways down to subway platforms that you could build below.
I have an idea! Try to add some stop signs or stop lights!!! They make a lego city look next level!!! Plus it looks really cool!!! Just an idea!
you could add a shopping mall and under the tables you could add a train and bus interchange
We are working on the amusement park this week and are very excited to continue adding more detail to it! Thank you for the ideas!
I know you didn’t really talk about that but you should add back the hospital because in my opinion a city without a hospital is not a good city. Also if you don’t want to put it in because it is too tall then have it spread across two base plates so the height goes down. Anyway love the channel and keep up the good work
I agree with moving the train underneath, that was my first thought when you mentionned you needed to move it. Hope you get enough space.
Could you build two shallows incline from the under table track and have two holes for it to come out on the table level level and then back down?
with all the new space you should add the skyscrapers and maybe make them smaller so it wouldn't obstructive view of your shelves.
If you placed the train yard underneath the tables you could place a ramp up to the city on the straight closest to your desk.
@@Bricksie Oh I see. I think I may have misinterpreted your intentions then
