    PE foam MOD alone makes those marbly sounds , ( like the spray can shaking motion makes ) that is the sound I love.

    • @creationfied
      @creationfied 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think 2 or even one layers are enough, having more eliminates the sound u originally look for with tapes, which is the vibration of the bubbles of air between the pcb and the tape aswell as the tape itself, think of the tape as a really wide string or stretched cloth, when plucked it makes that poppy noise

    for anyone who still wants to do this but cant find pe foam, tissues work great. Just make sure you get clean tissues with no moisture (i would wash hands, sanitise and dry) and then just lay the tissues in as flat as possible, as many layers as you would like just so you can fit the PCB back in, and it works just the same.

    I'd use a thicker piece of foam than that in the video, usually the foam that comes from packaging tomatoes, you can get some from your grocery store or restaurant when they're throwing it out; one layer for the face and 3 for the back (one will be taped down to the base of the case with double side tape); then I'll tape the same foam inside the space bar, shift, and enter keys; now the keyboard makes a nice quiet thocking noise .... but it's nothing compare to the Logitech k70 (the first batch that came out, not the later batches that came out years later) that was near silent, it only got squeeky after 13 years of use, and the plastic became to brittle to risk taking the keys off and lubing the sisscor switches. .

    So, i've got the Yunzii KC68 Pro keyboard (which is a rebrand of some other brand i don't really remember).
    Anyways, it has a pretty thick foam thing pre-installed between the PCB and the plate... so i'm unsure if this mod is needed.
    I really wanna get the sound you get when doing these mods but again, my keyboard already has some kind of foam pre-installed and i have no idea what that foam even is for.

    I’m confused on where to put the foam. On the side that the switches are placed into or the back cuz on another video they put it on the back

    • @TMDangerMouse
      @TMDangerMouse 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The PE Foam goes on the top side where the switches go, the pins on the switch punch through the PE Foam 👍

    Can I do the PE foam mod on non-hotswappable?

    • @killakeyboards1945
      @killakeyboards1945  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could but that means you'd have to apply the pe foam before you solder your switches. If you board is already soldered then you have to desolder, put in the pe foam then solder.

    I will be using a pe foam sticker, which is a pre laser cut pe foam material, need to paste it manually on pcb. Can I add another layer of pe foam mod?

    • @killakeyboards1945
      @killakeyboards1945  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probaby not but it really depends how thick it is. No harm in trying! My advice is just to make sure you test the keys using via and see if they're registering. Do that after you've put the pcb, pe foam and plate together and before you put the case together. I used PE foam in my Ikki68 with a silicone layer between pcb and plate. The PE foam would bulge the switches out of the hotswap socket.

    how are the 2 pins from the switches supposed to go in the keyboard if the foam is blocking it?

    • @killakeyboards1945
      @killakeyboards1945  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They should push through without damaging the pins. Just be careful if the pins are slightly on an angle, they get bent. The pe sheet from my Mr.Suit didn't have pin holes so I had to do the same. PE is pretty soft so you don't have to worry if it does bend you can straighten it back up :) hope that helps

    One question: do you also cut holes for the rest of the pins of the switches? Or only the middle hole

    • @tailuong6591
      @tailuong6591 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pe foam kinda thin so u can just leave the pins there, if u bend it, it's okay u can bend the pins back to normal again

      I use davinci resolve 17. I put the typing recording on a new track on top of the video track, then I just crop it into a small rectangle. Turn down the opacity and there yah have it. Follow my in the description, I show behind the scene stuff :)
