  • Today we test out a precision 12ga slug designed and fabricated by a viewer from California. We had a number of failures initially, but after some re-calibrations, managed to save the day and get the slugs functioning quite well.

If people understood just how dangerous the Welsh Rabbit is, they would understand the need for this slug. Many knights have fallen to this savage beast, and they're usually hunted by elite forces using very specialised hand grenades from Antioch. These have been in short supply due to global supply challenges, so it's good that there's now something completely different. Especially as the Welsh Rabbit is delicious on toast.

First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three. No more. No less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then, lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.

@@kirtoverseas I know. It's not deadly or painful enough for them to be useful to the US military. Now if they could put a Plutonium core in there surrounded by some C4 and could eject a stream of white phosphorus through some rear jet ports as it travels in flight then they might just get it into testing as a peacekeeping round.

Pretty nice results! It is a cleverly adjusted compromise between an armor-piercing and an expanding projectile. But still, I would love to see a diabolo-shaped or fin-stabilized version of this slug, so that it could potentially be loaded hot enough for its penetrator to effectively go through the AR500 plate.

The Anonymous donor from Wales reminds me of a story:
A fellow trekking through the English countryside stopped at a small pub and ordered a pint. At the table next to him sat two obviously hefty gals loudly conversing with a very strong accent.
Curious, the fellow asked, "Excuse me ladies, but would you two happen to be from Scotland?"
"It's WALES, you idiot!" sneered one of them.
"I beg your pardon," he answered. "Would you two whales happen to be from Scotland?"

This makes me wonder if building a shotgun that could take much higher pressures, and then use a soft-metal sabot instead of plastic.
If a multi-metal projectile could be run hotter, and be kept stable in flight, it would become something the military might be interested in.

You get penetration from velocity. The problem with this round is that with all the aluminum, copper, and brass, it's too heavy to propel fast enough to permit the hardened-steel core to penetrate. If you could figure a way to apply all that energy to just the steel core, leaving out the rest of the slug, you might see more penetration.
Or you could just use a rifle.

The Gel Block Test you can clearly see the 2 petals on the bottom side of the Block pop out one at a time but still close together that's why the arrow shaped wound chanel 4 petals of metal and then Hardened Core going all the way out the Back.💀
