Your skin may be too sensitive for it. Glycolic acid is actually a very very strong exfoliant. Or you're not waiting enough time in between applying the glycolic acid and the niacinamide. She mentioned in the video waiting sometime in between applying products.

I like Paula choice niacinamide toner bc I don’t use a serum with it (since it already has niacinamide) ❤. Personally I keep my face care super simple. Here’s my routine for enlarged pores (that happened when I used something super harsh on my face and ruined my skin barrier 🙃) - 1) salicylic acid washer 2) toner - at night I use the ceraVee retinol 3) ceraVee regular lotion 4) sunscreen. It’s been about three months and I’ve seen insane results

Glycolic acid cannot be used on a daily basis, it will burn your skin. In addition to niacinamide, you can add alpha-arbutin, vitamin C, vitamin A (be careful, you want to build this up as it can also damage your face and it can only be used at night). If you use vitamin A, you MUST use a sunscreen with SPF 50 and you cannot use it every day. You might want to check out Dr V's youtube channel if you have darker skin. She has quite a few routines for dealing with dark spots. For example, I cannot use oils on my skin, not even rose hip oil. And your age will determine how long it will take you to get rid of your dark spots. Assuming you do not have melasma instead of dark spots caused by pimples.
That Niacinimide from The Ordinary is awful, many many people gets mad breakouts from that one! But your skin is glowing and beautiful! Keep up the good work❤

New to skincare learnt to start with calm stuffs than the so popular ones then would gradually go upwards and it's working. Glycolic would dry you out, Rose water would too and we don't need it to dry out our oils so try Nivea Micellar Water first remember its a toner too but much milder. Although I switch them don't use the Rosewater daily maybe 3 days and Micellar Water the other days it's a hydrating toner. Remember to start gradually would also love to get ordinary but if Rosewater is this drying how much more something like ordinary. Start small our skin react different it works differently for everyone.

There are a lot of other products that are better for your skin and hyperpigmentation. I like the Azelaic acid from Inkey List, and I'm so inlove with their Beta Hydroxy Acid. My skin has never been this clear and even. Of course these products can be drying, so I use 2-3 drops of Rosehip oil from the Inkey List(the one from The Ordinary is good too) just to add back moisture in my skin. My skin looks so balanced, never oily!
Like she said in the video, she is waiting anywhere between 5 and 10 minutes between each application of a product. That may make the difference especially for someone with sensitive skin.

Make sure your face is DRY before using the glycolic acid as well. And DO NOT use every day!!!
