Search for the wreck of HMAS Vampire I

  • HMA Ships Leeuwin and Diamantina are curently deployed off the coast of Sria Lanka in the Indian Ocean in search of the wreck of HMAS Vampire. The hydrographic survery ship and minehunter will search the seafloor for the lost destroyer, which was sunk by Japanese aircraft during the Second World War on 9 April 1942. Nine members of Vampire's company were killed.
    HMAS Leeuwin brings advanced scanning equipment and data processing systems to the search while Diamantina can employ strong SONAR, remotely operated vehicles and her team of Navy Clearance Divers.
    The search will be conducted in partnership with the Sri Lankan Navy.

      the second one was a daring class its still afloat, the one there looking for is the first vampire it was a v&w class

      The Vampire they’re talking about was a V class destroyer sold to the RAN. Wrong ship I’m afraid
