Even if you live in the few states where the original bans were in operation before Roe v Wade, you simply cross state lines. In ANY state the doctor will save the life of the mother when the pregnancy threatens it. They try to save both when it's possible. Catholic mothers have fought the medical profession to keep the baby when it threatens the life of the mother. Women with cancer often refuse chemotherapy for months until the baby can be safely by C-section You're simply misinformed.
