Been trying it for a month or so now. AI needs improvement (It said my empanada had 5 calories? I wish lol) but that said it’s been effortless to log everything and I really appreciate how I can customize my protein goals.
The app itself and the features are really good. However, i suffered a bit with the database as it doesn't include many of foods in my region (Middle East) so I had to log it manually or create new foods which took a long time from me.
My biggest problem with these fitness influencer apps are that they don’t have regional pricing which is limiting how much users they could get take me based in South Africa where 1 US dollar equals almost 20 South African Rands it can be a not so cheap option for many to take and other countries might have it even worse
I recommend it to clients as an option as an RD and talk about how it uses AI. Have had one personal trainer colleague use it. Not a lot of experience with it yet. People are moving away from myfitnespal since the pay walls and ads have ruined it. There also is lifesum, fitbit, chronometer, loseit, sparkpeople, nutritionix. There are a lot of options. Can't say I've tried them all either.
@@LucidLivingYT my workaround is either adding a custom food, or finding a similar product. i.e. the zaziki of one store brand has probably almost the same macros as the other one. at least with German products that works quite well.

Also if he is gonna say his app is the best he will have to compare to the other apps in this regard too, so I believe it’s very fair to criticise the app for this.

Also Lose It!, "Calorie Counter - MyNetDiary", Cronometer are all more popular than MacroFactor, and Noom has a ton of apps that trade up and down the rankings with it. Also you have to separate out the apps that basically require subscriptions for almost any features vs those that have quite a bit.

Macrofactor was life changing for me. 96 days in and down 24 lbs. I am also gaining a fair amount of muscle with your Upper Lower program. I should hit my weight loss target in mid august and my muscle target probably in about another year :)

I don’t get that feature unless I pay an upgrade fee. Also, they can offer subscription and lifetime models. Similar to how Microsoft sells Office products. You can get office 2024 for a lifetime only receiving security updates, and also you can subscribe to Office so that you always get the newest features!
I actually like that MFP is just a logger. In my experience the computer trying to determine your metabolism or calories burned is almost always off and complicates things.
It’s been invaluable to me. I’m 5’4” male, 130lbs, every TDEE calculator online had me at 1800 calories to maintain. Logging and weighing daily on Macrofactor, I’m currently maintaining at 3000 calories a day. It’s been incredibly accurate for me.
I did the trial a few weeks ago and I was sold!! It has the quickest food logger, and the bar code scanner is the fastest I've seen..very user-friendly, once you get used to the interface... I am VERY impressed so far!!! ❤👍🏼

@potassiumchloride5492 yeah anything you will need is available with the free version: large database, micronutrient tracking, custom recipes. I’ve never felt the need to buy the full version because the free has everything i need. Much better than any other food tracking app i’ve tried
As much as I would love to support creators, I don't need another subscription in my life. If there was an option to purchase a liftetime option, I would possibly consider it, if of course the price is worth considering. Best of luck with your endeavors!

I stand by the free version of my fitness pal. Its limited in customization but i more or less know how to set up my goals due to the ammount of info from channels like this ive absorbed so i use the tracker to see how many calories, protein fat carbs and water im sucking in and track my goals seperately. If youre goals are less oddly specific than mine which is highly likely then the free version and their goals will be fine but ive optimised mine a bit more specifically for me and i cant set "custom" goals in the free version the way id like

I used my fitness pal for months during the beginning of my bulk and it worked fine. Definitely wasn’t perfect but the barcode scanner is a must for me makes it way easier to scan and go, although it wasn’t accurate in the macros it’s easily adjustable. I’ll give yours a try. And for you Jeff your triceps workout have increased my arm size so much I can’t thank you enough, I was only building my small head and biceps for a long time and couldn’t figure out why my arms weren’t getting bigger 🤣

I love your advice and your videos, I've learned so much and its always so easily digestible (pun kinda intended.) But omg that countertop makes you look soooooo short.
I prefer "eat this much" because you can input your calorie and macro goals and it'll give you meal plans that fit perfectly within (you can also change how many meals, and the sizes of the meals in preferences)
I gave the free trial ago, a massive factor I didn't really like is that when you scan foods add only contains ones in the US so I have to manually put in all the macros of every single food I have.
Hey just a tip if you live in a country outside of the Anglo ones id suggest first looking for apps developed in your country or close to your country since those apps usually have more broad archives of the food you buy. Personally i use one devolped in Finland.

I will still use my good old Google sheet. Free and works just as good as I want/need.
Genuine question: Why does the app calculate protein requirement based on current weight and not lean body weight for someone trying to lose weight?

That sounds amazing. How does Macrofactor detect changes in one's metabolism? I would be super interested in something like this.
It just plots your weight against your caloric intake, so if you chart calories inaccurately it will swing in either direction.
