    Fishing vests often have a D ring too that could be an attachment point.
    Thanks for the tip.😊

    Great idea on the bungee harness, Scott. My wife, who has no interest in metal detecting, loved the video...well, the scenes Daisey was in. Beautiful pup!

    best Damn idea I've seen yet. I don't wear a backpack but I think I could adapt this to an over the shoulder or cross body strap.

      Worked like a champ for me especially doing all days hunts at DIV this year.

      stopped by harbor freight and grabbed some of those bungee cords. I have a cross body strap I use for hunting ill tether it to. If I'm finding stuff I can swing that coil for hours without a break, but today I took the AT out with the Nel Storm coil on it and its definitely hard to swing for more then a couple hours. I usually go detecting for 6+ hours at a time this bungee idea is gonna be sweet and cheap.

    I just bought my first detector, CTX 3030 with Pro-Swing 45 harness, delivered 11/27/2020. I have bad shoulders. I’ve already learned the J-strut does make a difference in weight distribution. Hooking bungee to side without the J-strut causes the machine to pull on my shoulder, causing instant discomfort. It will take considerable adjusting / tweaking to get harness just right (for me anyway), but could not detect without it due to my circumstances.

    Your dog is a sweetheart! I tried a bungee but didn't last too long (bad back) I'll give your method a go. Cheers from Oz.

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Chris. Yep I agree she is a sweetheart :-) As far as the bungee goes, I just got back from 2 full 12 hour days of hunting a Civil War site using that machine and let me tell you, without the bungee I wouldn't have been able to do 2 full days. It really helped me out.

      I had to rush over and see it :-) but yes different idea I suppose. I just want weight to be off my arm for those long days of hunting. Thanks Patty.

      Man what a beautiful dog. I moved from rural Texas to the big city for a better job. Had to let my dog go to a friend'. She was a very well trained Catahoula, lab cross and an awesome friend. I sure do miss her.

    What brand/type of back pack are you wearing? Haven't been able to find one with the D rings so I could use the harness setup like you did. Awesome idea and thanks! Just saved me some serious $$$$.

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Lynn, I picked mine up at Dicks Sporting Goods. Its not a big brand name. I just picked one that was under $40. I think I saw a few at Walmart as well. The type I have is made for hikers. I can fit my detector in it and it has a support shell that distributes the weight evenly.

    Scrap iron is going for about .02 per lb...........so looks like u had about 10 lbs there...maybe.....20 cents.......so a few more hunts and you'll have your bungies paid for! haha....joking.....did you rig that up because of the wireless thing u added or is that machine just on the heavy side? Good fix regardless

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll give you all my scrap and pay you an additional 20 cents to take it :-) I don't like the way the TDI is balanced and I can't get the different shafts anymore for some reason. I also have a 15 inch Cannon coil for it so I predict PAIN for 3 straight days of when I attend the DIV hunt in late March. This should help a lot.
