You remember the piston drama on the trial run, you just don't know when the doo doo is going to hit the prop. Redundancies where ever possible for those less familiar trips, nothing worse than having to wait to be recovered when you know your very capable and something daft is preventing progress. Thats why you need the BMW engine in there to carry all the rubbish lol.
I completely agree mate. I guess I do have a backup as I can run exactly the same programs on my phone if the head unit fails but I will be sorting out some paper back up for future longer trips.
Unfortunately they have gone up around $30au since I brought my one but Amazon is still the cheapest I have found for it. www.amazon.com.au/Vexilar-SP200-T-Box-Smartphone-Finder/dp/B00CJJBMDO/ref=asc_df_B00CJJBMDO/?tag=googleshopmob-22&linkCode=df0&hvadid=341743161060&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=31170647050089616&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9072225&hvtargid=pla-409441790804&psc=1
Great idea! I have been wanting to put something like that in my boat for a while now. I didnt know they existed. I will have to look into them and add it to the list. Did you buy it online?
I wouldn't hesitate to install one mate. Especially if you don't have any sort of depth sounder at all this even running through your phone will work very well wwww.amazon.com.au/Vexilar-SP200-T-Box-Smartphone-Finder/dp/B00CJJBMDO/ref=asc_df_B00CJJBMDO/?tag=googleshopmob-22&linkCode=df0&hvadid=341743161060&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=31170647050089616&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9072225&hvtargid=pla-409441790804&psc=1
The Sonarphone is designed to penetrate through the hull. Maybe does not work with your hull but goes through my fibreglass hull just fine. Navionics no longer supports this device. Do not upgrade your software if it is working!! It is frustrating when you use this device because your phone or whatever device is stuck on the sonarphone wifi. You lose your data connection. The sonarphone wont change to another network if you have one. Also frustrating, the sonarphone reports 0 depth when water depth is beyond its range.
nice gadget, wish we had those back in the 90's when we had our boat!!
I love it so far, works flawlessly.
Nice work sir

Excellent job Tim.
Do you have a link to where you purchased the sounder ?

Is this still working with your navionics app? Just got one and it works in the sonar phone app but not on navionics
I'm reading that in the reviews online wondering the same. Figure just split screen the 2 apps
Sorry for the very very delayed response. I haven't actually ran it for a few months to confirm but last time I used it ( 2months ago) it worked
Hi. How do you find it after 1 year? Navionics apparently dropped the support for it right?
I still like the system and i do believe they did drop the support but i haven't updated my software so for now its still working

Thanks for the heads up mate i will be sure not to update to the later version. I will have to try it through the hull and see what happens
