This is Us Actress Bahara Golestani is on the Daily Mix

Meet Phoenix native Bahara Golestani of NBC’s “This is us.” She is the newest addition on NBC’s hit series “This is Us” currently airing Tuesday nights on NBC. A graduate of the world-renowned Steller Adler Academy of Acting & Theatre and also a voiceover actor, Golestani is also best known for her roles in TNT’s “Animal Kingdom” and her other current projects include 6 UNDERGROUND on Netflix and “Dirty John.” Born in Kabul, Afghanistan, Bahara (age 4) and her family were forced to flee the country and became war refugees in Moscow. They ultimately became sponsored by the UN in Moscow helping her and her family move to America and eventually residing in Phoenix, Arizona to start a new life.

Good for her! Hopefully, she inspires other Afghan women (someday - currently it's doubtful that any women in Afghanistan will ever be able to achieve what she has). Up until the 1970s, Afghanistan was very westernized and progressive: many of its doctors and teachers were women. That all changed after the Soviet invasion and then the Taliban taking over.
