This track has a depth, a vastness to it. It is something special, if not a gift to help one feel.. the universe. Atleast, I speak for myself. House saved my life!
Filtered chords... all damn day long. I have the original vinyl, mightve played it 10? times? Not because I didnt love it, but because it was one of the first tracks that i transferred to mp3 and began a more software based mix setup. people ask what makes this song so infectious, simple, but hard to say. THAT sample, Freddie Hubbard's "Little Sunflower", filter to all get out... and chords, and ULTRA long mix, slow, brooding, the sampled clavs, synth blurbbles, so many fucking elements!. THIS is house, not French house, but HOUSE. Played at the beginning of a set, at the end, the middle, it doesnt stop bringing what people want to hear. Top ten? For the next 20 years!

Don't care HOW MANY TIMES I HEAR/PLAY IT... I NEVER GET TIRED OF LISTENING TO/HEARING IT. IT JUST THAT DOPE!!! THIS SONG is SPACY....MULTIDIMENSIONSAL!
The music combined with the cover art gives this album/song such a surreal atmosphere, like I’m trapped in some black abyss watching these... things chant to the beat. I’m really zoning out here but regardless an absolute classic.
The LP title is "Pépé Bradock & The Grand Brûlé's Choir". Grand brûlé is an expression in French to talk about people having suffered from severe burns, usually in fires. So, the disfigured faces of these people, seemingly singing in a choir, makes sense in that light as heavily burnt skin can leave you disfigured for life.
First heard this on the Gilles Peterson WorldWide CD back around 2000 and it blew my mind as to what house music could be. It's been deep burnt on my conscious ever since. Lifetime top-10 material
2 more tracks to use the same string sample are Akabu feat. Linda Clifford - Ride The Storm (Joey Negro Mixes) and Fred P - "Trust". As Dazdillinja72 said the sample is taken from Freddie Hubbard & Al Jarreau "Little Sunflower".
" Sweet sounding Rhythms, The syth was played superbly, EXTREMELY Atmospheric, I LIKE DAT ! " And have heard the track before, same feelings ALWAYS ,...NICE ! "
