I saw Beth in 1993 when she played what was then Elon College in NC. She was fresh off her Star Search win and wowing folks with that incredible voice.
After the show we went to a Waffle House and who pulls up after us, but Beth! We gave her space, until my then boyfriend's mom couldn't stand it and had to go tell Beth how amazing she was. Beth was SO NICE and ended up sitting with us for a while just chatting away. We bought her meal and parted ways. I will NEVER forget that night

I've heard a ton of blues guitar solos in my day but this one, for my money, is WAY up at the top of the list when it comes to being a PERFECT complement to the singer. It's like he somehow channeled the very essence of Beth's soul-searing, heart-breaking, gut-wrenching vocal performance directly into his guitar. Sure, there are players who could throw in a hundred more notes and rip through them at the speed of light but THIS is a masterful display of taste and soul and a perfect demonstration of the old saying, "Less is more." Just freakin' Wow.

Thank you for bringing this to us. Joe Bonnamasa is an amazing gift to us all. My first time hearing Beth Hart. Love her. However, for me no one can do I’d Rather Go Blind better than the great Etta James. After hearing it at least 100 times, it can still bring me to tears. I feel her ache from being so deeply in love like this. I believe her words when she sings that she would rather give up her sight than see him leave with another woman.
