Pokémon GO Needs Polish and Fixes, Not New Features!

- For the past several months, Niantic has been pushing for more new mechanics and systems in Pokémon GO. Yet what the game needs beyond new stuff is fixes to what is already there. In this video, I will be making the case that Pokémon GO would be better off if Niantic invested their resources into fixing Raids and PVP!

Pokémon Go is a 2016 augmented reality (AR) mobile game developed and published by Niantic in collaboration with The Pokémon Company for iOS and Android devices. A part of the Pokémon franchise, the game is the result of a collaboration between Niantic, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. It uses the mobile device GPS to locate, capture, battle, and train virtual creatures, called Pokémon, which appear as if they are in the player's real-world location. The game is free to play; it uses a freemium business model and supports in-app purchases for additional in-game items. The game launched with around 150 species of Pokémon, which had increased to around 500 by 2019.
Pokémon Go was released to mixed reviews; critics praised the concept, but criticized technical problems. It was one of the most used and profitable mobile apps in 2016, having been downloaded more than 500 million times worldwide by the end of the year. It is credited with popularizing location-based and AR technology, promoting physical activity, and helping local businesses grow due to increased foot traffic. However, it attracted controversy for contributing to accidents and creating public nuisances. Various governments expressed concerns about security, and some countries regulate its use. By early 2019, the game had over a billion global downloads, grossing over $3 billion in revenue. The game also had over 147 million monthly active users as of May 2018.
Can't polish it if Niantic isn't listening
You'd think Niantic would take player feedback into consideration. Despite Niantic basically screwing over the playerbase and basically scamming us for overpriced "experimental" bundles, and shitty game mechanics. This game is a basically a cash grab and has a pokemon name slapped on top of
It's sad that it became this way. They seem more interested in lining their pockets over creating amazing experiences. Ironic because they would make way more revenue if they focused on the players.
Count Jinsula is the biggest hypocrite of all Pogo content creators in TH-cam. He tells people to leave a comment if they don’t agree but then blocks them from posting. What a joke! Go ahead and block me now like what you’ve been doing and what you’re known for.
Looks like Count Jinsula is the one who needs some polishing.
sounds like this little snowflake got banned for a reason, stay triggerd, cuck LMAO
Is there a Reddit thread on this or screenshots ? How do you know
What is actually your comment about what you disagree with him? I mean obviously he did not delete or block this comment where you attacked Count Jinsula.
@@jeffallanday This guy is just mentally ill and parasocial, they go from hyper fans to hyper haters as soon as the youtuber doesn't like or reply to them. Best to ignore the scenarios that they create in their heads.
Game is severely outdated and I feel myself playing less and less and it sucks. I don’t ever see myself playing like 3-4 years ago where I would be mostly excited about events. Now it’s a chore with so many events back to back nonstop.
And then when there's an event downtime it's like there's nothing to do and it's the same ol boring wild spawns that we've had for months
@@diablocellJust like last season with damn quaxly, spirigatto, fuecoco, smoliv, NONE can be shiny, they’re just fillers and take up ROOM for actual pokemon that can be shiny. That’s the exact same thing that’s going on now with Grookie, sobble, and Skorbunny. I am so SICK of looking at those three just like the last three paldean that was realeased. Theirs more of those dumb spawns than ANYTHING out in the wild, even with an event going on. I literally drive to play now, and all I see is sobble, sobble, grookie, skorbunny, pidgey, galarian ponyta, galarian ponyta, galarian ponyta, galarian ponyta, OH WAIT THEIRS A LILIPUP, galarian ponyta, OH WAIT THEIRS AN EKANS, sobble sobble, grookie, slot bunny skorbunny, galarian ponyta, regular ponyta, OH LOOK AN ACTUAL Galarian daramuka (what the event is about with koffing as well) I mean the spawn rates are terrible!! Theirs more FILLER pokemon (sobble, grookie, skorbunny) than there is ANYthing else and it’s driving me crazy!! They can’t be shiny, GO AWAY!!
@The_Cherokee_Gypsy I totally get it. It's like 90% of the time legendary raids don't have their legacy move. Great, thanks, so this one sucks AND can't be shiny. Elite TMs should be for community day moves. Not a requirement or else your legendary hundo is useless.
I think the most pressing matter atm is how often the game crashes/freezes per day. A restart doesn't take to long and it happening every so often isn't a big deal. But right now for myself, my partner and a large amount of our community it's happening 5+ sometimes up to and over 10 times each day. A majority of these are from clicking (intentional or not) on max battles and the game immediately freezing. It's getting to the point where the reset is just muscle memory as it's every hour or sometimes 30mins.
One of the reasons why the community is pissed about, but Niantic don't care anyways for their downfall to come around, the new raid system is still kinda janky for me
Poland, here's your one chance to shine!
I just got back into the game about 2 months ago and with all these features that have been added since then, it makes it hard to keep up with powering up my pokemon. I think the base candy amount for catching should go up a little bit.
Dope vid Count , nailed it
You are right, Count, Niantic has completely whiffed on many of the new things that they have brought to the table lately. Dynamax was fun when it was the Kanto Starters (yea, I know... it's the year of Kanto (AGAIN)). So what do they do for October... give us the Galarian Starters (YAWN!) and Falinks (which we just had a Raid Day for in September) FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH. I already have decent Dynamax mons in the starter types. Why not put in types that haven't been featured (I'd be OK with Psychic too since Beldum was prematurely yanked) so that people would be interested in engaging with the new mechanic? I also can't see too many people being excited (unless they really like the Galar Starters or Falinks) towards the end of the month, unless they put something different in. I'll get one starter each to say it's in my Dex and I will go after Falinks with some fervor since I was shut out of a shiny during Raid Day. Otherwise, I won't be going like I did with the Kanto Starters, who were actually worth something since they can Mega Evolve. Solution: Put in different types and rotate them more often. Raids work since they rotate 3-4 times a month, so there's at least something new every 7-10 days. Dynamax are essentially mini-raids. Use the same parameters!!!
I can't think of the last time my Wife and I did Party Play... they're just extra field researches with mediocre at best rewards that don't really count towards anything. Maybe if there was a badge like Field Researches have, I would think about it more. The shared items doesn't do much either except for maybe Community Day when it's great to pump up the amount of XP or Dust if you have more than one friend playing with you.
Routes too if you've already done/have a non-elite Zygarde. Though at least there's the Expert Navigator badge if you have routes in your locality. Otherwise, there isn't much incentive there either. Maybe if both Party Play and Routes had exclusive Pokemon or something really cool beyond the Zygarde cells.
Completely agree. Even Rocket balloon battles glitch out too. Hope they fix PVP and Raids!
Pokemon Go destroyed the community by the double price to raid. No one in lobby makes the game feel like no one is playing in your areas. Makes it so stale.
I liked this new Dinamax feature, I’ve been using it to farm candies, I’m kinda new / returning player
The rare candies is nice but don't love the rest of it
Agree that they need to pause the new features they can't help wasting time on: routes, party play(only use on shadow t5 or max battles), etc which I don't use often or care to. If they're going to make a new one: make a free random raid pool encounter to daily do. Not all players are mobile or get out or have time for raids.
Things to go back to fix: raid dodging, raid damage+boss moves being better calibrated not to spam too much. breakthrough boxes having legendary or bring it back as a reward doing 4 weekly boxes, though would love a way to pay random pokemon candy to influence the boxes legendary like 100 charmander candy to limit monthly box to fire legendary. Making rocket grunts give radar pieces if you already have radars, they still give shadow shards for stacked purified gems so could do same for radars. Give free storage instead of constant paid storage, I'd be fine with 100-500 at least. Fix the daily store reward that only gives trash times.
Ive never liked PVP in pokemon go and the only thing that will make me actually grind it is if they did a complete redesign of the current system
It's the whole "play now cuz it's gonna get better later" but it never really does.
In fact, it always gets worse.
@@CountJinsulaOfficial it's actually an interesting and terrible business practice in the tech field. Release a substandard product with the promise it will get better. Watch the MKHB video on the rabbit AI pin for reference.
Honestly, Dynamax is stupid. Max battles are a cool concept, but I literally just find myself completely ignoring dynamax and max battle gyms 😂 So pointless. Never a shiny. Same boring pokemon. Can’t get the beldum without having 3 charzairds I’m just over it. They can keep their dynamax and max battles. All it is is a nuisance for me to catch regular pokemon. I try to tap on a pokemon next to a max battle gym, and it goes to the gym instead of the pokemon, so at this point it’s just boring and pointless.
What I like about dynamax is that you can get a candy every so often. That's the value to me. I'm not excited about a whole new side project otherwise.
I did a Drampa raid today (my first raid in months) and it was so hard! It was incredibly laggy, my health would magicly drop in massive chunks, and then once the boss was half health it would not stop spamming charged attacks. It was an awful experience!
Wish remote raids encounters were guaranteed catches as long as you win the raid. Everytime I lose the catch after, it sucks.
No cap, I like how the legendaries spam charge moves sometimes lol some of my friends used to brag how they don’t dodge anything and still win. Well not anymore!! A freaking legendary should be a challenge after all. It’s fun to dodge the attacks. Feels more engaging.
I really haven’t had any issues with raids. I’m not sure what everyone’s on about. I know people were talking about Groudon spamming charged attacks, but I never noticed that. I haven’t had trouble beating any raids.
We used to have a lot of players in lobby ready to help. And friends would help if you sent an invite. But they doubled the price so friends can’t help like they used to. Also some of us like being able to help others that may live in rural areas. I am one of them but i am not pay to win, so i can’t help like when the game was fun.
The fundamental issue in pogo for me is that the term 'training' is totally misrepresented: pokemons cannot be trained within pogo. You just need to catch a better IV pokemon! And Niantic constantly moves goal posts by changing moves' stats and levels, which from time to time destroys our investments.
I 100% agree with this
Pvp sucks. I try different teams and sometimes it goes well. Sometimes i might as well not even try. There doesnt seem to be a clear path to improving.
Recently, ive been annoyed by events that feature pokemon that were recently catchable but not clearly important so you saw no need to focus on them. The current event with the trade pokemon challenge...wish id known when those pokemon were more common that i would need them. None of them were individually very important. Then they were but i havent seen them in the wild during the event.
I don't play like I used to about 3-4 years ago now there's hardly anything to shiny hunt, only thing that keeps me pretty much entertained on this game now is working on gold gyms 😅
It needs a way to get existing origin forms their moves too
I think you are wrong, new features ARE necessary, but you are right they need to tie in better.
Raids are dying in part because of bugs yes, but also because it’s just the same Pokémon on a cycle, Hardcores already have their Hundos and XL, casuals have something they are happy with, but in general it’s tired - people aren’t travelling to do raids and groups are in general smaller outside of Wednesdays raid hour.
The Dynamax reset is interesting, but I think once the initial impact dies down and people see it as being a hard reset it will annoy a lot of players.
PvP needs a complete rework!
I’ve been saying it since before it was introduced: Battles need to be turn based, especially in a niche mobile game such as this.
I can’t get past 2300 in PvP without getting a ton of cheaters shutting me down. They always seem to know what I have in the back via discord cheat. More meta point: they lost the plot in 2022. Things were fun up until Christmas 2022.
Nothing last forever. Maybe it’s fun for new players but players that been here since day one.. yes it’s boring. They can’t make both sides happy (meaning new and old players). Some players want to catch them all. Other players want better IVs Pokémon. Leveling up from 1-40 was a lot of fun. After that.. it becomes more challenging rather than fun.
I disagree. They most certainly can make both sides happy. None of the gameplay and technical issues are there for the sake of newer players. They actually affect new players as well. For example, Raid battles having awful issues right now will also prevent new players from enjoying and completing Raids.
There's too many features aka chores in the game and feels overwhelming.
Niantic doesn’t have a hotline or a mail in system for this exact reason, they do not want to make the experience better for players. Crazy that Pokemon and its share holders are not holding Niantic accountable
I play rocket and battle league and I get weak connection and then have to close poke go and come back then raids I lost 2 pass and zacain after 3 x I got a shiny after fighting for it
Niantic should separate Shadow raids from normal raids the same way Dynamax is its own category.
Im playing less and less !! Niantic's Fault!!! 1000%
This is why people where throwing up red flags with the whole "interesting problems" comments 3-4 years, if your not a games company and your not hiring game programmers; then of course everything is going to be "well creating is more interesting then fixing (and oh hey if its an AR piece that can be ported to PGo that's a bonus: Party play, routes, etc)"
I don't see them fixing PvP unless TPC makes them (which they probably won't because it overlaps with MSG PvP), its a loss leader and Niantic would have to come around to understanding anchoring player habit loops.
We need a house in Pokemon go. We also need a bike and car mode
They also need to communicate more...like why did Beldum all of a sudden disappear from DynaMax battles? I was actively engaging in those battles and enjoying them and was under the impression that they would last until end of the month.
Same, wife and I saved up a day of MP so that we could do 2 days worth of more beldums and they were gone. I was able to get 1 decent one without spending money on mp packs. Is this how it's gonna be? Dmax rotate so often if you want one you gotta spend? Ugh
Beldum was probably only in dmax battles for the psychic spectacular event
Quantity over quality definitely feels like Niantic’s business model. They already have a bunch of dead games on their resumé.
Which one is better the shield or sword legendary Pokémon ?
In terms of Pokémon GO, sword
@@CountJinsulaOfficial thanks
Next do a video on the real -time event nerf on trade a Pokémon research over the weekend . First day I got 71, second day I got a little over 20 and yesterday I saw I rise on research with a flood of other research options. ALMOST EVERY SPINNER pops SCAN spinner when I’m out in the wild now
Here's a pro tip. You can only have 1 scan task at a time. So if you keep one, and never do it, you won't get them anymore.
@@diablocell thank you
Personally I'm bored most of the time because I've been playing this game everyday since launch which is over 8 years ago! I've never played a game anywhere near that long on any platform. I'm enjoying max battles and have lost interest in raids once I accepted I won't get every shiny or 100% of every legendary as it's too expensive and too time consuming. I'm more of a casual player than I used to be because I don't want this game to run my life.
True i think the game needs more fixes
It gets boring when it's the same wild spawns in rotation and the things you buy that supposed to be rare or whatever eventually gets released then charge you twice as much when they bring it back. The game is definitely lacking but Niantic will still get there money from player going to go fest and safari zones and whoever buys those ridiculous bundles in the shop. It's like Niantic constantly slapping there players in there face and in there tos they basically in clear fine line said your money does not matter to them if something happened they are not responsible blah blah it's like they are constantly battling there community when they should be appreciating people's hard earned money. Niantic can make pokemon great they just choose to stick to there corporate ways instead of what the players like or want. Like in call of duty you could be a terrifier Cody Rhodes Rey mysterio the crow Michael Myers. People spend 20$ on it because they know they are getting there money's worth instead of dropping on games like pokemon go where things you pay for aint always guaranteed because like y'all content creators would say it's all RNG based bull crap. But people spend hundreds of dollars trying to obtain a shiny they really want where someone gets it in 1 raid is just a weird system. They do great events but they are always overseas where alot of people would never be able to do especially now how expensive everything is. On top of doing raids your also on a 5 limit which what made alot of people leave because now we are being controlled on how much we can do which is fine but why can't they make the limit 10 or 20 because odd are for a shiny legendary is 1-20 so that should be the limit then use a limit but 5 is what drove alot of people away. The only thing that gets old players back in is new shiny releases and old pokemon like a armored Mewtwo but even that won't work and Niantic still don't care because new players join everyday
I do wish the bugs in game got fixed but do like new things in the game I’m not a PVPer so don’t care about that really
I HAAAAATE PVP. I do it to get elite TMs, and that's it. If there. was a better way to get them I would only do PVP when quests demand them, and then only grudgingly.
Yes! PVP sucks. I enjoy it sometimes but then I go 1 for 5 and it just seems like what is the point. I'd like better rewards...more rare candies.
Rare candies would make it more enticing, for sure.
hey be careful they attack anyone who complains
I still can’t see friends in my party 🙄
My adventure sync still doesn't work properly :( can anyone help me out ?
I wish TPCI would step in and take the brand away from Niantic
Wish I could play master league but you need level 50 legendaries. I’m not going to spoof or spend hundreds of dollars for that bs
Master league is Money league and everyone cheats anyway. There's no point in caring about your score
Dont need legendaries. For example a snorlax and obstagoon can totally shut down mewtwo and giratina and dawn wings. See what people are using then have a look what you have
just make dmax better and more useful and we’re good
I'm level 48 and need 5 more platinum badges. I'm working on gym defender and XXL/XXS.
Does anyone have a list of which pokedex badges are able to be completed right now?
Vivillion Collector is pretty easy to platinum. There are a lot of sites you can find people from parts of the world to help. I am level 48 with 36 platinum medals. Here are the ones I have Kanto, Collector, Scientist, Sightseer, Battle Girl, Pikachu Fan, Johto, Berry Master, Gym Leader, Hoenn, Pokemon Ranger, Idol, Gentleman, Pilot, Hero, Triathlete, Rising Star, Vivillion.
Oh i missed what you were asking. Kanto, Johto, Hoenn are completable. Unova is also able to be completed if you bought Keldeo.
I’m lvl 47. Make sure all of your Pokemon Type medals are Platinum. I’ve played since the beginning, but never been hardcore and these are my Platinum medals.
Jogger, Kanto, collector, scientist, breeder, backpacker, battle girl, pikachu fan, johto, berry master, gym leader, hoenn, Pokémon ranger, idol, great league veteran, ultra league veteran, master league veteran, cameraman, hero, triathlete, rising star, raid expert, and showcase. With the type medals this should be over the 35 needed.
Some may be grindy, some are time-gated, but these were the easiest ones for me.
@jeffallanday that's what I was looking for.. is there a website maybe that shows them and how to get it? Like which ones are regional, only eggs, etc
@Make2wo I forgot about showcases I think I'm at like 52 on that. Pikachu fan like 700. I need a pikachu event 😂
The problem is POGO has no competition. If a developer came along and did Digimon with the same format like POGO pvp, we'll see improvements.
If another AR game came along with the same amount or more effort it would be a PGo killer. No one is going to walk around playing 2 of these games. We already hate doing it for 1.
I have always said this game feels like it is coded by 3 college students. Okay for a small low budget game to be a buggy mess. It's embarrassing that Niantic is our dev. Almost as bad as Activision.. 🙄
Yeah there's no proper oversight and tons of amateur-ish mistakes. As someone who once worked in the game industry for a much smaller studio, it blows my mind just how poorly their devs handle simple changes. Unity isn't a difficult platform to develop on and the game is simple enough where complex code isn't necessary.
A common problem with asian game studios is they have no clue what their player base wants
9:48 hence why i went into Exile, Nerfantic is overtly spiteful towards their audience Count
Fix bugs then add features in that order lol not hard
the game is in a declining state because niantic won’t listen to simple suggestions. many players are in the same camp as you, we love the game but we really wish niantic would actually pretend to care
This game is so broken atm
It IS unplayable; that’s why I stopped playing it.
Why not create a video asking your viewers to report the bug fixes?
If everyone uploaded their battle history in game like we all should be doing niantic would have the data they need to polish pvp. You could do a video showing people how to do so like TH-camrs I’m subscribed to do.
Also you could ask viewers to complain to niantic about the raid issues but you need to be specific, when the community complained about kyogre spamming Blizzard etc. last month niantic placed back on the limiter that stopped the spamming.
I think they are listening but there’s so many people complaining about so many issues that they’re not fixing everything properly, they’re doing bandaid fixes. Like for example I had a remote raid issue this week for zacian, I was kicked midway, couldn’t rejoin, and lost my pass. Niantic gave me my pass back, which is a bandaid fix, but they could’ve worked on connection issues instead which would’ve been the proper fix.
It’s not your job to rally the troops but I think you should seeing as though you have the viewership and ability to make a change.
Anyways hope the game gets better for you ❤
Fired a few people At niantic and I bet you things could get better , they need to hire people that know what they are doing , if I was the pokemon company CEO I’ll take all the data ,rights and resources from Niantic fired them all and have the game under maintenance and have a new development team handle the game and I BET YOU this game would be 10x better
