I’ll never forget my first EX raid with Mewtwo. There was a foot of snow on the ground, it was winter at like 8pm so it was super dark out, and it was near 0°f and the winds were howling. So many cars were in the lot I had to park like a quarter mile away and trudge through the snow to get close enough. After all that it ended up taking so long that I was like the 9th raid lobby that only had a couple people in there and we lost. I was so upset, lol.
Can Niantic just maybe listen to the community and what they want?? Fix the raids? Make stuff more accessible to certain people? Like goddamn Niantic just does not get us and only do what they want or what they THINK we want They don’t get us at all
The community days are kinda ok right now - they are always at the same hours still and they actually last longer than before, due to the raids. And they even made them easy enough to solo for past few CDs, so you can easily play CD for 6 hours, now in time when most people are long after they work. EX Raids model was really perfect, because it secured players that would complete them. On the other hand they were more problematic to get by rural players. Doesn't mean they shouldn't have just do EX Raids mixed with Elites.
@@mjm3091 the problem is that there are people like me that have to work weekends and i work from 5am till 7pm so i miss out. they should make the community days, well, DAYS. what is wrong with making them a full 24hrs so that people like me can actually take part in it. i have literally given up on this game as i have missed so many events and pokemon because of being stuck at work and not being able to attend. they should scrap the name "community day" and just call it "community event" since, its just a few hours so its not really a day.
@@mark211189 then you should still be able to do raids around 7PM for additional encounters and you can still get the CD moves and if you miss something - December redos and seasonal events that bring back older CD mons with their moves are a thing. I got 3 shiny shadow Ekans from them when they were out. I was happy to get them but pissed that I couldn’t get one of the other ones. 2 ok, triplets was annoying.
I played Pokémon Go as a kid the month it released. Most of the time the servers were down. Back then you actually had to pay for data, and my parents weren't going to get a kid in their early teens a data plan, so I was restricted to only playing at home or wherever there was free wifi, like at a store or a hotel or something. I couldn't really do anything at all other than catch the Weedle and Pidgey that occasionally appeared around my house. I could only get items through leveling up since there were no PokéStops anywhere near my house, so when I eventually ran out of Poké Balls, I was basically softlocked unless I went to a place with free wifi with a PokéStop, which didn't really happen much. Makes me wonder who exactly they were expecting to play the game. Back then, kids didn't have phones with data plans like they do today, and before Pokémon Go became a massive cultural phenomenon, Pokémon was largely only seen as a children's game. I really can't say who I think they were targeting when developing it.
I still have a 15/14/13 shiny Zapdos that I got from a research breakthrough on 2/21/19 that no longer shows that it was caught via research breakthrough.
@@morganjary Because Furfrou hasn’t appeared in a game since Gen 7 people will trade anything and I mean anything for one! Legendarys Mythicals Shinies You name it!
Nowadays Niantic’s goal is to frustrate as many people as possible. Whatever is still working guaranteed Niantic will find a way to mess it up. Most recent is the 5 Star raid.
I had the impression that the buddy also brought more gifts than 5 in the past. I noticed that I had to spin a little bit more stops each day to provide my friends with gifts.
Still missing the ex raids and Meowth Ballons 😢 was a great time, working together with the community to get an invite. Since the pandemic, the community fell apart.
#12 It still works until this day. I'm not sure if it's the same as before, but it works. To trigger this function you need to send/remove all of your gifts. Then your buddy will bring 5 gifts from the POI around. It can be done once a day. Sometimes you can even get a gift from a pokestop that has been hidden doe to some edits.
The black kyurem and white kyurem could come back during the Pokémon GO Unova tour, but it will take some time because you have to create fusion energy for them same thing with the last event that we had and instead of catching the fused Pokémon from defeating those fusion raids you’ll get the previously fused Pokémon like Pokémon that was previously fused with it like necrozma so we have to wait a little longer for them to come back as fusion Pokémon
Jessie and James appearing with the Meowth balloon was an event. They were a special event, not really removed, per se. Just only available for a limited time.
I remembered the old gym system. Blissey and Snorlax EVERYWHERE! *shudders*. Also I miss the Jessie And James Balloons. I actually got lucky and got a Shiny Shadow Ekans on the first encounter. Then Koffing, Pinsir, and Scyther. (REALLY regrets evolving that Shiny Shadow Koffing now!) 💀 Also I absolutely HATED those EX raid passes. For Dexoys I once got a raid invite AT 9:00 AM! AT DOWNTOWN! WHICH WAS A 30 MINUTE DRIVE!! (and sometimes people didn't even show up at all which was a waste of time!) Also I remember after the Chikorita and Dratini Community Day Events they accidentally released Keckleon, and Meltan. Also lastly no mention of how Breakthrough Research Boxes use to give us Legendaries? I remember getting a Shiny Groudon from it once! (My only Shiny Legendary from those boxes!)
A cool thing that I remember was when they made the pokemon on radar look like their old 8 bit forms. It wasn’t for long, but it was cool to see the original 8 bit look for each pokemon
#12 is wrong, it's still in the game, your buddy will bring you up to 5 gifts when you have room for them (under 5 in inventory ) at least once per day.
12:22 yeah no, this feature wasn't taken out. It dropped from every 6 hours to every 8 hours your buddy will bring those gifts if you're under 5 gifts, but it is very much still a feature today. Like stated, just have less than 5 gifts in your inventory, and your buddy will bring some. Once tapped on there is a cooldown of 8 hours before it'll bring more.
0:30 Let's be honest - they always tried to escape actually humane ways of describing anything. This specifically was pushed out by constant complaining from the players. But they still decided to reuse this nonsensical nomenclature for the loot boxes (which I feel like we should once again sue them over in EU, cause the egg icons do not disclose the real rates for the lootbox, which is required thing here).
Great video. I wish people would watch the Hoopa film so they d understand why the raids used to bring legendary spawns after completion. Legendary Pokemon used to spawn after the elite raid only because that is Hoopa’s ability (it summons them through the hoops) and the other elite raid bosses had different ways to differentiate. If we are to get Hoopa again in the elite raids then it is very likely we will get the spawns again. 😉
One of my fondest memories from early PoGo was an EX Raid during the first or second year. I lived in a smaller village surrounded by multiple larger towns, but we had a nice park with a one mile loop with lots of stops. The park shared parking with the library/town hall/police/fire house (again, small town). The first EX raid was for a small plaque in front of the police station at probably 7pm. I was home for the summer from college. I remember going thinking “I hope there are enough people there.” When I arrived, it looked like everyone in the village was there. A lot of players were from nearby towns who loved to play in our park as well as probably every player in town. We were splitting off by teams (Instinct, Mystic, etc) and then making sure that there were enough players to beat Mewtwo. It was insane. Later that week, my mom was taking about how the staff at the building were so confused and a little scared with the number of people there. It was town gossip by then. When she asked if I could believe how many people came out for a game, I was like “mom I was there. OFC I know what happened.”
The tasks were hated either way, because they counted into the 50 coin limit. Which probably would be good with old gym system, cause you literally couldn't get coins from there with all the bots and hardcore a-holes. But modern system is just so much damn better, it's not as stressful or painful. The only issue is the limit of coins we can get daily.
17:34 I think having global trading be similar to Wonder Trade found in the mainstream games would be a great idea, even if its usage is capped at a certain number.
be cool if they invented another version of matteo that we could trade a local regional pokemon to and get another from another country back, eg me being in new zealand could drop a relicanth off and get say a hawlucha or something else, or a flabebe trade where I could potentially get a yellow or red in exchange for blue ones
To be fair at that point they could just link us to GTS. But I think that would totally break their monetisation model and make their Safari Zone revenue non-existent. I think they just need to release more global Pokémon around. The only way I see global trades being possible is if it were Lucky Trades of Pokémon that both trainers already caught / have in Pokedex.
Honestly I miss the old gym system. It was ACTUALLY a challenge, and let you flex your CP. It absolutely DISGUSTS me that you put a pokemon in and it's cp gradually goes down...LITERALLY WHY?!?! THERE'S NO POINT!?! You can take down a gym at like level 25 which takes less than a day to get to.
Yeah, I remember that time vividly, no thank you - with how bad Niantic was about catching cheaters, you literally could not get any gyms after your area got raided by the people who made accounts for profit. Both fly and bot behaviour was obnoxious and then you also had to compete with other hundreds of angry people, who also couldn't get enough coins. It was just not fun.
To be fair it was back in raids (which actually have relatively high shiny rates for the shadows) and it had ability to evolve to Galarian Weezing for that whole week or two. It did unfortunately compete for attention with Shiny Zacian though.
I think the most devestating thing to me was taking out being able to take pictures of pokemon with your friends. Genuinely I mostly played pokemon go to take pictures of pokemon
Deletion of ex raids was the issue which hurt me the most... In this film I miss 1 thing - initial form of pvp. You had to tap the screen as fast as possible to make your charge attack as strong as possible. Today there are stripes to draw.
playing Pokémon go in 2016 was honestly so fun and when people was actually playing, I could be taking a walk and meet other trainers with my parents. Everyone was so chill it was refreshing
I remember when ex raids gave you the option for +1s. I received one and 3d printed a pokemon go gift box. On the inside printed a raid pass with the address, date, time on it. I was going to invite one of my friends but waited until abunch of the friend group were together. During the middle of the outing I got done one one knee and asked if he would be my plus 1. Some of the group was I'm shock, most of the group was confused. Like 3 of the group were laughing historically and he was just super angry and embarrassed 😂 but he said yes so I sent him the in game invite
12:39 IIRC this feature isn't totally removed, as I remember my Buddy Pokemon bringing me gifts from nearby Pokestops on at least one occasion I think during this year. Maybe the frequency of this happening was reduced substantially or something, but I don't think the feature is entirely gone.
love how community day is more like community hours. they really need to consider people that actually have to work on weekends and miss out. so the community day should run for a full 24hrs so that people like myself that have to work from 6am till 6pm on weekends can actually enjoy it. this is one of the reasons why i have stopped playing as much because i miss out on community days since they only run for a few hours.
One thing I really liked that wasn’t so much a feature as just something special for the event, Diwali I think, was Morelul would glow while appearing in the over world. It was really neat.
2 things missing from this list; when the game was first released, there was a map toward the bottom of the info screen for the Pokémon you caught showing the area that you caught the Pokémon. Also, when Shadow Pokémon first came out, you were able to trade them for a short period of time.
what about the feature, that showed the exact location the pokemon was caught and showed on a little map. and all the memes about cheaters getting caught by where their pokemon was caught lol
It's still technically present in the bottom of the Pokémon data. No map, but they actually added additional info like the method or even, if you caught something during Party with specific players (who are named).
I miss the footstep feature, gave the game a sense of adventure and you had to explore to find the pokemon you wanted to catch from the nearby pokemon. I took a year break from the game when they changed it cos there weren't many features in the game back then and that feeling of adventure waned for me.
nah F that - they directly removed it, because it was totally crap and people spammed them to change it, the amount of wasted time for useless Pokémon that still despawned was horrendous
The gifts for #12 didn’t get taken out, if you have less than 5 gifts left then your buddy Pokémon will give you some gifts to up it to 5, but only once per day. It still does that.
@@Lylizabeththey had recasted people many times already, so that's not an issue. Especially Oak has been recasted many times, when you consider all the dubs.
@@mjm3091also, the English voice actors are not something that they think about in Japan. The original language that is spoken in Pokémon has always been Japanese, so if any voice actor dying was in any way a factor in a decision to retire a character from the anime, then it'd be the Japanese one.
Thanks for this video! I played briefly upon the game's release in 2016, and returned to become a daily player in April 2021. I have no idea what occurred between late 2016 and early 2021, so this is cool to learn about that half a decade.
the old gym system was hilariously unbalanced. a single attacking trainer could only be cancelled out by two defending trainers, two attackers required 3 defenders, and it just kept going up from there. it wasn't uncommon to see gyms (mostly valor, go figure) doing stacks of Blissey and/or Snorlax to effectively stall a trainer indefinitely, especially for lower level players. there was also the problem of newer pokemon being the first ones fought, so if you placed your pokemon in the 10th slot, you were the first pokemon on the chopping block. there was a LOT of fighting over placing the first pokemon in a gym deep into team territory, because the first pokemon on a 10-stack gym was a guaranteed long-term coin payout. the new system is infinitely better and allows for players on their own to actually do something, whereass you needed to be a top player in your community to even have a chance before.
As someone who was able to use the coin research feature back then, I'm pretty sure they saw a sudden drop in coin sales in the regions with it, resulting in the scrapping of the idea. I mean, I basically speed runned my way to a max bag and bigger Pokebox back then. Even if there is way more space possible now
I know of another removal: You used to get a reward for these two things: Catching a Pokémon 7 days in a row. Spinning a PokeStop 7 days in a row. Yes, you could actually get rewards for doing those things. And you didn’t have to do both of them to get a reward. Both of those things had their own individual reward pools. These days, there is no incentive to chaining those things.
I remember my first ex raid. I didn't want to admit to my parents because I wanted to participate in an ex raid that I was invited to (I didn't think they'd understand, and despite being an adult at the time, I still was staying at home while in university and cared about what they thought) but luckily, they were going for dinner with friends conveniently at the time, and it was close to my house, so I could go to the raid and get back before they got back.
Yes they moved the time around AND they used to post the time in not “your time zone” so there were several CD that I missed due to not figuring out the time correctly 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I miss the covid time 11-5 :( 6 hours were just fine and a chill time. Not beeing forced to play at a specific time frame. I hated the 3 hour limit before and after covid
They are 14:00-22:00. Just do the damn raids, they aren't even hard to solo anymore. This is the best time-slot we ever had. With 8 hours of actual event.
The foot print tracking mechanic was so much more fun. The current tracking system is kind of boring just walk to the stop, compared to the exploring a bit to find the pokemon
I think they'll bring Black Kyurem and White Kyurem back for GO Tour Unova; it'll be the same fusion mechanic like Necrozma, but using Kyurem, Reshiram, and Zekrom
seeing a lot of these makes me realize just how… unnecessarily restrictive Niantic is being recently… limited Coins from gyms, limited raid passes outside of events yet somehow the Max Energy being capped at 1000, with a limit on how much you can collect per day, is just a kick in the face for any player that wants to play the game…
I don't have any friends that play, so 4 and 5 star raids are crazy difficult if not impossible for a solo player. They have to address this, I've missed out on so many Pokémon because I can't get the raid Pokémon
For the Wolf legendary for the Galar Tour. I think their Crowned form would used to Boosted Attacks and Defences in regular, mega, Dynamax and Legendary Raids maybe!?
They don't boost stats (of all Pokémon) in actual games. They just will be stronger and their signature move(s) may have some extra bonus for the Pokémon itself. Like they totally should allow them in Dynamax Battles with Behemoth Blade still causing double the damage.
I dont remember there being a limit on how many coins you could have earned in gyms per day before the current system. My mons would give 50 coins each day they remain in the gym, and I dont remember it capping at 100coins
Also in the gbl you used to be able to encounter legendaries at any rank, i remember getting darkrai and giratina while at a very low rank from gbl rewards
There was 1 more feature tested but never implemented. You can spin pokestop to get research task even if your bag is full. It was there for a month or two in some countries like Australia but then it was removed.
The absolute worst part of the game is the whole research rewards. I don't even know why I continue to do them, you spend X amount of days to catch tons of Pokemon and whatnot... and your reward is something very simple, like a Wooloo. Like come on.
Research Breakthrough Legendries being removed was the time i stopped caring about the game due to little to no gyms in my area, remote raids helped but them being f'ed after covid i just stopped playing.
*The footprint system NEEDED to go. It was horrible and confusing (especially since pokemon only stuck around for 10-15 minutes, so if you walked in the wrong direction, you could miss it entirely before you even realised you weren't getting closer). *The gym system is another welcomed update. If you lived within range on a gym, you could sit there and just constantly kick people out and claim the gym fully for yourself, meaning they got nothing and you could be constantly on the gym for coins. At least now, you have to stay on the gym for X amount of hours to get any coins. *The loss of Jessie and James is a pain... but silver lining, it means they could shake things up in future events by having other, non-anime specific, teams make appearances. Maybe in a future gen 3 event we'll have Team Aqua and Magma grunts show up, or for gen 4 events have Team Galactic, etc. I'm honestly surprised they HAVEN'T done this so far, and have always stuck with Team Rocket. I know it's probably a lot more work to impliment new characters and code and such, but surely they could just re-skin the existing grunt and leader code to use different assets, etc. *Going back to the 3-hour Community Days was another good change IMO. Walking around a park for 3 hours non-stop is harsh enough, but 6 hours was pretty brutal (for someone as unfit as I am lol). I often found myself leaving around the 5 hour mark... and if you hadn't caught at least 2-3 shinies within that entire time, then you were extremely unlucky, but with the amount that WERE appearing, it just felt kind of pointless to catch so many and to continue on after the 5 hour mark. *I've noted over the years that when Niantic do region-based testing of a feature, it does tend to disappear for a long while before they re-impliment the feature... so it's possible the daily task list for coins may come back in some form in the future.
I feel like the another big Alola Tour could shake stuff up for the Rockets, by adding a full on Rainbow Rocket storyline, which would be perfect to including all the other leaders and grunts.
I got my 4 star groudon and kyorgre from the research breakthrough back when they did legendaries. I found that they gave them low cp, but on the other end, their stats could be very good.

Previous CDs and events were literally worse for you.
It's Community Day, because it literally lasts 6 hours and travels around the world, having one full day where whole Community plays.
I hate that Niantic post-Covid decided to take away all of the amazing accessibility options for disabled people.
Missed the meowth balloon so much😢
Yeah was dope to see!
As cool as it was, I'm glad Jessie and James are gone. Their models were very ugly, in my opinion.
Imagine how they'd look now though@@DracoLeafson
@@kylebeattie8594 considering the way Niantic operates I doubt Jessie and James will look any different, let alone better.
I got 3 shiny shadow Ekans from them when they were out. I was happy to get them but pissed that I couldn’t get one of the other ones. 2 ok, triplets was annoying.
I am 1000% convinced that 2016 PGo didnt flop as a game because it was associated with the Pokemon brand. It was HORRENDOUS.
No shit lmao
The sky is blue
... I mean....... f***ing duh?
even PokeMMo is a better game on mobile lol
I mean Harry Potter one flopped for a reason.
Conclusion: Niantic hate you having fun
I still have a 15/14/13 shiny Zapdos that I got from a research breakthrough on 2/21/19 that no longer shows that it was caught via research breakthrough.

Nowadays Niantic’s goal is to frustrate as many people as possible. Whatever is still working guaranteed Niantic will find a way to mess it up. Most recent is the 5 Star raid.
What happend with 5 star raids?
@@beranciak867I’m just as confused as you.
@@beranciak867 they are kinda shit, not to mention all the "local-only" Shadow Legendary raids and now also Dynamax fights.
My buddy still brings me presents everyday.
@@pogotrnr Mine still does about 5 each day.
my buddy also gives me gifts that i could normally only get from spinning gyms or pokestops
Yup, my buddy gave me 5 gifts from nearby stops just today. They still do that.
Yup. Everyday. Usually don't see the notifications, but it is obvious when it happens because I have gifts from stops near me that I had not spun.
Everytime anyone asks niantic to fix anything they just remove the feature then bring it back worse…
If you have less than 5 gifts you will get enough gifts to get it back to five
Less than 5 gets you up to 5
It works more than once a day.
@Ericairline unless your hacking your buddy can only bring you 5 gifts per day
The black kyurem and white kyurem could come back during the Pokémon GO Unova tour, but it will take some time because you have to create fusion energy for them same thing with the last event that we had and instead of catching the fused Pokémon from defeating those fusion raids you’ll get the previously fused Pokémon like Pokémon that was previously fused with it like necrozma so we have to wait a little longer for them to come back as fusion Pokémon
But it makes sense!
I had a pokomon in a gym for 3 months but because another pokomon was returned that same day I got nothing extra! 🙄
I love Pokömon
Jessie and James appearing with the Meowth balloon was an event. They were a special event, not really removed, per se. Just only available for a limited time.
I got my first ever legendary from a breakthrough box (December 2019, Moltres) sad
The good days
Same! Mine was Entei
A shiny latias
I think mine was the same honestly
Got my first shiny legendary from it, Lugia. Not only was that my first shiny legendary in Pokémon Go, but also the first in any game.
(REALLY regrets evolving that Shiny Shadow Koffing now!) 💀
Also I absolutely HATED those EX raid passes. For Dexoys I once got a raid invite AT 9:00 AM! AT DOWNTOWN! WHICH WAS A 30 MINUTE DRIVE!! (and sometimes people didn't even show up at all which was a waste of time!)
Also I remember after the Chikorita and Dratini Community Day Events they accidentally released Keckleon, and Meltan.
That was an April fools day. That was cool my game ran smooth that day :)
I’m still mad about the price increase of remote raid passes. Just made life for rurals/disabled players have a much harder time playing raids.
They also have not had the 40km longer distance trades since pandemic. That was helpful.
I miss that too.
People who used XL-Candys or Rainbow XL-Candy didnt get a refund of them, which is typical shit for Niantic
EX were so fun. It rewarded you to battle raids at certain gyms. Then a special invitation, which then you could invite one other.
I miss the footprints, in areas without pokestops it was really fun to try and find it... lazy of them to never add it back
Yeah I enjoyed it too!
Now its just "its somwhere" thats not helpful at all!
@@jonaykon Exactly. "There's a snorlax somewhere" oh cool! Where? "Idk it exists tho"
@@valentinesapphire805 Now it only highlights ones by Pokestops. I wish I could select certain species to appear over others as well.
I remember going thinking “I hope there are enough people there.”
When I arrived, it looked like everyone in the village was there.
Didn't the take the 20 coins from tasks and revamp it into the season pass they now sell?
The tasks were hated either way, because they counted into the 50 coin limit. Which probably would be good with old gym system, cause you literally couldn't get coins from there with all the bots and hardcore a-holes. But modern system is just so much damn better, it's not as stressful or painful. The only issue is the limit of coins we can get daily.
17:34 I think having global trading be similar to Wonder Trade found in the mainstream games would be a great idea, even if its usage is capped at a certain number.
Alternatively, I think they could add the global trades between long distance friends with a cap like 5 trades per day.
Wonder trade would be great! And it would be fun if you could global trade with lucky friends at least
@@pogotrnr I think if it was only possible at a certain friendship level, it should be Ultra or at least Best/Lucky.
be cool if they invented another version of matteo that we could trade a local regional pokemon to and get another from another country back, eg me being in new zealand could drop a relicanth off and get say a hawlucha or something else, or a flabebe trade where I could potentially get a yellow or red in exchange for blue ones
I still remember getting a shadow shiny Koffing from one of those Meowth balloons. I regret ever purifying it.
To be fair it was back in raids (which actually have relatively high shiny rates for the shadows) and it had ability to evolve to Galarian Weezing for that whole week or two. It did unfortunately compete for attention with Shiny Zacian though.
Oml I got two and purified both. Bad move in hindsight lol
Footsteps can still occur if you are far away from pokestops. Got it like 2 weeks ago when hiking in forest with 0 stops nearby
I think the most devestating thing to me was taking out being able to take pictures of pokemon with your friends. Genuinely I mostly played pokemon go to take pictures of pokemon
Almost everyone has forgotten the time when your Buddy gave you about 50 pokeballs every hour
That was very nice for Community days
It still kinda does, especially during big events like Go Fest.
My first research breakthrough encounter was a shiny moltres I truly miss it
12:39 IIRC this feature isn't totally removed, as I remember my Buddy Pokemon bringing me gifts from nearby Pokestops on at least one occasion I think during this year. Maybe the frequency of this happening was reduced substantially or something, but I don't think the feature is entirely gone.
Yeah you could be right!
@@pogotrnr Can confirm. Mine just gave me gifts! Think it only actions if you feed them and are low in the amount of gifts you have left to send.
gifts from buddies are most definitely still a thing, but you have to feed your buddy
no need to feed but you need to be low or out of gifts
love how community day is more like community hours. they really need to consider people that actually have to work on weekends and miss out. so the community day should run for a full 24hrs so that people like myself that have to work from 6am till 6pm on weekends can actually enjoy it. this is one of the reasons why i have stopped playing as much because i miss out on community days since they only run for a few hours.
I dont miss the original gym system at all. Battling 10 blisseys was a nightmare
One thing I really liked that wasn’t so much a feature as just something special for the event, Diwali I think, was Morelul would glow while appearing in the over world. It was really neat.
yeah and a lot of fire Pokémon too :D
5:38 they can still be encountered replacing professor willow in a special research(I forgot the name) where you get shiny celebi
The research is called, distracted by something shiny
Fun fact for #2: It still says you can collect 50 Pokécoins daily through the Shop area even though you can't
Yeah I enjoyed it for short amount of time it was available
nah F that - they directly removed it, because it was totally crap and people spammed them to change it, the amount of wasted time for useless Pokémon that still despawned was horrendous
The gifts for #12 didn’t get taken out, if you have less than 5 gifts left then your buddy Pokémon will give you some gifts to up it to 5, but only once per day. It still does that.
If you ask me , I think Niantic needs to be REMOVED from Pokémon go , it’s time another development team take over
This!
Reality: Jessie and James got fired from Team Go Rocket (my guess anyway)
Seems more likely as there’s no ash in Pokémon GO 😅
Jessie might not be coming back as her voice actor very sadly died a month ago
@@Lylizabeththey had recasted people many times already, so that's not an issue. Especially Oak has been recasted many times, when you consider all the dubs.
@@mjm3091also, the English voice actors are not something that they think about in Japan. The original language that is spoken in Pokémon has always been Japanese, so if any voice actor dying was in any way a factor in a decision to retire a character from the anime, then it'd be the Japanese one.
As someone who played in 2016 then came back in 2024 what a decline...
Thanks for this video! I played briefly upon the game's release in 2016, and returned to become a daily player in April 2021. I have no idea what occurred between late 2016 and early 2021, so this is cool to learn about that half a decade.
buddy's still collect gifts, they never removed it. Or if they did they have recently brought it back
My buddy got me 3 gifts yesterday
the old gym system was hilariously unbalanced. a single attacking trainer could only be cancelled out by two defending trainers, two attackers required 3 defenders, and it just kept going up from there. it wasn't uncommon to see gyms (mostly valor, go figure) doing stacks of Blissey and/or Snorlax to effectively stall a trainer indefinitely, especially for lower level players. there was also the problem of newer pokemon being the first ones fought, so if you placed your pokemon in the 10th slot, you were the first pokemon on the chopping block. there was a LOT of fighting over placing the first pokemon in a gym deep into team territory, because the first pokemon on a 10-stack gym was a guaranteed long-term coin payout.
the new system is infinitely better and allows for players on their own to actually do something, whereass you needed to be a top player in your community to even have a chance before.
As someone who was able to use the coin research feature back then, I'm pretty sure they saw a sudden drop in coin sales in the regions with it, resulting in the scrapping of the idea. I mean, I basically speed runned my way to a max bag and bigger Pokebox back then. Even if there is way more space possible now
I know of another removal:
You used to get a reward for these two things:
Catching a Pokémon 7 days in a row.
Spinning a PokeStop 7 days in a row.
Yes, you could actually get rewards for doing those things. And you didn’t have to do both of them to get a reward. Both of those things had their own individual reward pools.
These days, there is no incentive to chaining those things.
that's still here...
Back in 2017 you could get Legendaries in the weekly Field Research encounter
I remember my first ex raid. I didn't want to admit to my parents because I wanted to participate in an ex raid that I was invited to (I didn't think they'd understand, and despite being an adult at the time, I still was staying at home while in university and cared about what they thought) but luckily, they were going for dinner with friends conveniently at the time, and it was close to my house, so I could go to the raid and get back before they got back.
Community days were 10-1 or 11-2 at one point and not 2-5
Yes they moved the time around AND they used to post the time in not “your time zone” so there were several CD that I missed due to not figuring out the time correctly 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Are you sure they removed the Buddy gift feature? I'm almost certain I still get that benefit when I run low on gifts
I think they just reduced the frequency at which they give them to you
I think they'll bring Black Kyurem and White Kyurem back for GO Tour Unova; it'll be the same fusion mechanic like Necrozma, but using Kyurem, Reshiram, and Zekrom
The footprint was one of the best thing ever, it make it like you are in a real pokemon world but go is not for fan but casual player lol
seeing a lot of these makes me realize just how… unnecessarily restrictive Niantic is being recently…
limited Coins from gyms, limited raid passes outside of events
yet somehow the Max Energy being capped at 1000, with a limit on how much you can collect per day, is just a kick in the face for any player that wants to play the game…
Footsteps aren’t completely gone. If your in an area with no Pokéstops for long enough sometimes you see the footprint appears again.
My pokemon brings me gifts when I'm low on them, so was it really removed?
Gym sniping pissed me off. You beat the gym and then someone comes in from that team you beat and puts a new Pokémon in quickly.
Please bring EX raids back. It was fascinating to see a raid invite every monday morning when you open your game.
isn't #21 in game via a research pass in game right now?
#12 is not removed. once or twice a day you will get 5 gifts if you have 0. 4 if 1 3 if 2 etc... until 5
Tbh the e step system felt the most like hunting a pokemon and made it feel more real than simply walking to a stop
The lack of legendary encounters in GBL is trash. The only plus side is that GBL now rewards a lot more rare candy than it used to.
In my area the footsteps feature never worked properly, it was a relief when it got changed over
I dont remember there being a limit on how many coins you could have earned in gyms per day before the current system. My mons would give 50 coins each day they remain in the gym, and I dont remember it capping at 100coins
Jesse and James appeared for me like last week. I didn’t know they weren’t around anymore since I had just started playing again after a long time.
Nothing made me want to stop playing the game like the avatar changes 😢
you can literally play as your old avatar, the original body types and faces are still there
The absolute worst part of the game is the whole research rewards. I don't even know why I continue to do them, you spend X amount of days to catch tons of Pokemon and whatnot... and your reward is something very simple, like a Wooloo. Like come on.
I also hate that legendary pokemon were removed from raids and now it's just a boring round robin of common Pokemon but what can you do?
Research Breakthrough Legendries being removed was the time i stopped caring about the game due to little to no gyms in my area, remote raids helped but them being f'ed after covid i just stopped playing.
The footsteps will still appear if you’re in an isolated area with zero Pokéstops
The old layout of gyms was really cool, wish they brought it back
Here’s some more:
Gastly’s incorrect shiny palette
Accidental Shellos release with incorrect move
Primeape with Weather Ball
Remember when people could drive and catch pokémon. So many car accidents and then they changed it so you get a warning and pokémon flee
I got my 4 star groudon and kyorgre from the research breakthrough back when they did legendaries. I found that they gave them low cp, but on the other end, their stats could be very good.
