  • A chimp commits a murder... or so it looks like it.
Monk is streaming now on Peacock: pck.tv/3JuixBg
From "Mr. Monk And The Panic Room" (Season 3, Episode 2): It's the middle of the night at the estate of eccentric record producer Ian Blackburn. Blackburn is in his home studio, working on some songs for his pop superstar wife, Chloe (Carmen Electra). An alarm goes off, and Blackburn grabs his pet chimpanzee, Darwin, and runs to his fortified panic room where, moments later, police arrive on the scene and blast their way in. They enter to discover an incredibly bizarre tableau: Blackburn shot dead with Darwin the chimp standing over him, covered in blood and holding a revolver. Stottlemeyer and Disher reluctantly hold Darwin as the prime suspect, but they quickly enlist the help of Monk to determine the guilt or innocence of this most unlikely simian suspect.

Monk Synopsis: Adrian Monk (Emmy®-winner Tony Shalhoub) was once a rising star with the San Francisco Police Department, legendary for using unconventional means to solve the department's most baffling cases. But after the tragic and still-unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, the devastated Monk becomes obsessive-compulsive. His psychological disorder has caused him to develop an abnormal fear of virtually everything: germs, heights, crowds... even milk. Monk's condition costs him his job, but he's back as a police consultant despite the unique challenges he encounters in his everyday life. These challenges lead Monk to hire a personal nurse, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram), who is always there to offer her assistance, even with the simplest of tasks (like organizing his sock drawer). Her less-than-subtle prodding keeps the "defective detective" on track in his investigations, as well as in his efforts to convince Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) to allow him to return to the force.

This is the episode that everyone remembers the most. And how can we possibly forget? The man with the worse case of OCD dealing with a chimp? Comedy gold.

This scolding seems out of character for Sharona. I think she would be proud of her son for standing up for another kid.
But I guess it's setting things up for her standing up for the ape later.

I don’t think there’s any scientific evidence that a wound will heal faster if the bandage is on straighter.🤣 I do feel bad for Benjy on having that bandage ripped off so many times.😅

I hate that Monk keeps referring to a chimpanzee as a monkey. It’s an ape, not a monkey. You’d think he’d know better.
Also chimps are very dangerous, even at that age.

And yeah chimps are incredibly aggressive but people are dumb and want to take care of them because they are cute. It's the same with monkeys. They can be cute too but every primatologist ever says they are absolutely not pets

At the end she apologizes to her son because the chimp case made her understand that sometimes we have to disrespect the rules in order to stand up for someone / something in need. Also maybe you're overthinking this, a mother getting angry at her son for fighting at school is very understandable and even expected. Her epiphany and apology are the unexpected part.

@@alexandermathieson4774 calm down sir, I never said I agreed with Sharona, I just meant that mothers are often 'irrational' on their first reaction when it comes to their children 'misbehaving' or getting punished at school. And as I said, she changed her mind during the episode, which was kind of the point of the whole plot. And I really don't get your point with the 'hope you never need help' part. Again, just calm down.

@@MaiaraBelaShe didn't have to act harshly with Benji when he was explaining why he was fighting. Sharona could've gently told him that while it was good of him to stand up for someone, he shouldn't have resorted to violence. And follow that up by treating him to ice-cream! 😅
