Hi, I recently moved to Águilas in Murcia, I've been coming here for 6 years now and finally took the plunge!! There is an amazing carnival that happens here every February, and lasts for 2 weeks. On the main days, there are street parades (carozzas) and everyone in the town including babies dress on costumes. People spent the whole year preparing the costumes and dances. My brother in law sometimes takes part in the event and he makes his own costumes every year. Hope to see you here someday!!!
Absolutely spectacular. Ive been watching it over and over again all day. So beautiful curated. Our true spirit and energy captured by James. Lots of respect and love Lendl 🇦🇪
They should have placed you as a judge for sure. So much fun and very exciting, just love the celebration of food. Thank you James, can't wait to see part 2, see you then.
You can't imagine my exuberance when I saw chef Gabriel from Panama!! Since that's my country of birth, I was elated to see that my country was being represented. Something that I noticed immediately, is that the actual serving dishes resemble and represent the traditional folk hats that are worn by men, which is an integral part of the traditional costume of Panama for men (not what people consider a "Panama hat", which actually originated in Ecuador). Thank you, James for recording that part of the video. It meant a lot to me. I am one happy Spaniard-Panamanian!!! I was clapping during the awards part, as if I was there. The chef from UAE seemed so chill before the competition, so it touched my heart to see him break down and get so emotional when he won. He did have a unique "cigar" tapa. One last observation: You really seemed happy to be there James. This environment really resonated with you, and it showed in the entire video.
I had no idea this event even existed in Spain. It looks like it was such a fun time experiencing it! Another great video that makes us miss living in Spain! Can't wait for the next!
Love that the Aussie - Kiwi rivalry extends to tapas dishes. Glad we both got an award from the competition as well. They looked pretty fancy but as long as they taste good.
Oye James, you belong here. Its great to see the progression of you videos, starting from my favorite down home neighborhood Tapas bars en Madrid to an international competition! Keep it up parce!
That was an amazing video James. I never new such a competition even existed. Do you know if there is a calender for cooking and foodie competitions in Spain? Looking forward to the continuing episodes. 😀👍
I've watched your and Yoli's videos for a long time, and this is my favorite for some reason... It was like watching your typical witty video and a sporting event at the same time! Great job!
You really have a knack for the presenting. Best video in a while. And all of then are great! Are you still doing membership videos for those of us that pay monthly since covid? X
In early May 2013 after a few days on our camino frances we ran right into a tapas contest among the bars in Pamplona (allegedly all over Navarra). Man was that delicious!
How wonderful! this vid ROCKS James! always love your vids, but this one won!! Production👍! Bravo! (omg the chef's description of the sijara baba ganoush pastries, next year I am there!) ok omg I just watched the rest of the VID and HE WON!!! woot woot... and honourary mention to CANADA (just cause)!
Thank you for this! I never knew about this competition. Actually, I am trying to remember, but I think we have never been to Valladolid. We´ve been all over Spain, but not there! So this video really brought a lot of bang for our buck.
Hello good sir, I just stumbled across your channel while looking for experiences about moving to Spain, and am so stoked to have discovered you! I love your candor, enthusiasm, kindness, and how you keep it real. Also as someone who is super passionate about food, I think this video couldn't be a better gateway into your channel. Any easy subscribe for sure 🍴🇪🇸
Love your videos You have a talent for this type of interviewing and presenting food. Keep going and pick up where Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmern left off.
Hi I am coming to Barcelona on the 8th of Dec. I wish I could hire you and or meet you! Thanks for introducing me to what I need to know while visiting! I’m 64 Female and with myself!!!! THANKYOU I feel confident! Hi to YALA!

Having lived in Spain for 18 years now I enjoy my tapas. For me though this competition isn’t true tapas….it’s too “cheffy” and pretentious….and would cost a fortune to buy. It’s just not what true tapas is about.
No es culpa tuya, pero me parece que roza o supera lo CUTRE: chefs con banderitas, público haciendo la ola... Parece una suerte de Eurovisión con peculiares comidas... de cuestionable gusto. Salud!
I loved making this video! 🔥Any other cool events I should cover in Spain? Let me know! 💃🏽
The thousands of sheep in Madrid!
It showed. Beautifully done. Looking forward to more.
La Feria del tomate del Perelló, in June. And Mostra Proava de Vins i Aliments de la Comunitat Valenciana in April.
Can you do something in Bilbao?

How does one enter or become a part of this competition?
Very different James. You were very natural. Was that handler Pastry James?
Yes!! 💪💪

Fantastic video and event. Who knew there was a Tapas Olympics. 😂 ole
Hola, James and Yoli...y Lucia.
Awesome
That was a nail biter!!!!
haha I was very nervous!
wheres Yoli!?
curioso un concurso internacional de tapas sin apenas españoles... el mundo aún no está preparado.
Otra sección del concurso es la parte nacional con 45 chefs españoles.
That didn't look like Madrid. Where are you?
That's Valladolid, a province north of Madrid and Segovia, known for its excellent wines.
I'm sure they all taste the nuts but James, like you, I prefer the rustic route #basic #flavour
Hello, can you please advise some offcial website where I can purchase las ventas bullfighting tickets online?
Sevilla

I hear you! For me tapas can be many things. In the next video you'll see you can order most of these tapas for €2.50, drink included.
Tapas with an Asian flair...
“Spain has the best produce in the world”. Mate you need to go to my local Tesco these days… No match
