Cholesterol will go down for a year or more after 2 weeks without alcohol, potatoes, rice pasta and bread (carbs). If you add no meat, even better. Fish, sea food onions, fruits, artichokes, salads etc are not a great sacrifice to eat.

Great videos. As a man of a certain age and health problems I have a small Bucket List. One of the things I’ve always wanted to see is the painting Guernica. Any tips of where to stay in Madrid that’s close to the museum, four or five star. I’ll be flying in from the UK and want to stay for four or five days. I love Spain. Still so underrated culturally by so many who just head for the beaches.

The expulsion of the _Moriscos_ (not exactly Moors btw) in Spain has more to do with the fact that they constantly revolted in the region of the Alpujarras, where they lived, and were in collusion with the Sultan of Turkey at a time when the danger of invasion was real and imminent. Nothing to do with Cisneros. By the way, the man died in 1517 and the expulsion took place in 1609.

I think this video proves again what I have always thought Spanish food is expensive! I mean 9,50€ for a plate of mushrooms with some garlic sauce which is not even a main course and doesn't take long to prepare. Compare this to e.g. if you go to an Indian or Chinese restuarant and get main course of Vegetable curry or vegetable chinese dish which has lot more cooking involved not to mention ingredients and you will pay the same amount of money. True even with Italian get a main course of pasta with a lot more ingredients and cooking involved and it will cost you around the same!

9.50 is actually not too bad for a starter ) if you happen to order a house salad (which normally is just chopped tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce), in most places you will pay 12-15, which is mad. But mains in Spanish restaurants are not more expensive than anywhere else in Europe. So go for mains and leave the starters for Greek, middle eastern and other cuisines.

@@graziano1688 I think you need your head examined if you think 9,50€ is ok for a starter especially one that consists mainly just mushrooms and not much else! Salads here are stupid expensive too. As for mains why do you only get meat or fish and potatoes where are the vegetables? The last time I asked they charged me an extra 9 ro 10€ for a side of vegetables that should have come with the mains anyway, at least it does in other parts of the world!

@@joebloggs4191 most Spanish unfortunately don’t eat raw vegetables except for some occasional tomatoes. When I ask for a side of house greens, they bring your lettuce with eggs, tuna, etc even if you ask them not to do it. They just can’t understand why someone might want to eat greens without any protein :)

@@graziano1688 I am not talking about raw vegetables. I mean cooked vegetables that should come with every main course dish. Vegetables are important for a balanced diet, the main dish what they serve you in spanish restaurants does not give you a balanced diet with just meat and potatoes!

The cost of Spanish food depends on where and when you eat. My wife and I spends part of the winter in Spain and often eat Menu del Dias at lunchtime in ventas / mesons / restaurants and for €10 to €15 each we have 3 course.meal including bread and a drink. Excellent value and very popular judging by the large number of ordinary working Spaniards also eating in these places.
