    THANK YOU SO MUCH! One of my biggest gripes with most content creators that make advice videos for free to play accounts is they don't consider all the events that newer players have missed, what little options we have depending on what banners have run, and how prudent we have to be with our resin and other resources.
    The lack of hp% swords in particular has been one of my biggest pain points as I went for Nilou early on, and haven't built Layla yet for the same reason.
    I am so still waiting for Kokomi, who hasn't run at all since I started. She was one of the characters I loved the most playing through Inazuma, and it breaks my heart every time a new livestream reveals she's not coming up yet :(
    I really hope they make more fishing weapon options. Liyue and Mondstat still don't have any, and I don't think Natlan does yet either.

      For what it's worth; layla's shield is plenty strong even without a HP sword so she's deifnitely worth building, but the lack of f2p HP swords really is atrocious!
      Fishing weapons really are a great solution, I hope they add some to Liyue and Mondstadt!

      @saurusness I've been asking for more fishing weapons every time they put out a suggestion survey 🤣

    Good info! I started playing when my kid was not able to advance and I needed to know how to help her. My start was made easier by the last Latern Right. I made my way to Liyue as soon as I could get there and was able to unlock Yaoyao before the festival ended. My daughter did the same, and we were able to start grouping up to take on bosses and domains. Now we are both starting new accounts because we miss the days when we needed to log in together to beat the content.
    One of the hardest things for me when I was beginning was figuring out how to get local specialties for my non-Monstadt characters. Now I know about the waypoints that open up around Tevyat that can help us open the map areas up earlier.

    • @raptori
      @raptori 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +8

      They've also added a new feature to the map which marks local specialties for you if you select them from the menu!
      I'm always in two minds about that kind of thing - it's so convenient to have that, BUT honestly it was so much fun exploring and trying to find things for the first time, and I do miss that experience...

    It really is wild how different the mid-game can be when you've got well-built characters. Had SO many problems getting through AR35-55 or so on my main, just from spreading investment out across waaaay too many characters...

    • @saurusness
      @saurusness  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      yeah I hobbled myself on my main for a while thanks to that 😅 Nowadays it doens't matter and having *everyone* built is the ultimate long term goal for me, but it sure made things tricky early on haha

    Something I found really frustrating getting back into Genshin after a bit of a break was looking at a lot of guides that would say "F2P Teams" but so many of them would be giving that title on the assumption a player was playing since launch and have a lot of early 4-stars characters at higher constellations. You mentioned Sucrose being a shock for you, but for myself, Fischl was the most frustrating example. I built her up because every guide talks about how great her off field electro application is, but my experience was nothing but frustration with how slow and how much babysitting her electro application requires. It wasn't until well after putting so much investment into her I learned that her greatness requires her being C6, so I haven't even bothered using her since (even now I still only have her at C2).
    I do believe most who gives advice for team and unit building are doing so through good intent, but there's often so much of a contextual disconnect that attempts at help end up leading to frustration. As a result, whenever I try and help other players I do so with the intent of explaining the interaction of mechanics and systems so they don't end up falling into the same disappointment I had. I think Genshin becomes a lot more fun and satisfying when you look at success being a result of problem solving rather than meeting metrics of performance, more so when using characters and team compositions that deviate from a lot of the parroting from the player base at large. In that way, play becomes a result of self expression which is much more valuable and sustaining.

    • @raptori
      @raptori วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Yeah couldn't agree more!
      The thing which *really* gets to me is that this is starting to happen with five stars too! I have Xilonen C0 without her signature weapon, and she's merely decent compared to other similar characters - feels like a mild downgrade compared to Kazuha in terms of strength (so still a top tier support), but who fits in different teams. She's great, and I'm glad I got her ...but all the guides I've seen assume everyone will have her C2 and with her signature weapon, both of which are ridiculously strong, and maybe once you have both she might actually live up to the hype.
      But other characters have ridiculous cons too... so it's super weird to me to see all those guides raving about her specifically!

    • @Aloiv
      @Aloiv วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@raptori Yeah I skipped on Xilonen mostly because people were saying she was a cracked Kazuha which... cool, guess I'll just keep using Kazuha then! 🤪 However, I actually nabbed her signature weapon because I basically saw it as a weapon that I could effectively turn any 1H Sword character into a damage support character. I put it on Jean with some DEF stacked artifacts that brings her up to the weapon's damage buff cap and it's great. Jean's healing is already bonkers absurd even with mediocre ATK, so I've basically been able to turn her into a sort of pseudo-Bennett. No guide is ever going to tell you to do that because it's such a fringe kind of build, but using it in action, it's great and alleviates the "which team gets Bennett" problem for Spiral Abyss.
      I never see it brought up, but Genshin is a game that absolutely rewards lateral thinking when it comes to tackling its mechanics, and while meta focused builds are a reliable means for success, I feel they should be presented more as a reference point of effective synergy rather than something to directly copy. Chances are many players won't have the characters or weapons to recreate them, but there are perfectly acceptable alternatives that can lead to success. That experimentation should be encouraged, and far too often it's superfluously chastised.

      @@Aloiv 100% agree with everything in this thread. I am a f2p and a new one at that. I luckily got some fav sword and currently running a 400EM fav kazuha. Yes it takes away so much potential from him but currently at my account, if I do not do that, my whole team suffers from energy needs.

    • @Axterix13
      @Axterix13 19 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      Fischl is an interesting character for sure, one that I think CCs overrate in general, even with C6. She's very good when she's good... but her power comes from her A4, and that A4 wants lots of electro reactions. Which means there are only a select few types of teams where she's actually good. Taser is generally the easiest. Aggravate is strong, because you have electro DPS triggering lots of aggravates. And then you have overload, which is a situation that typically wants her C6 for electro app if you are using a pyro on-fielder, or Thoma/Xiangling if using an electro one.
      That said, "f2p" when dealing with content creators doesn't mean new players. It's more a case of limited use of five stars. Overall, though, there is just such a wide variance in account capabilities. So many four stars, that you can't guarantee who someone has for the most part. The impact of cons, some of which, even for staples, are very significant, like Xiangling C4. And so on. And on some individual character guides, you'll see some advice like going for the Flower set for Kuki, which is not advisable. It is such a minor gain bloom-wise over Gilded Dreams, while weakening her healing, and having a very niche other set. Gilded is what she should be built with, unless you really want to invest in hyperbloom. The sad reality of artifact farming is that the x.0 domains tend to be good, and the others are generally lackluster due to you only wanting one of the sets much of the time.

    The learning curve is so real oml. I ended up on the guide side of genshin ccs because of their shorts, and even though my builds are nowhere near spectacular, just knowing what to do made life so much easier. I don’t really try the endgame content, so being able to progress through the story’s fights with ease was my main goal, and knowing what to do and how to do it was so helpful you wouldn’t believe

    This is why I stayed at the beautiful AR 35 for A LONG time (god, I miss it) and why I've been at AR 50 since around the middle of Sumeru. If your performance combat wise depends mainly on RNG, ascending as soon as you can as a F2P is a dangerous move (especially if you don't like difficult fights). 😂
    I started playing at late June, 2021. For like 4 or 5 months I only used the OG team 'cause fighting big enemies scared me and I hate co-op, but Inazuma made me very soon feel like it was time for me to start leveling up all my characters to have more options (especially after that fight with Childe) and I'm just NOW getting close to having them all with the sets I want.

    I know I've been super lucky on my EU account - I tried to keep up the NA alt (even though it was technically my first account) but the pain of f2p and the lack of weapons or ease in farming because I'm not paying for the BP to get the extra fragile resin is painful. I can't bring myself to go back to it and it's stuck in the limbo of the painful ar45 area. I feel the pain of missing weapons so much - even on my main I lack sac sword copies and I seem to have overwhelming supplies of widsith and favonius polearms but a sac sword when most of the people I love to use run best with sac swords? Nahhhh what do I need sac swords for 💀Weapons are 100% the downside of f2p. I feel that so, soo much. Thank you for sharing more on how the f2p alt is doing so very cool to see all the progress you made 🥰

      You can just do dailies and events on the new account to build up resources if you don't feel the urge to grind while your gear needs updating. You can also let the account sit for 14 days and get the Stelar Reunion if you would rather not look at the account.
      What I did on my alt account was to be sure to keep rank 5 of each blue weapon while still in Monstadt, and made sure to save the dark iron sword you can get from talking to the restaurant guy in Liyue Harbor.
      My starting weapons were:
      Fav Bow (free)
      Black Tassel
      Dark Iron Sword
      Iron Sting (crafted)
      When I got to Inazuma I started working on the Catch, and then took the free waypoint to Fontaine so I could start working on that pipe sword from fishing.

    There's something so fun replaying early game with all the knowledge you gained throughout the years, having a WAY BETTER notion on how to invest on characters/artifacts. You mentioned a pretty important point on not everyone es a day/year-1 player and many are limited in weapons and resources, F2P specially have to Macgyver with weapons and compositions, which for an older player may be fun but for people starting it can be a hassle specially when comparing themselves to other players and even more to CCs

    Good video, sauressness!
    Don't forget you can use the Artifact Transmuter to build sets like Noblesse!
    That Sucrose story is so real to me. I literally rerolled my account for her in 1.0, only to struggle for constellations and *especially* weapons. I STILL only have an R3 Sac Frag after four years. 😢
    I totally agree on the weapon banner as F2P. My wife and I settled on spending our monthly shop wishes on weapon pulls, with very rare splurges if a character comes home early.

    I am running a second account (same email account, just on the US server), also for about 6 months now, just got the Hyperbloom team with Nahida. It is really helpful to know how to play this game, and I progress much faster in all game modes, too, just knowing that, for example, we can freely utilize Bursts (I was saving them for some unknown reason when starting the game), that we can form synergistic teams (when I was just starting, I thought we needed to play a character and once it dies, there is the second, then the third, ... funny, right?)... I can get all stars in Floor 11 now, but Floor 12 will be a much harder challenge now. It seems we just have to pull Neuvillette...

    • @stribijev
      @stribijev วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Since a lot of people also had the same burst usage doubts as me, I'm trying to come up with an explanation: maybe it was related to our lack of understanding what energy is in the game, how it is replenished, the whole role of "energy recharge" concept. Surely, we all noticed that, but there is another problem very closely related: lack of understanding artifacts and their role, their substat value. I started "farming" artifacts when I was already in Inazuma. I used whatever I got from world bosses before that.

    In the early game, I happened to get super lucky with Xiangling, Bennett, and Sucrose. So, I decided to use them all in the same team with Kaeya until I realized I was doing barely any damage (I also began to not like Xiangling since I never got her burst up). After I finished Inazuma (Signora was a pain because of the elements in my team), I benched my early team and decided to main Cyno who I did an impulse wish on for some reason lol. At first though, my f2p Cyno team consisted of him, Collei, Barbara, and Bennett. It got much easier to clear enemies once I got top tier supports for him like Nahida and Furina. I prioritized my Cyno team and built a second team for abyss. I only started building more characters after my first two teams were decent enough to at least clear 10-3 with most stars.
    I’ve been playing for almost a year and I cleared Floor 12-3 with 32 stars and finished Act 8 of Imaginarium Theatre with 4 stars for the first time recently.

    When I started genshin I had no idea about reactions between elements and it felt like I was "cheating" when I learned I could quick swap characters in and out to foster lots of reactions. My rotations tended to be playing one character until they were wounded/almost dead, then switch. Or to only switch characters if there was an elemental benefit against an enemy. I had no clue what resin was, nor did I have any idea on what to do with it.
    I'm eleven months in now on my completely f2p account, and much more knowledgeable about the game, but the f2p guides I've seen are always more than a bit out of touch in regards to 4 star characters in particular, as they almost all expect you to have them at c6 immediately. The guides about decent c0 5 stars were generally a lot more useful. (I think a guide about c0 4 stars would be amazing, and am half tempted to create a c0 only account and mess around with the characters I'd get there lol.)
    Deyha was my very first 5 star character, and immediately became my favorite in the game. I didn't know about the community's negative views about her at all back then, and now that I do know, she's still my favorite and that will never change lmao. My strongest teams always have her in them.
    In terms of going for supports, I did similar because supports tend to be much more flexible than dps characters, and a lot of the dps characters in genshin don't interest me regardless. Yelan def counts as a support for me, but I also really enjoy her playstyle too. The main supports I'm still missing are Xianyun and Shenhe. I really want Shenhe despite the current state of cryo because she was the reason I stayed with the game and got interested in Genshin's story to begin with.
    I haven't 36 starred yet, but I have gotten 30 stars and fully cleared the abyss, while getting to act 9 in Imaginarium, which I'm happy with. I'm going to continue slowly building my characters over time and eventually they'll get to 36 stars but I'm not rushing into it or worried.

    When Primos and wishes are precious resources you learn to respect the people that actually builds around the "filler" instead of chasing the next big thing. Standard Banner has it's bangers and doesn't require you to spend primos(mostly, also Stardust into Wishes is a nice conversion on the store), game is already generous by letting you pick a 5* for free and giving Xiangling and Collei for free with Abyss so, there is no excuse not to build when the only thing you are really loosing is time, moras and daily resin. Getting a new character you dont have and seeing what you can do with it even at 0 constellations is infinitely more fun than chasing the latest FOMO and spending all your resources to try and build it in full.

    • @raptori
      @raptori 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Yeah she mentions that a few times! The point wasn't "what's the best an F2P account can possibly look like", but "what would an average F2P account look like if it used its resources fairly well" - going all in and completing all the content and min/maxing all your builds would give a skewed perspective on the game. Those accounts can be cool to look at, but they really don't help people who just want to know if they're doing okay or if they're doing something wrong 😁

    • @saurusness
      @saurusness  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      Yeah the point of this account is that it's what I'd consider "casual"!
      There are plenty of ways to make a f2p account "strong" if you have the tenacity to farm artefacts until they are actually *perfect* , and choose to focus on a smaller roster vs building lots of people. One difference there is that the resin a BP user saves by getting wit/mora/books from the BP can then be used to farm more artefacts, so you either can diversify OR invest into those few characters even harder!
      And of course just because someone's f2p foesn't mean they *can't* pull for weapons - just most people either completely don't, or they at most go for some specific weapon for their favourite character!

    • @Axterix13
      @Axterix13 19 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@saurusness As far as pulling for weapons goes, I think the age of the account matters so much. A newer player is going to be much more focused on diversifying their player roster, while an older account likely has most of that stuff in place, so will be more picky when wishing for characters, while also being more focused on improving the characters they have and like already.
