I remember when the anime came out and everyone hated it because of how generic it was... years later and now it's probably one of the best new gen shonen anime we have. Crazy how far this series has come.
They hated that and how Asta’s voice was at the very beginning of the series. Good thing they figured out the backlash and he toned it down a bit, Asta’s VA has actually become one of my favorites as of late.
people dont realise that "generic"series start out that way because its usually the tried and true story starting point to jump off from. once the series has gone through the cadences it can go off on its own direction and shine.
@@serosen3950 that, and originally, tabatas original story of black clover was originally going to be something that was completely original and the authors reason of using other elements from different animes or as other people called it a "carbon copy" but it was because shounen jump originally cancelling his manga due to being "too original" as black clover wasn't the only manga that has suffered through this. Now Ik people prob don't know this, but if you do, then thx for sticking around. In the original bleach manga especially the very old designs of it, apparently it was also getting ignored by shounen jump too, until the author of dragon ball Akira toriyama helped him all the way through this, and ironically enough, he even took some inspiration from him, but bleach doesn't get hate. Naruto kinda does something similar too, and I've noticed that they don't get hate, but when it was with black clover, people starting hating on it, and I guess the ready for that was probably because the "inspiration's" were too obvious.
Facts. It has only gone up in quality over time and is currently my favorite anime. I can understand why some people aren't into it, no series is perfect for everyone. But personally, I love it.
When people point out that Naruto and Asta are very similar, I always point out these things: - Asta straight up doesn't have magic while Naruto just had trouble controlling his chakra - Asta trained(a lot) instead of moping around or acted petty most of the time - Asta was never ostracized by the community surrounding him, only ever those of Royals in the Clover Kingdom - And lastly, Asta's and Yuno's rivalry is way different than Naruto's and Sasuke's.
@@riftmaker4478 Noelle had trouble controlling it because her family decided to be dicks to her without having a good reason and she wasn't able to get help. When she first joins the Black Bulls, she gets a wand to use and later doesn't need that. Naruto had trouble controlling his because he had a lock on him the entire time of his childhood. Completely different reasons. Also I was comparing Naruto and Asta, not other characters. Also Naruto wasn't a prodigy either, in fact, he was still considered a dumbass until the Pain Arc.
Really happy that you gave BC another chance. BC gets so much unnecessary hate when it is actually so amazing. Would also love to hear your thought on the manga with very little spoilers as possible
Like the prodigal's son I've returned to the Black Clover fold lmao 😂 And that's an idea... 🤔 I'm caught up with the manga now and plan to keep up with it so I'm sure i can think something up.
@@redowl2297 i dont agree with 75% of first 60 were horrible objectively horrible. I understand it was slow at the beginning but after the yami vs licht fight it kept getting better. So yeah completely disagree about 75% being objectively horrible lol
@@NH-st2uh Bro, this anime was a huge let-down for me. Not because the second part of the anime ( I m talking about every episode that had the second opening ) were badly written but because I really put my trust in the series since it somehow strongly resonated with me at an emotional level. I really hoped Black Clover would be the story that would heal me and help me to keep going at the very high pace that I was trying to maintain thorough my life, but it let me down.
@@NH-st2uh Leaving aside my emotional attachment to the theme and what I once wished Black clover was, a lot of scenes were put to play in a very boring and monotonous way, the jokes and the gigs helped me swallow the show, but the majority of the action moments were not pleasant to watch, that is until I ve finally seen some continous improvement starting with the Yuno vs the diamond kingdom general. It had good moments like vetto vs asta and Vanessa plus Finral, and bad ones like Gauche versus that girls purple Slime monster, but it was always oscilating between decent and boring, sometimes even getting good. Though, I don t think it was slow but just badly adapted. Copy pasting the manga panels in a Anime format is rarely working well
I think why people talk so much about Noelle(which I'm guilty of as well) is because she's the best written female character in the series. She's basically the second lead of the series. Most of the times, shonen lacks good female characters so Noelle stands out. I do agree about Mimosa, though
The thing is that even though Noelle is on another level, Black Clover doesnt let down his characters, they can seem secondary but they also have high importance on the plot
I like how black clover also has a fishman island, wano kuni, and devils without the fruit. great anime could not wait for the movie or new season so I started reading the manga
I’d be actually interested to hear how much Tabata was influenced by wano, checked it yesterday and BC had begun before the start of wano arc, I’m pretty sure Tabata had direction to Yami’s backstory pretty early in the story so he might’ve known from the beginning that Asta’s going to Japan, but how much of it was changed by wano?
I did jump on the BC Hype train late, mostly because I didn’t know about it. I was first exposed to it through Asta and company vs Vetto. I was interested enough to watch, ended up binging, and was watching weekly to the end. Asta has become one of my all-time favorite characters, not because of his power or looks, although those are cool, but because of his character. The moment he placed high for me was his talk with Meroeleona after phase 1 with the copy elf. He isn’t the smartest, that goes without saying, but he knows that in the end, violence isn’t the answer they need to end that conflict.
insightful take and I agree with to 100% the whole Vetto encounter was where a lot of the themes started coming together for me and I'm glad I decided to give it another chance. definitely one of my all time favorites now.
@@RecoveringElitist I think it's also worth mentioning that most, if not all, of the BC Openings themes are quite good. I listen to most of them quite often.
I saw a TH-cam " short " with some trippie red music in back, they showed Yami getting captured by zenon and thats all it took to get me to start binge watching 👀
LOVE TO SEE AN ANALYSIS ON HOW BLACK CLOVER TACKLES ITS THEMES AHHHH Idk whats up with all these positive BC videos lol but I'm glad! Great video! Love the channel name too lmao
Thank you, Thank you! Idk, this episode was the nail in the coffin for me. I don't remember the last time I got drawn into an anime this hard. I couldn't even bring myself to start writing this video until i finished the anime!
I love how black clover actually respects it's female characters by writing them very well. There aren't just there to be fanservice or useless damsels in distress. They actually important in the story and they actually just as good as the male characters during battle. They written like actual humans who are complex and nuanced. They aren't just plot devices there to make the main male MC look good like other animes. Black clover succeeds where Naruto failed and that's with female characters.
Facts. Ppl are finally starting to get it: more well written female characters means a better general cast, which makes for an overall better story. That reminds me, new chapter is out 👀
I remember telling one of my friends that noelle is my favourite female character and they were really shocked and were like what do i see in her And ever since she actually started growing proving her worth and she's still my favourite, cant wait to see , it can only get better
There are a lot of similarities between black clover and naruto but the main differences is that in black clover Asta and Yuno were always friends Another thing is that naruto wants to become hokage for respect and Asta wants to become wizard king to show that anyone can become whatever they want if they put enough effort in it
I remembered when a lot of ppl was down grading this Anime, but it reached so far now and the chapters are all epic. Just think is different views on OP characters and their journey in achieving their goals. So sad it's in is last arc. On a different note, really BIG of you to admit when you are wrong. Many channels I'm subscribed too never admits, they just jump on the band wagon. So I'll Subcribed to you for that.
Honestly, when a fanbase is THIS strong, eventually people have to take notice. between the fans and the merits of the show itself, I'd be playing myself not to hold this L lol. I actually think going in with poor expectations helped enhance the experience for me too.
still, a lot more coming from black clover its not the end, they just need to work more on the manga cuz the anime is a banger and it caught up to the manga fast
@@forgotten8778 I don't know, I don't see how the story could not end. I mean, the wizard king is possessed by the devil now and after he is beaten what should still come there? I think the far east/ training Arc will be the last before the fight against corrupted Julius.
it really struck me! there was so much buildup only for both Noelle and Yuno to instantly KO the other guy lol. I appreciate the finer details so it was really impactful for me.
Who said Black Clover isn't deep in it's philosophies, Yami has some bombass quotes: "You don't have time to think about what's right or wrong, for now you only have dreams to chase" "The idea of right and wrong falls apart when we're fighting for our goals, dreams and loved ones" "The only limits that exist are the limits you set yourself"
Yeah the themes of BC are way deeper than I thought they’d be going into it and it still surprises me every so often. Can’t wait for the next chapter in December 😞
He switched magazines completely. The publication BC moved to is called Jump GIGA and it releases every 3 months. On the plus side, chapter should be 50 pages long.
Me and my gf just started the underwater sea temple arc. It's her first time but I've already seen and caught up with the manga. We're both enjoying ourselves watching the series. 😊
Rewatching a series with someone who’s never seen it before is one of my absolute favourite things to do. I rewatched it earlier this year with my cousin and we both had an amazing time
I am honest, I love Black Clover since the beginning. I mean, to the begin I was a little uncertain but what catched me was the fact, that the magic and grimoires aren't just simple tools but complex and so much more. I think it is meanwhile my favourite universe and one of the few where I like both mc's. Yeah Asta appears like the typical shounen mc to the beginning and maybe even now, but, although he is dense, energic and loud, I like him. Not because he doesn't give up or something similar, but that he is resolute, ambitious and clever. He isn't the 180 iq genius but if you are really attention you can see that he has intelligence just more basic. For example, he can really learn fast and adapt new abilities in a short time. If he is inferior in a fight he beats his enemy with strategy and, against of many other mc's, his allies. Furthermore he doesn't hesitate to kill an enemy if necessary and make it also to infiltrate the enemy. (In contrast of a certain gum guy...). Another plus point is, that there are even moments where he doubt about himself or see that is behaviour is wrong and stupid. For exampel, before the witch queen arc had begone we could see that he was really depressed and desapair about his arm because it was really bad cursed. That's why I like him, he is still strong but despite his power it is not like he couldn't evolve dark feelings. He feels anger, sadness and in really bad situations desapair, sorrow, depression and uncertainess. But he learned to control it in a very good way. I hope Asta will characterly evolve and access new powers like Noel already did. Then we know, every magic is depended on character development. More the character grow up as a person more abilities he gets.
You're on point 100%. Asta and Yuno have had a enough time to grow that they're totally their own characters. They've done quite a bit to stand out and it's been really rewarding to see their evolution. I really enjoyed reading your comment!
Actually something interesting is that originally, Yuno was supposed to be the main character, but Tabata thought that a relatable main character would sell better, especially after the failure of Hungry Joker. Guess he was right.
The reason why I watched black clover was because I put a wheel on which anime I should watch (it was between Tokyo revenues and black clover) and it landed on black clover. I'm so glad it did.
I love black clover so much 💯❤. It's crazy how I started it when I was 13 and stood by it up until 2022. I always think about how I grew up with the show and the characters within it🥺.
Charmy is the goat!!! Bro I love when an anime has their characters grow past their initial goals. It gives me the power to imagine what comes next while still giving hints. Wish I could rewatch it for the first time again
I'm glad it had such an impact on you. Working on the next rn actually! I was confused as to why ppl considered BC a baby anime once i learned the message it was sending and how well it addresses real world issues. It really is something special. I appreciated reading your comments, thank you! 🙏🏾
i saw the amount of subs and my mind put a “k” after it because it just made sense with how well your videos are made, imagine my suprise when i looked again and only saw 450. good work man keep it up 👍
When I watched the anime for the first time, I got hooked. I didn't have that many problems with it. The anime was fun and it was intriguing. I wanted to watch more of it even though there weren't that many episodes available to me at the time. I have no regrets.
I think my Naruto fatigue spilled over onto other shows at the time. It was hard to look past the similarities i saw at the beginning especially since i was ready for something totally different. Glad it turned out to be way better than i expected.
Same. Watched the first three episodes and didn't even really pay much attention to the flaws like asta's loudness with how much i was enjoying the show. Bassically became my favorite anime within like the first 20-30 episodes.
WTH BLACK CLOVER TOOK ME A MONTH!! AN EXACT MONTH! And I'm glad it did take a month for me tho because i was able to enjoy it more than i ever imagined to. And i wasn't even thinking when i got into it, i just clicked on the anime and went to ep 1 and i was addicted from there on
That was a truly amazing speech 🥲Thank you for giving a chance to this anime. Thank you for your time spent on it, hoe you'll love this series as much as I do :D
thank you that means a lot to me! :D I couldn't wait on the next season and caught up to the manga lol. loving this series. Sword of the Wizard King was tons of fun too.
I started liking Black Clover at about episode 4 or 5, but I didn’t love Black Clover until episode 49 (when the Black Bulls defeated Vetto). From that point on, I knew I was in for an amazing ride and I was right🔥
BC is Kind of generic, at first, but i fell in love from EP 3. I never minded the loudness od Asta or whatever And the world while seeming simple just drew me in almost immediatly.
I got caught up to Black Clover back in June and honestly, I feel bad for sleeping on it for so long. Much like many others, I wrote it off after hearing Asta's original voice and gave it a try a few more times here and there but I never really gave it an honest shot until this year. It's genuinely such a good show that I almost feel like I owe the mangaka a personalized apology letter.
Finral's change was what really got me hooked. That's when I started noticing the growth not just in Finral but the rest of the Black Bulls as well. The second character that impressed me was Noelle. She's the best female character I've seen in a while growth wise (after Maki. I'm a Maki supremist) And Sisgoleon please let me be your servant
I'm glad you gave it another Chance and now enjoying it. I would like to add some other points about Black Clover. Another important point about Black Clover is Mr. Tabata (the writer) develops characters (like yami , yuno & Noelle who are main cast introduced in the starting) such a way , every Major arc we see some change in them. And these are associated with the story and antagonists perfectly , it shows how big the plot is & how well it's planned and executed. Ex : Noelle :- Elf Arc (got acknowledged by family) -> helps stand against the elves, Spade Arc (avenged her mother) -> helps stand against Megicula Yuno :- Elf Arc (got acknowledged by his squad) -> shows the value of merit , spade Arc (avenged his squad) -> reason that was needed to defeat zenon & parallel him Yami :- Elf Arc ( Made a squad who are reliable for each other) -> technically half his life , spade arc (the same squad saves him) -> which is extension to his life Asta :- Elf Arc (Came to understand more about his World, that helps him move towards his goal & stand against enemy like patry) spade arc (came to understand about himself & his life so he can stand against Lucifero) This sort of story construction where characters get development throughout the series & look refreshing is amazing. I don't need to talk about foreshadowing & details in Black Clover. It's on another level (the best in new gen)
seeing the captains (esp Yami) and the other characters getting protag moments so often is one of the biggest pulls for me. I appreciate a series where EVERYONE is interesting and there really are few titles that do it like this. I'm really glad i gave it another shot.
Just finished the anime yesterday, it was way more enjoyable than i thought i'd be I should not have listened to the haters, this show got heart Its such a simple story, but watching it just makes me happy, it inspires me to be better, not only for myself but also for the people around me
Lmao love the name 👌🏿 And i know exactly what you mean! This series is going down in history for me whether the rest of the culture recognizes it or not. v_v
I got into the show a year or two ago. I originally started watching dubbed but sometime around OP 3 or 4 I switched to sub just because I had easier access to the sub episodes with the sites I had at the time. So basically I never had a problem with Asta's VA. I think the English voice is great and while the Japanese voice had a rocky start, by the end I was put to tears by his performance. I'm serious. Episode 168 made me cry.
don't even know who this youtuber is, but i watch all black clover videos that pop up on my recommended page :) I actually really liked this video, in a lot of ways too, but... ill focus on only one... its simply the way he described episode 77. just by the words that he chose. you can tell he didn't miss any of the info that was displayed. i appreciate the passionate words and much respect to T.R.E
I have never regretted watching it or turned back from continuing and I have been rewarded with each episode....i came in not knowing what to expect having watched Bleach(my all time favourite) so my expectations were low and boy was I in for a treat....so much so that I waited for 4 years after episode 82 for it to be fully complete so that I could binge it to the end
Generic feeling as it was I always loved black clover. Asta reminded me of natsu at first but eventually his charm came to light. So excited for what’s next!
I'm glad yall appreciate it! I was wondering if i was thinking about it too deeply but man this series is REALLY heavy on the subtle details. VERY well written series and I'm looking forward to what Tabata's been cooking over his break in prep for this last arc.
All of the episodes were awesome and I was obsessed with the anime and finished it within 5-6 days. Can't wait to see what happened to yami and vengeance 🖤
I've liked black clover since the first episode it came out on toonami. I didn't even know what it was but once i saw it, I know I had to keep up with it. And that's what I did. I started reading the manga when the manga was at around the time when the wizard king fought patry 1v1 at the palace.
Underrated anime with an underrated channel, mad props for matching the video quality of the most famous anime discussion channels on the platform, looking forward to see your reaction again once you catch up to the current manga chapters🔥
Man that really means a lot fr. I'm just happy to make something worth watching. I plan on doing a few Different topics for BC later on now that I've caught up. That last chapter has me hype!
Im actually glad this is happening more and more lately, i remember hearing about "the new big three" which anime were going to live up to their inspirations and be just as successful or even more so since the market is much bigger. Always seeing Black Clover, My Hero, and then a mix of whatever reviewers favorite 3rd anime was, JJK, Demon Slayer, 7 deadly sins. Besides the point i sinply wrote BC off as screaming kid wanting to become the hokage but the amount of effort black clover puts into to live up to naruto levels of hype worked for me, and i think i know why. It took this story orlf friendship youd normally see in fairy tail clones, and spun if differently Asta relies on the power of friendship not as a mcguffin but because even at asta's most powerful hes still leagues behind his friends because without them he wouldnt have won. I actually can compare this to what people claim is a fairy tail clone when its really everything that worked in fairy tail written well, Edens Zero. This two series are just the same looked down series due to their inspirations seeming too familiar
Love seeing people give Black Clover a second chance especially with how hard the newest chapters go Also Yuno is my favorite rival character in any shonen it's so nice how much he believes in Asta
the manga abd the chapters just get better and better after the fight with lucifero and how its revealed that the one asta is striving to be like turns out to be absolute evil . it gets real dark then after that tho we we get the badassness as we know asta is going to get the powerup in yamis home . i cant explain it properly tho so go to abd and scroll through his previous black clover vids
I’ve liked the anime sense the beginning. Sure I have a very low standard for content but the animation and recently the voice acting is fire. I also find some topics in the show very interesting like how asta’s has litch’s grimoire and stuff like that. And I also really like how asta acts after the time skip and how he’s not as loud and calm but still is very passionate as well. But to put frankly at the beginning it’s a tiny bit above mid now with the more recent stuff going on it’s extremely good and everything has been upgraded. And if you’ve heard the new voice actor from the new movie trailer he sounds really nice if your worried about that. And also the animation is very good it’s just at the beginning at some parts it’s bad but most of the fight scenes the animation is good tier
I didn't know they switched up Asta's VA for the movie! And the Spade wars were insane. It makes me really excited for the rest of the series AND the movie next year.
@@RecoveringElitist i don’t know if they changed the voice actor for the movie but think they changed it at some point but I think I heard someone say that so maybe
I had watched the first 40-50 episodes sometime around when it first got popular, but I eventually dropped it due to how slow the pacing was. I randomly found some new videos on how the show has improved since I last watched it, so I might go back to rewatch it (Cause I barely remember the plot lmfao) :)
Black Clover is one of my absolute favorite animes, I have watched both Naruto and Black clover and white there are similarities I honestly never have compared Naruto to black clover. The animes are both great and honestly I've never been more excited for a new season as I am for black clover. Naruto was more focused on how much he cared about sasuke while black clover to me was a buildup of how friends go through experiences different but at the end of the day will put each other before anything.
idk why,but i didn't really like it till the arc where asta first unlocks his black form,it was like ep 60 or around there if i remember correctly, but well,i just really enjoyed it from there on out,and i am even reading the manga
I hate that people sees Yuno as a Sasuke copy paste. Like the other guy is a blood thirsty murdering psychopath who looks down and at the same time gets jealous with the protagonist. While Yuno on the other hand is the exact opposite.
I felt the comparison was ridiculous to begin with. Sasuke and Naruto was very one-sided. The scene between Yuno and Bronze Boy early on showed me the key difference.
When you were comparing Naruto and black clover in the beginning, I literally could apply like 90% of what u were saying to "my hero" and other shounen.
Shonen will Shonen so i think there are definitely tons of other shows that are similar. Reading it for the first time though, i hadn't come across any series that was THAT derivative. It followed so closely that i found it hard to separate it from its inspiration. It's definitely got Its own lane now but at the start, it was a common criticism of the series.
I've seen so many videos of people apologizing about this lol. It's funny how the series itself parallels Asta in the sense of people writing it off early on, not realizing the insane potential of what happens later.
I was exactly the same as you when I first started BC. It felt generic and unimaginative. When they introduced the concept of dungeons I almost felt like switching it off as it felt so underdeveloped. But it had 2 things going for it which I think really helped me keep going: Yuno actually respected Aster and the world genuinely hates Aster. *minor spoiler for early BC* When Aster is invited to a ceremony with the WK and some of the highest ranking magic knights just attack him I was actually shocked. Naruto never seemed to get the hate that he was meant to constantly receive but Aster gets it constantly and watching him change the minds of the nobles slowly is so satisfying to watch. Oh and that world building that I wrote off - Oh boy does it get good. Everything ties together really interestingly and its so satisfying to watch and have these massive payoffs to questions I didn't even have sometimes. Unlike other shonen where sometimes it feels like arcs are just written out of nowhere each arc for BC seems to be written with intent to eventually payoff in bigger arcs later on. And rewatching it to see all of the foreshadowing is really satisfying as well.
The start of black clover is bad because it was meant to be. Tabata directly stated that after his previous manag got axed, he was writing with the intention to avoid the axe rather than anything else. This is the unfortunate state of shounen jump.
Coming back to this video for a rewatch it highlights a major issue in that lot of people just assume BC and Naruto similarities comes from Black Clover being inspired by naruto and never ask if some of the unique stuff from Naruto is actually unique to is it as most of the similarities between the two series stem from both using standard writing tropes for battle shonen series
Great video, i really recommend reading jujutsu kaisen if you haven't yet because i feel like i get a lot of the same feelings you described just then when i was going through the manga 😀
It's funny because lotta people didn't like clover because of the yelling in the beginning but ironically that's what made me watch it. I had a friend watching it at the Time it was like 6 episode out, I remember being like "who is screaming like that" I tuned in and never looked back! I can see the Naruto comps but honestly clover has a little bit of all of the big three and dbz like fights very entertaining
@@RecoveringElitist relatable…. Im interested to see what other anime/manga you’ve yet to discover, I’ll sub to stay tune… my favorite things im reading now are Jujitsu Kiasen, Chiansaw man, Tower of God and A Trail of Blood.
Noelle predictably is of course the reason a lot of people turn into fans of black clover. The story treats her and other female characters with far better nuance and respect than the stories black clover gains it's inspirations from which is something people were really desperate to see in a long running shounen like this I think. It's no wonder she has won the popularity poll for the number one spot twice in a row as far as the recent manga arcs are concerned. I don't think I've ever seen a shounen manga popularity poll where the main heroine took number 1 twice in a row and stayed consistently high throughout the run
No lie, i thought Tabata was a woman until recently because of how well the women of this series are handled. It even passes the Bechdel test which is pretty significant for a battle shonen.
@@RecoveringElitist your right. a lot of the time only women mangaka in shounen space(like katsura hoshino of d gray man fame) consider female characters priority, and even they are not generally perfect, succumbing to prioritizing bishounen men even over the ladies a lot of the time. Stuff like claymore, rave master and Chrono crusade aside which are just next level stand out examples that are not recent , in the long running battle shounen category I think characters like Noelle should be the baseline quality authors should be putting in, but we don't get that which is a shame. I don't buy the "shounen is inherently pandered to the male demographic so readers shouldent expect well written female characters" excuse a lot of people give in defense. I feel like readers in general appreciate well written characters in general and it's apart of respecting the audience to not simply neglect priority due to something that simplistic
Bullseye 🎯 Fans have been hungry for a while but i guess people are starting to get it more now: nobody likes superficial characters. Between BC, JJK and some of these other newer series, we could honestly be seeing the next evolution in manga/anime writing. A genuinely well balanced cast.
The BEST new gen series, clears fairy tale and is right behind Naruto/Naruto shippuden for me as my favorite. And the similarities between Asta and Naruto all depend on how you interpret each series and honestly are all a huge stretch. You sir, have earned a Sub
to me Black clovers is one of the best Anime and Manga for beginners. Like if someone is a little curious in "What is it to Love about Anime?" I would definitely Suggest Black Clover for Starters.
I never wrote it off as bad, just as something that wasn't for me. Until I got to the first fight with the eye of Midnight Sun's leader. Then the fight between brothers ep 80 had the most chilling momemt
I've actually got a BC video idea cooking that nobody's done yet to the best of my knowledge.... 👀 That said I like to get around to a lot of different series so i don't get bored though. For the year's end I've got some really personal and special topics planned but i just might be able to make magic happen. 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾 Thanks for the support!!!
I do find one thing important about the comparison between Asta and Naruto. the Only thing Asta really has going for him, without the devil residing within him, is his muscles and sword techniques. As for Naruto, without Kurama, he would still be able to learn sage mode, still has massive reserves of chakra because he is uzumaki…. Just wanted to say that it’d be easier for Naruto to reach his Goal then for Asta to reach his, if they noth didnt have their devil/nine tails power.
Black clover is my favorite Anime, season 1 & 2 were good, (I personally didn’t like them very much) but…. After you get past the elf arc and into the spade kingdom arc and into the manga… it’s freakin awesome! I love everything about the anime, but the last two seasons were 40 times better than the first two. All you have to do is get through the 2nd season and I almost guarantee it will be in your top ten anime’s (my opinion). The story may be a little cliche, but was executed very well. I love the art style and characters to go along with it. I definitely recommend it. I told my sister to watch Black Clover with me, she was hesitant at first because it was so long, but now, she wants to dress up as charmy for Halloween 😂…
While many manga / anime have similar themes to Black Clover, none of them (at least that I know) talk about the systematic character of inequality like Black Clover. Black Clover deals with the topic of inequality more than any other manga / anime that I know of.
the main thing i like about this is that later on in the manga, if you want to avoid spoilers dont click show more Conclusion: Black clover does the underdog better than naruto did. As naruto felt like he was just given everything meanwhile Asta wasnt. Now im not saying naruto was given everything, however after he learned rasenshuriken and sage mode he was kinda just given kurama's cloak even still he had to fight kurama. but who sealed kurama inside naruto? Minato. who is minato? the 4th hokage, one of the greatest kages. Naruto did the underdog theme at around a b tier, while black clover did it at about low s to high A Later in the manga you learn that asta is still the son of people from poverty, meanwhile yuno is the prince of the spade kingdom, What i like about this is that in naruto, you find out he is the son of the 4th hokage aka one of the greatest kages, and one of the last surviving members of the Uzumaki clan who were so strong that 3+ of the 5 great nations needed to gather together to defeat them and wipe them out. Black clover on the other hand has asta still be the son of a poor underclassed woman, no one great, but someone who suffers, and had to give her son up so her curse didnt kill him. His grimoire chose him because of the despair he felt during the fight with the chain guy in the beginning of the series. And even to this day, Asta works hard to learn how to use his anti-magic and use it to it's fullest, and his power is also from a low tier devil unlike kurama, and yet another thing asta wasn't just given anything throughout his journey, he had to work for all of things he has now. and before you anime onlys say that his grimoire was an ass pull, no it wasnt, the 5 leaf grimoire is attracted to despair in a need to give someone power, and use the despair to it's advantage. as said earlier he had to feel despair to gain the grimoire, and the sword that was inside of it he didn't know how to use it he just swung it around and it erased the magic. then after experimenting off screen and working hard he was able to learn he could reflect magic with the flat of the blade. Then when he got the 2nd sword he had to be in the middle of the fight with marx to even learn of it's existence
I remember when the anime came out and everyone hated it because of how generic it was... years later and now it's probably one of the best new gen shonen anime we have. Crazy how far this series has come.
I snuck aboard the hype train right before the last stop. Imma enjoy the weekly read from now on a lot more now fr.
It was a bit of a slow burn at first but not that I understand what Tabata was building towards it all makes so much more sense.
I watched the Dubbed version.
Yuno has one of the best lines in the series.
"here's the thing about you nobles, when you stubble you break"
The black clover dub is fantastic
The best way I describe Black Clover, “It starts slow but what it gets good… it only gets better from there!”
Thats exactly what I say too haha
Facts. It has only gone up in quality over time and is currently my favorite anime. I can understand why some people aren't into it, no series is perfect for everyone. But personally, I love it.
When people point out that Naruto and Asta are very similar, I always point out these things:
- Asta straight up doesn't have magic while Naruto just had trouble controlling his chakra
- Asta trained(a lot) instead of moping around or acted petty most of the time
- Asta was never ostracized by the community surrounding him, only ever those of Royals in the Clover Kingdom
- And lastly, Asta's and Yuno's rivalry is way different than Naruto's and Sasuke's.
Yeah yuno doesn't become a terrible fucking person for half the story 💀
@@riftmaker4478 Noelle had trouble controlling it because her family decided to be dicks to her without having a good reason and she wasn't able to get help. When she first joins the Black Bulls, she gets a wand to use and later doesn't need that. Naruto had trouble controlling his because he had a lock on him the entire time of his childhood. Completely different reasons. Also I was comparing Naruto and Asta, not other characters. Also Naruto wasn't a prodigy either, in fact, he was still considered a dumbass until the Pain Arc.

Copy pasting the manga panels in a Anime format is rarely working well
People always talk about noelle and her growth(which is amazing btw) but I love how the show highlights just how important mimosa is as the healer.
Honestly everyone gets to be an MC for at least a second or two and that's fire.
Lmao i can't believe i didn't catch that 🤣
Yeah i binged the manga immediate after binging the anime. I'm even looking forward to a re-read
Wdym? If the comment is a joke, my bad
@@jtisog2213 just something a lil similar with the setting/place of the arcs bro but not its not actually fishman island and wano.
He isn’t the smartest, that goes without saying, but he knows that in the end, violence isn’t the answer they need to end that conflict.
insightful take and I agree with to 100%
the whole Vetto encounter was where a lot of the themes started coming together for me and I'm glad I decided to give it another chance. definitely one of my all time favorites now.
@@RecoveringElitist I think it's also worth mentioning that most, if not all, of the BC Openings themes are quite good. I listen to most of them quite often.

That reminds me, new chapter is out 👀
I remember telling one of my friends that noelle is my favourite female character and they were really shocked and were like what do i see in her
And ever since she actually started growing proving her worth and she's still my favourite, cant wait to see , it can only get better

There are a lot of similarities between black clover and naruto but the main differences is that in black clover Asta and Yuno were always friends
Another thing is that naruto wants to become hokage for respect and Asta wants to become wizard king to show that anyone can become whatever they want if they put enough effort in it
I remembered when a lot of ppl was down grading this Anime, but it reached so far now and the chapters are all epic. @@forgotten8778
I don't know, I don't see how the story could not end.
I mean, the wizard king is possessed by the devil now and after he is beaten what should still come there?
I think the far east/ training Arc will be the last before the fight against corrupted Julius.
Very nice commentary on that Noelle and Yuno fight. Never thought that deep into those 2 moments
it really struck me! there was so much buildup only for both Noelle and Yuno to instantly KO the other guy lol. I appreciate the finer details so it was really impactful for me.
Who said Black Clover isn't deep in it's philosophies, Yami has some bombass quotes:
"You don't have time to think about what's right or wrong, for now you only have dreams to chase"
"The idea of right and wrong falls apart when we're fighting for our goals, dreams and loved ones"
"The only limits that exist are the limits you set yourself"
Yeah the themes of BC are way deeper than I thought they’d be going into it and it still surprises me every so often. Can’t wait for the next chapter in December 😞
@@RecoveringElitist I didn't know the hiatus was that long, thanks for sharing the information

The Vetto fight is where i started taking notice that fight was 🤌🏿
BC is Kind of generic, at first, but i fell in love from EP 3.
I never minded the loudness od Asta or whatever And the world while seeming simple just drew me in almost immediatly.

You guys won fr.
Your breakdown gives me chills we thinking on the same wavelength love the character development in this show it better come back fast
I'm a Maki supremist)
And Sisgoleon please let me be your servant
Finral's character development could very well be the best by the end of the series. His growth is insane.
Ex :
Noelle :- Elf Arc (got acknowledged by family) -> helps stand against the elves, Spade Arc (avenged her mother) -> helps stand against Megicula
Yuno :- Elf Arc (got acknowledged by his squad) -> shows the value of merit , spade Arc (avenged his squad) -> reason that was needed to defeat zenon & parallel him
Yami :- Elf Arc ( Made a squad who are reliable for each other) -> technically half his life , spade arc (the same squad saves him) -> which is extension to his life
Asta :- Elf Arc (Came to understand more about his World, that helps him move towards his goal & stand against enemy like patry) spade arc (came to understand about himself & his life so he can stand against Lucifero)
This sort of story construction where characters get development throughout the series & look refreshing is amazing.

And also the animation is very good it’s just at the beginning at some parts it’s bad but most of the fight scenes the animation is good tier

idk why,but i didn't really like it till the arc where asta first unlocks his black form,it was like ep 60 or around there if i remember correctly, but well,i just really enjoyed it from there on out,and i am even reading the manga
that fight was insane. I'm excited for the next developments in the manga mtyself!
I hate that people sees Yuno as a Sasuke copy paste. Like the other guy is a blood thirsty murdering psychopath who looks down and at the same time gets jealous with the protagonist. While Yuno on the other hand is the exact opposite.
yeah, he's really become his own character. still a little on the bland side but he's far from a black slate and definitely no Sasuke clone
I mean people didn't Lie. Mickey Mouse Club is Pretty damn Dark lol.
You win lol
the manga is peak and with the movie coming out im so hyped
I've seen so many videos of people apologizing about this lol. It's funny how the series itself parallels Asta in the sense of people writing it off early on, not realizing the insane potential of what happens later.
That’s a pretty dope way to look at it actually 🤔
I think it was the truth behind the history of the 1st wizard King that made me realize i didn't get how deep the story really was going
The start of black clover is bad because it was meant to be. Tabata directly stated that after his previous manag got axed, he was writing with the intention to avoid the axe rather than anything else. This is the unfortunate state of shounen jump.
Oh wow I had no idea. That certainly explains a lot. I wonder what we could have gotten without all of the bureaucracy…
True. I definitely oversimplified at first.
Great video, i really recommend reading jujutsu kaisen if you haven't yet because i feel like i get a lot of the same feelings you described just then when i was going through the manga 😀
.i love your editing
Eyy thanks a lot! I'm still getting the hang of things and still feel like an amateur 😅
Talking about black clover getting dark, check out the recent chapters. Because damn was i not expecting something like what happened in the manga
Black clover manga bangs! Better late than never
And now that i publicly handed myself my own L on the matter, i can stan this series shamelessly til the end. 😏
Bullseye 🎯
Fans have been hungry for a while but i guess people are starting to get it more now: nobody likes superficial characters. Between BC, JJK and some of these other newer series, we could honestly be seeing the next evolution in manga/anime writing.
A genuinely well balanced cast.
@@RecoveringElitist absolutely. You got a new sub man 👍
+1 more person to nerd out with! 🙌🏿
Lol thank you! glad you're on board 😁
make another video when you've caught up on the manga, its amazing
The BEST new gen series, clears fairy tale and is right behind Naruto/Naruto shippuden for me as my favorite. And the similarities between Asta and Naruto all depend on how you interpret each series and honestly are all a huge stretch. You sir, have earned a Sub
Black Clover is in my top 3 new gen. It's so good
to me Black clovers is one of the best Anime and Manga for beginners. Like if someone is a little curious in "What is it to Love about Anime?" I would definitely Suggest Black Clover for Starters.
I think it sets a really interesting standard on a lot of aspects of writing that I'm hoping future artists take serious notes from.
I never wrote it off as bad, just as something that wasn't for me.
Until I got to the first fight with the eye of Midnight Sun's leader.
Then the fight between brothers ep 80 had the most chilling momemt
That Langris moment was actual perfection 🤌🏿
Comment for the algorithm. Still waiting for that manga video though
I've actually got a BC video idea cooking that nobody's done yet to the best of my knowledge.... 👀
That said I like to get around to a lot of different series so i don't get bored though. For the year's end I've got some really personal and special topics planned but i just might be able to make magic happen. 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾
Thanks for the support!!!
@@RecoveringElitist no way 👀 you got my hyped cannot wait for that BC video
Welcome to the black clover fan club 😮❤
Joined the train quite late is a w tbh
I feel like i barely made it over the finish line 😂
@@RecoveringElitist you had time until somewhere in 2025
well i love the part when langris tried to kill finnral then Luck, Magna and Asta stops him with very serious mad faces like it's cool
that scene hits every time.
Demon Slayer and black clover Is my most anticipated anime for 2023
Black clover is one of my most favorite animes and the manga after the anime is better than everything before.
Didn’t realize Gordon family that looks silmlar to the adams family
I see you're focusing on the MOST important detail 🤝🏿
So funny that you said it got good at episode 77 :p
LMAOOO!
It was good before then but i refused to accept it. Episode 77 released me from my hater activities 😌
I told my sister to watch Black Clover with me, she was hesitant at first because it was so long, but now, she wants to dress up as charmy for Halloween 😂…
i recommend the dub the characters actually sound pretty cool especially yami and asta
Hoping you picked up the Manga after 170 now that you know the greatness that is Black Clover.
Woke up yesterday forgetting we're on a break this week and expected a new chapter. Pain. 🥲
While many manga / anime have similar themes to Black Clover, none of them (at least that I know) talk about the systematic character of inequality like Black Clover. Black Clover deals with the topic of inequality more than any other manga / anime that I know of.
Absolutely agree.
the main thing i like about this is that later on in the manga, if you want to avoid spoilers dont click show more
Conclusion: Black clover does the underdog better than naruto did.
Naruto did the underdog theme at around a b tier, while black clover did it at about low s to high A
Later in the manga you learn that asta is still the son of people from poverty, meanwhile yuno is the prince of the spade kingdom,
What i like about this is that in naruto, you find out he is the son of the 4th hokage aka one of the greatest kages, and one of the last surviving members of the Uzumaki clan who were so strong that 3+ of the 5 great nations needed to gather together to defeat them and wipe them out.
