"It's still a little notchy... uhm... not too, too bad, I might just live with it..." NARRATOR'S VOICE: "He did not." Great video, I totally agree with you on all the details, that's how I do it as well, nice to see I am not obsessing on it, alone. When your gears last long and your car just feels great to drive, you kinda like to think it's also because of small details like these.
damn. what golden information. rare to find these kinds of infos on the net. i think im having the exact same problem with my wltoys 144001. subscribed dude. from indonesia with love !
I changed my gearbox and gears and it makes that noise on (FTX vantage brushless) I diddnt think anything of it and now I only have rwd and ideas what to do ? I’m new ish to rc’s
my gears are meshing a little too hard, i can really feel the gears, BUT the pinion gear is moving back and forth slightly, so i suppose that that is shimmed it nicely, right? the diff is brand new btw, made with powder mettalurgy.
I am piecing together an axial 6x6 myself in 1/10 scale. It's a slow process, ordering all the individual parts from wherever I can find them (online hobby stores, Amazon, banggood, etc.). What I could really use are a physical set of plans with the exploded views of the different systems, i.e. the suspension, drivetrain, chassis, the 3 live axles (solid axles). Would you know where I might be able to find those kind of plans or blueprints? The last set I ordered (the only 6x6 plans I could find online) were the motor on axle type (3 motors - 3 axles, no drive shafts), and that's not the kind of build I'm doing. I want the 1 motor to 1 transmission to 1 transfer case to 3 axles connected via drive shafts (open/locking/spool/limited slip differentials, straight/portal...at this point I don't care, I just need to see the parts and where they get bolted up...especially the suspension/linkages). It's a 6x6 crawler, not a 6x6 tractor/trailer setup so I need the plans that have the long travel suspension, not the leaf springs. If you could simply point me in the right direction, I'd be very appreciative.
You can get exploded views for pretty much any vehicle by just googling its name and exploded view. As far as plans for what you're trying to build I don't think enough of those things exist that any sort of plans would be available. You're probably just going to have to go full custom. I'd love to see the end result though! Thanks for watching and a sub is appreciated :-)

Wow that video is a blast from the past!
@@DoRC It is, but that feeling when you shim it right has not come to pass! ;)
@reezoshideout :)
This is the best video for gear setup on TH-cam!
Thank you so much. I started making surface rc videos again so if you are interested in those please be sure to subscribe :-)

good info thanks. i was wondering about the od and if it should go to the outside of the bearing or not. kind of an obvious answer in hindsight.
Glad to help!
is it normal for the pinion gear to move back and forth slightly? i assume u need some play in it otherwise it would bind if u added shims?

Very useful, need help finding the right size shims for my axial 6x6 umg if anyone can help?

I find this very useful 😆😆😆
Awesome! A sub is appreciated :)
What rc gears is it?
Looks like an axial bomber maybe. I don't know that was a long time ago :-)
