Minor Alterations 2- The Eclectic Boogaloo
Last Christmas, my high school played Minor Alterations. I jokingly asked my instructor if we would play this composition this year, and he said he had planned on it. I have told my friends and they all freaked out as much as I did.

I play french horn and this song is really fun. I love it so much. It isn't too hard, but it is difficult.

We played the first one two years when I was in high school, one of my favorite peices by far. Now that I know there is a sequel it would have been awesome to play it! And oh my goodness this made me laugh! xD

We played the first one in our college/community band ... had a blast playing it. Soon as I heard this one I wanted to play it but our director thinks it might be a little above our heads. Still hoping we get the chance.

It's never above your head to stretch our skills out a little - TELL YOUR DIRECTOR! And as musicians, we're always better for it! Can't tell you how often I've struggled with a simple (or what looked simple) phrase, and spent hours to get better and better.

We're playing this in my high schools wind ensemble class. It's a ton of fun to play, but we unfortunately had to cut some parts in order for us to be able to play it in time for our concert.
My band played this and me and the other bassist like playing three ships and sorcerer apprentice. Everyone was like wait a minute they are playing but they aren’t moving the bows.

I am unsure of what carol begins at 7:40, but starting 7:54, it moves into a minor variation on Frosty the Snowman.

At 7:40 it is frosty the snowman as well, just in 5/4, minor, and mixed with some extra spices.
Recently played this piece again... brought back memories from high school, but also a question. In both this recording and in my high school's performance, a part of the piece was left out- it would be at 7:42 in this recording. After playing it at my university and leaving it in, it was the one part I didn't remember, and I distinctly remember our high school band director cutting it out, not being an older version of the piece or anything. Has anyone else performed this with that cut? And if so- why is that cut made?

Hah, that would be a question for the composer. But you never know, maybe there'll be a Minor Alterations No. 3.
Frank It's not an alteration to it though, it's actually in the song. Considering that we just played it in community band's Christmas concert. It comes after the Angels We Have Heard on High part, and right before Frosty the Snowman. They actually cut some other stuff from it, now that I listen to it again. Which is bizarre. Huh. Oh well. Guess I'll listen to the other video that has the whole song.

Daniel Stroup yeah they cut like, 30 something measures out of it. I dunno why though, it's weird.
David said in a comment that this recording was from the premiere of the piece before he added two more segments towards the end to help give the piece a final build to the end.
