Man, super informative. I have a 2008 911S and I hate that I can't run my bluetooth music through the car... You have saved my opinion of this car... lol

3 years old but still incredibly helpful. Doing this install now on my 2006 Cayman S with Bose, but I have the CDR-24 head unit, so any details you have around configuration with the CDR-24 please share...

You can only get an aux or ipod with song up and down since it doesnt support text. We usually replace the radio on those cars. The parts are only about $500 + cost of the radio.

Any suggestions on where to find the PCM 2.1 head unit that matches the one in this video? I see them for thousands when I know they're not worth that much...

I would try ebay but then you are still buying a used radio.

Great video , it helped me a lot.
One question if you can answer.
After the installation when i press TEL button it asked me for sim card. whats the problem?
shouldn't it switch the phone on Dension 500S.
    Thanks

I"m sorry I never saw this post. But for future installers that probably means that you have a phone module under the passengers side seat that also needs to be bypassed using the fiber loop.enfigcarstereo.com/DENSION_FOA1TL1.html

been posting on other feeds but basically dension 500 / 1500 working fine w. fiber optic loopback delete on the cd changer, however if I follow the diagram for integrating the cd changer (the car loom's fiber input) into the dension gateway and back into the head unit I loose the amplifier (and navigation)... the head unit sees my cell phone and ipod and scrolls through their content but no sound goes to the speakers (no amplifier)... swithching the auxilliary mode selector tab to service ('O') lets the amplifier kick in and cd changer work perfectly but without any of the dension gateway or bluetooth (cell phone connectivity) features.
any way to get BOTH cd changer AND dension gateway to work together (without fiber optic loopback adaptor delete on the cd changer)???

To keep the CD changer you must connect at the CD changer. This install method only works without a CD changer.

Enfig ... hmmm... sort of defeats the purpose (unless I keep my kid and his ipod plugged in the trunk)... but thanks for explaining...

We sell extensions to run the unit into the cabin.

Enfig ... appreciate your courtesy but being half way across the globe with crappy customs and courrier service I'll just make do without cd changer for now.
