I've only had to pay a deposit once and it was only a tenner for my shin tattoo and both time he only made me pay 70 quid plus the 10 so for a 6 hour shin sesh it was 150 I know him really well but I didn't have to pay if I didn't want to also sometimes not always the costumers fault u was booked in for one at 1 and the tattoo artist didn't show up till 3 and tried to day he was doubled booked even though the gut who was in after me was booked in at 4 and I would of been done so another guy had to do it even though I was waiting for 3 hours already
I dunno who to ask so I'll ask you! Would it be super rude to ask for a cover up from an artist who made the tattoo in the first place? And ofc pay for it. I have a tattoo that doesnt fit my future tattoo plans but I like the artist's style.
not sure if you can answer this, but i paid a deposit, had to cancel the appt a week prior (it said on the card i would lose my deposit if i didn’t cancel at least 48 hours before) but i did not recieve my deposit back? the reasoning given was „we have to pay rent“. is this normal, and i just misunderstood?
Hi, IF it says on the card that you can cancel/rearrange with at least a 48hr notification period, then no they should refund you the deposit or rearrange the appointment. Did you ask if it could be rearranged?
i ended up getting the two small tats at another place for half the price at a more reputable shop (they weren’t custom pieces, otherwise i would have gone at a non local random place as my first choice), as i was booking in for a larger custom piece there anyway. tldr i didn’t plan on rescheduling just cancelling. they did say i can use the appt card as my deposit for another tat, but i’m hesitant to go back to that shop now tbh, and i’d rather lose 50€ than risk getting not the best tattoo.
In general, you don't get your deposit back. The deposit pay the draw and the reservation of your tattoo. The most you can do with your artist is to rearrange a new date.

Yes, it's rude. and yes, if you want a cover up. You need to pay.
