    9:15 Thermador is the OEM for Miele and Bosch column fridges? Huh, interesting, though with Bosch owning Thermador I wonder who's really manufacturing for whom, hehe. Fantastic overview by the way, and history bits are especially interesting. Love the stainless interiors - when paying that much, that seems like a must have.
    Also recently Liebherr announced something similar to the push to open - the Liebherr AutoDoor. No idea when it might become available in USA though, but would be interesting to see how they will compare to the Thermador.

    Thanks for these videos, really helpful. Are there any 24” column freezers that you can buy without ice makers?

      Yeah there's more options. even the Miele one

    How much space in the freezer is left once you add in a water and ice dispenser. It didn't look like much. Expensive for the lack of space.

      It’s designed by Germans…I don’t think they freeze a whole lot of stuff over there. 😒

    this is made by Bosche correct? wondering if the push to open feature can be :retrofitted" into the Bosche columns? the only feature this has that I want is the push to open - helps with kids and seniors who live in my home. The Bosche has the white interiors still and that alone makes it the first choice...its down to that unit or the SubZero ones but budget will probably send me to Bosche - especially if I can add the push to open later (I know it will void warranty but that's my risk to take I guess)

      It’s nearly identical to the Thermador and the Miele for a lot less money. I believe Thermador (BSH) allows you to view their schematics for replacement parts.

      It might be easier for you to try and hunt down an open box Thermador or a display with a deep discount from a local dealer. With Thermador introducing 42 and 48 inch French doors, some of their dealers are probably wanting to swap out their column displays. 🤷🏻‍♂️

      @@appliancesexplained I just really dislike the SS interior on the Thermador, Miele, and Gaggenau units, 😆 but savings is savings I guess...I never considered looking for open box units...hmm
      Would the warranty be the same for open box or display units?

    • @appliancesexplained
      @appliancesexplained  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@triaxe-mmb Typically the open box pieces do come with a full warranty but it might depend on the age of the unit. Just make sure you confirm via email with your sales rep that whatever open box item it is you end buying will come with a full warranty (so that you have it in writing). Most of the nicer appliances that I own were all discontinued/open box items. 😉

    Great video. Anything else on the internals different from Miele to the Thermador? Looks like the Miele is about $2200 more expensive than the Thermador in a 60" configuration. I can't seem to figure out if you're gaining anything with the Miele for increased price.

      I’d check to see who is servicing them in your area. Good local Technical Support is worth its weight in gold. If Miele has better techs locally, I’d go with them (or vice versa). 😉

    Can we still get the white interior options are are they all being "upgraded" to this new look?

    • @bimmer4474
      @bimmer4474 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hate these ss interiors. you cannot get the white anymore. horrible and a pain to clean and scratches easily is too dark as well. I am so upset. Not sure why they did this. Most but sub zero are now moving to ss.

      I just had my freezer replaced because it was faulty and I now have a white interior fridge and a stainless interior freezer and I have to say... I prefer the white too. It just feels brighter!

    Is there a real difference between the Thermador and Gagganau fridges? Like is the Gagganau have slightly better build or materials? Or is it as it looks...basically the same thing for more money and a fancier name?

    • @smilegagadk
      @smilegagadk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes! a huge one, Thermador has the push to open door feature, Gaggeneau has a interior switch that moves the motorized shelves to fit things. in a perfect world both brands would have both features. to really answer your question though look at the history. Gaggenau is a different style of cooking, the vario cooktops etc, Thermador has always been an american brand thus why they are so loyal to making gas stoves and don't even make an electric only range.

    I’m having the most difficult time setting the right temperature.

      I made the mistake of buying this brand and the same.. Now nobody wants to work on this brand.... Thermador or Miele are not good brands to buy...Buyer beware!!!

    Thanks for the great video! By the way, It appears that Miele uses plastic interiors while Thermador uses metal, doesn't it? If so, why do they cost similar amounts?

    They did not get rid of the veggie door bins etc. They are an option, along with many other bin options-gallon milk bins etc

    I proudly own the Thermador Star Sapphire dishwasher, $2'900 was justified to me but 9 or 10k for a fridge I cannot comprehend the justification for the price on those

    It actually upset me that Miele switched from the climate touch control panel in favor of a plastic slider. After recently seeing some very shaky and loud operation on a top of the line Miele washer, I’m led to believe they really declined in quality and are now looking to cut costs.

      Also I can imagine the doors will take a lot of wear. My set is four years old and even with handles - paint has worn off on the doors because people close them by grabbing the edge of the door instead of the handles. I bet those doors will get grubby!
