- These two refrigerators are nearly identical, but the price isn't so much. Is the Thermador Free Standing Refrigerator worth it?

We are looking both of these French door fridges by Bosch and Thermador and where wondering if the Thermador has nicer and sturdier bins and shelves than the Bosch. We have seen the Bosch but have not had a chance to see the Thermador yet. We like that Thermador has white in the back and that it is lighted and looks like door handles are nicer. If you know of anything else that might be different please let us know, thanks in advance.
I’ve worked on a few Bosch refrigerators before. After disassembling the interior, it occurred to me that the appearance of the parts and the overall design uncannily resembles the Samsungs. That being said, I’ve seen hardly any issues with these, whereas the Samsungs are plagued with problems. Do you know if there’s an underlying manufacturer for the Bosch refrigerators?
You're thinking the Samsung fridges have more problems due to more people owning them and thus having more calls. Looking at statistics, for fridges the reliability is quite close, it's certainly possible they have parts coming out of the same factory
Thanks for your reply! I think it’s likely that many of the foreign-made refrigerators have similar designs and parts. Even Samsung and LG are highly similar. It’s speculated that some of these refrigerators are made by the same company, perhaps Midea.
Also, are you aware of the class action lawsuits that have been filed against Samsung for their refrigerator defects? Samsung refrigerators are notorious for problems with their ice makers freezing over, their drains clogging, their evaporators frosting up, etc. I’d encourage you to research it if you haven’t yet done so. It’s unfortunate that so many of them are sold, often at a cheap price - so customers think they’re getting a great product, but in reality they have no idea that the Samsungs are plagued with problems.
@@brandongabos3799 Yep, and that's why I wager it's simply that it's due to Samsung's wide sales; that ice maker issue with the unit built in the fridge, I've seen in every single brand and no one was able to get it right, they've had to move to a hybrid ice cube tray style. Generally I recommend either get a fridge with little electronics, or if they are choosing based on dimensions and looks, get a unit without an ice maker and wish for the best (maybe even go so far as to make sure it's not a sealed system design). I'd avoid luxury brands, as again I don't really see any core components being any different, the one thing about Bosch is that their higher end fridges do have a dual compressor design which can be nice if you like tweaking fridge/freezer temps.
Samsung or lg have nkthing to do with bosch. Bosch appliances from series 6 and 8 are made in the bosch factory by bosch in germany . No shared parts bosch has it s owm compressors and cooling lines manufacturing, they have great warranty and support and no one should ever pay 16k for a fridge from thermador it s stupid . The bosh series 8 french door is more performant and without useless tech that breaks. And no kne shd keep food for 6 months in a frisge it. Gross
am not looking forward to ever buying a new fridge my whirlpool is 27 years old and it works great! cant say much about new ones on the market today
Bosch has a built in column style fridge and freezer offerings and i am wondering if you could do a similar comparison video to the same size thermador units...i have often wondered if beyond the push to open, lighting , and stainless steel panels on interior if there were any significant differences between them...
Great suggestion! We don’t have any of the built in Bosch units but we may be able to go over the differences still.
Americans are stupid no offence, from a buying perspective it is more efficient and effectiv3 to have to units one column fridge and one column freezer beside each other than one american double door fridge or ehat u call french door side by side or whatever, if somethjng hsooens to one jnit the redt of the unit is working and u have a lot of space in the contrary of a side by side
We're in the market for a fridge but thats a little out of our price range. Looking for a 30 sq ft more or less, french door. Any recommendations?? I saw an LG but wasn't sure if the have gotten better. I have now and don't want another Samsung. LOL
I also want the biggest french door that comes in white and isn't from korea
I’ve had an LG fridge for about four years now with zero problems. I also sell appliances (Ferguson). As far as reliability and problems I prefer to sell LG refrigeration over GE, Whirlpool, and I never sell Samsung. Bosch is definitely an upgrade for about 1500-2000 more, but I can sell LG and not worry about callbacks for problems.
I’d advise you to stay away from LG. Their refrigerators use a special kind of compressor called the linear compressor that often fails within a few years of use. If your compressor fails, LG will cover the cost of the part but not the labor to install it (which can be a few hundred dollars). There’s a pending class action lawsuit against LG for this very issue. Do some research about it and you’ll conclude that it’s not worth the hassle to buy an LG refrigerator. It’s a shame because their refrigerators are otherwise very nice and well-built, however this compressor problem is a critical issue that they have failed to properly address.
@brandongabos3799 I'll definitely look into that. I thought I heard they recently changed that but I'll look to make sure.
@brandongabos3799 the one I was looking at say compressor type = smart inverter
how tall are you? The fridge looks small next to you. I ended up buying the freedom-built in. I did not know it was that tall for vertically challenged people like me.. Folks check the size!!! Big size is not always good. 🤣
The lower price point Thermador is junk. The bottom freezer rollers and track require constant adjustment and/or replacement. Unlike their higher end units.
You get a free dishwasher with that thermador fridge. The emerald is a shit model tho
@@thaleek66 I always advise my customers to pay the $500 to upgrade to the sapphire model. Wayy quieter and additional features. Thermador should not be making a dishwasher with the high decibels of the emerald.
@ what state do you work in?
Anyone that would pay $5k for a refrigerator has more dollars than sense.
About to buy a $15k sub zero. I must be the stupidest one you’ve ever met!
