Nirvana and Led Zeppelin quit playing, but Bands like AC/DC, Journey and Queen wanted to keep playing and basically said we're not replacing anyone, we just want to make music.
I grew up when Perry and Journey were topping the charts and filling stadiums. I think Perry is one , if not THE best voice ever ! He could rock out but when it came time for a ballad no one could compare.

Arnel Pineda is very good but as you can tell (I think it's even very obvious in your reaction here) he doesn't even come close to Steve Perry. Arnel has a very good voice and he's very enthusiastic and energetic on stage, but Steve makes you FEEL the song, the music, and the lyrics.
That's precisely the point. Steve sang from the soul. Arnel is good. But imitation of his idol just isn't the same. It lacks the deep emotion Steve sang with.
