Thank god we have well not dealing with city bs. Water twice a day in summer @ 430am for 15am then @ 830pm for 4 minutes we live in Central Valley California where 100+ summer is normal fertilize every 6 weeks the lawn stay super green all year long Happy 4th guys
Used Hydratain this year and it's made a big difference down here in South Texas. I used the granuals and noticed my yard holds on better I between my watering.
I’ve noticed deep watering doesn’t work on my Bermuda. I’ll follow along with daily as well. Everything you’ve shown has worked every time for me. Thank you Doc.
Could you do a video on managing flower beds and methods to keep Bermuda out of them? I’ve looked a bit and didn’t see any videos here specifically on that topic
Hi Doc, thank you for another timely and informative video. I just eradicated a family of moles that were destroying my Bermuda lawn, and I've never seen you do a video on this issue. I have lots of long tunnels just under the surface of the sod, what do you suggest I do to repair my yard? Thanks, your videos have turned my yard from being the worst to one of the best in the neighborhood!
im from belgium and a week ago we had 85 liters/square meter in 1 hour time, thats the amount we normally get in 1 month, yesterday the same. my lawn is a mess.
Is the dollar spot fungus from too much water? I was assuming it had to do with me not aerating. I put down the fungus control last week and no results yet.
Does this hold true if the lawn is in rough shape? Have Bermuda throughout my back but have been fighting off saturation and run off issues. Just making sure this works when those other issues are present.
Its better to water 2x a week at a half in each time. Those periods of no rain will cause the grass to grow deeper roots searching for water. If you water everyday your grass will have very shallow root systems
Actually, established Bermuda lawns have roots that are 14 - 40 inches deep. Root DEPTH is not the issue. The issue, which is covered in the video, is sub-surface problems such as roots, rocks, construction debris, etc.
@@HowTowithDoc that’s the problem. Some of the lawn is established Bermuda, there are some other types mixed about in the shade. I’m trying to turn the tide on what was root rot due to water compaction. Had no gutters, that is fixed. We had had a ton of rain/ice this winter, exposed many problem areas. I swear that ice storm literally moved mud feet away from where it was. So much mud that some of the Bermuda was fully covered. I have fixed this, but does more short watering still ok when the presence of rot has popped up? I keep digging it out, using the right compost to fill in the areas. There is just so much impaction from water and the lack of care from the previous owner that it had been overwhelming to control.
I water every other day for 20 minutes and I had/have so many bare spots because the previous owner didn’t take care of the lawn (i have Buffalo/st Augustine grass in the front) and it has done an exceptional job at filling in the bare spots! The neighborhood does the deep cycle and his yard took a turn for the worst! He does once a week for like an hour and it’s at like 7 at night! What a terrible time to water!
Hook up your automatic system to your water tanks .I have a 50.000 ltr tank .that all the storm water from my house goes directly into the tank......free water
Only problem with watering for short periods everyday like that will keep your grass roots short. They need the periods of dryness so they grow their roots deeper looking for water. When you water every day the water stays at the top so the roots don't go down searching for more water.

@@HowTowithDoc and not allowing water to go deep wont cause those roots to come back up to the surface where the water is? Or do you get enough heavy rains thats not an issue?
How is the root health of your grass using daily waterings? As I understood it, long, infrequent watering helps promote deeper roots. My wife loves your pool and fence. Many of products the American TH-cam lawn guys use are simply not available in Canada. Today I applied some Pacific sea kelp from a Vancouver company called Kelp Man.

Has nothing to do with the grass type.....it's the soil type you have that's key on the watering method you use.

Thanks for all this great advice, I have the best lawn on my block 💪🏻👌🏻
I live in Phoenix and summers are 105 to 115. Should I water deep a couple of times a week or short cycles everyday?

Thoughts on using liquid Hydretain? I just bought it online. It should help with watering.
it cuts down watering for sure ..I see it the best in potted plants
I'd rather do it naturally via biochar and organic matter. Using a polymer on the soil is just something I don't want to do.
Thank you! I live in Ontario about an hour east of Lake Huron. This spring and summer has not been favourable for the grass. Hot, hot, hot!!
I use LinkTap and couldn’t be happier.
Zero G hoses are awesome. I've been using them about eight years. Same hoses.
I've got dollar fungus from too much rain. Literally we're 4x the amount of rain on avg.

@@owbeer ya we have been getting dumped on here too. But the west is dryer than my nipples probs gonna be a bad fire season for them again.

where do you adjust water pressure?
I would love to aerate my lawn but don't have a machine. Doc, can I just make holes with a pitchfork and open it up like that?
Doesn’t watering frequently for short periods promote a shallow root system though?
Bermuda roots can easily be 14 - 40 inches deep. It's really not the issue. During normal times, yes, cool season lawns it applies.

Nice video Doc. Happy 4th to ya. 🇺🇸👍🏻
Where do I get an aerator?
So Cal. IE 95 to 115 in the summer no rain for 4 to 6 months. Yeah we have sprinklers.
Any natural products for eradicating crab grass?
Thanks for the information.

Are the mushrooms growing in the backyard not a concern?
They’re a sign of good fungus and nutrients in the soil.
Why do you not have a well for watering instead of city water?
You can’t just drill wells anywhere
Thx Doc!

No... keep in mind that 1" of water applied slowly to clay soils only goes 4 inches deep. 1" is a LONG RUN... about an hour per head.
I’m looking for a person to install a sprinkler system for me.
