I liked this as soon as he said "I'm a professional, but I'm not perfect" That's the kind of energy I like. Good man. Sound advice that I've heard in other videos, but that's sold me to subscribe.
seeing how you transformed these photos makes me want to get into photography so badly UGH when i get a job i’m gonna invest in some good gear and whatnot 🤝🤝
Blown away by that cellphone shot/edit. Now you're making want to go back through all my photos to screw around with the perspective tool. BTW, just made a video talking about channels that I think deserve more attention and I talk about ya. Keep it up man, really loving the concert photography content.
Hey!!! Thanks, the perspective tool is so so good for fixing the horizon, getting better symmetry, etc. I love it, glad you dig it! Also thank you for that!! I really appreciate that shout out and the video 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 super flattered, and the other creators you mentioned are great as well!! Someone who joins my streams brought it to my attention, they said it was recommended to them and they were freaking out in the stream hah appreciate it 🙏🏼
9 minutes 30 in, the second edit with the orange and blue is best for me. I will say this though, I much prefer the landscape on that shot. Still crop in, but I prefer having the whole artist in the show I feel.
Thoroughly enjoyed this! I don’t have twitter so I had no idea you were doing this haha, I would have loved for you to edit some of my concert photos. Either way, I loved the video.
While I really love the colours and contrast, I do feel a lot of the edits blow out the highlights a lot creating unrealistic skin tones where a source of colourful light hits. Other than that though, super sick! Especially love the crop on the first photo!
This is so cool. I’ve only fairly recently started exploring levels and sh*t in the iphone photos app (none of it’s concert though, i’m not that cool) and it’s really fun. Watching the editing process scratches that same kind of satisfaction itch as like watching like home improvements or makeovers or whatever where like you start out with something that’s like okay but not very remarkable (or even downright ugly lol) and hand it to someone with skills and taste and a vision and it just looks so neat and clean and it’s so satisfying. Good sh*t, could watch it all day ❤️
not concert photography, but photography related: what lighting would you recommend for someone setting up their first studio?? im seeing a lot of different things, but im not sure where to start.
Hey Kylie! It just depends on what you're interested in/what your budget is. For a studio, I'd recommend getting 1 "strobe" light that will be your flash for taking pics. 2 would be best to help you get different lighting styles. Look up "photo studio strobes" on Amazon for options!
i hope one day jawn makes a lightroom for dummies type video because ive tried watching others and the people narrating them are always so annoying i end up clicking out lmao
These edits are so specific, the craftsmanship is good, don’t get me wrong. I just feel like these are beautiful pictures, small details and touch ups would suffice. You did do good work though
I appreciate your comment! I'm curious, was there something else you would have liked to have seen in this video? I'm just experimenting with TH-cam so I'll most likely make another video similar to this in the future. Thanks again!
I think would be great if youtube providers would tell you when their movie actually starts. in this case for instance it's 2 minutes in. Everything before that is all about getting you to like and subscribe and other dross.
how does one make the artist isolated against the background? i tried to do it in lightroom by healing while adjusting the sharpness and it did nothing
Hey Kasper! Anytime I do that kind of edit, I bring the photo into photoshop. There are many more tools that you can use to get rid of things in the background etc.
No nobody has mentioned that before but I guess I can see it?? Lol I sometimes get Maluma tho And sure thing! Anything in particular you’d like to know?? I’m still using it to this day
i hope now day jawn makes a lightroom for dummies type video because ive tried watching others and the people narrating them are always so annoying i end up clicking out lmao
well, i was looking at your video for tips on editing extreme lighting shots... but you said something that bothered me. "sometimes i just pulling things and pushing things and sometimes you end up with something that looks really cool" but like... thats what every amateur does? I would love to see something a little more objective. like how do you plan an edit, how do you decide what you want to do with it? how do you edit multiple photos to achieve a similar style? cause the challenge i am facing is that i have 10 different, great looking images... but it looks like it was taken by 10 different photographers at 10 different events.
Hey Max! Thanks for checking out the vid and for leaving feedback. I wouldn't say pushing/pulling sliders is amateur depending on the intention. Considering the experimental approach to these edits, I wanted to share my thought process when adjusting exposure, framing, color, etc. I usually use presets on my photos and that really helps make the whole set feel more consistent, which is a good approach for defining your style. I'm not sure what kind of photography you work in, but presets are good for maintaining a consistent style. Also, being consistent when youre shooting will probably do the most to make it not look like it was from 10 different photographers. Consistency is key! As for other topics like "planning an edit" or "editing multiple photos," those are great ideas for videos! I'd love to go more in depth on those topics whenever I start uploading again! Photo is a very subjective topic though, just like any art, but if you have specific questions i'm happy to help. Thanks!
jawnathon i’m mad you edited a phone photo after you said no phone photos cuz i had some cool ones i wanted submit. other than that, i love to see you edit. it really is an extremely interesting art! i think so many people take photography for granted, but seeing the process behind it always makes me appreciate it a little more.
the orange and blue edit was superior
damn. I knew it.
Jawn pronouncing Yising 3 different ways and doing it wrong every time made me smile. RIP Yising.
Brynn, thank you for submitting! Your photo was great, I just wanted to do an edit that wasn't parx haha please feel free to submit next time tho!

I definitely suggest doing more of these videos. This was truly an experience, watching your takes and edits on photos!
The green-blue looked cooler as a picture but the orange-blue complimented the artist better imo
hi jawwnnnn~ one question: how are you?
Loved the video. It's cool getting insight into how you edit certain photos and the little tricks and skills one can use!

The clone stamp tool is my best friend as a shelter photographer
Your craft is off the hook, you have a preset package?
Thank you! It’s been a long time coming, but presets should be available very soon - stay tuned for updates here on the channel 🙏🏼
hi! i'm wondering, do you have any tips (camerawise, etc.) for beginners to concert photography?
Prideful Screamos¡¡!! Tons! Depends what you’re asking about!
Jawn Rocha whats the main thing that photographers should remember before going to their first concert gig?

I’m scared Jawn reminds me of my band instructor
I love your profile picture omg
