Laila is an international journalist. It is time Nigerian government officials do their homework before speaking to the press. The minister of works embarrassed himself the other day because he never expected the question Laila asked. This guy or minister talked about technical people. Are those technical people not working under you? The minister should know everything that happens in your ministry whether you are a substantive minister or minister of state. This is what happens when people who are not grounded on the portfolio assigned to them do, not knowing much about their office. Public officials should know that Nigerians are smart and well-schooled and should not be taken for a ride.

I have never heard in all my years as a Regional and City planner that environmental impact report is done on phases instead of full scope. It's only on implementation that preminary approval can be break down in stages. The journalist is asking relevant questions.

@@kunleogundele5067 Your statement is not logical. There are several states that will benefit from this project which includes Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Cross River. So this is not about Lagos. We all want the project, but we do not want to create issues in the envt because of the road project. Try and understand this simple explanation. EIA is carried out mainly to reduce the impact of a proposed project on the envt.

The woman is talking about following the process and documentary pre-approval, and final approval. This minister is embarking in personal philosophy, personal ideology, and speculation. That’s always the problems we do have in the Nigerian space. No one is against the project. It’s an excellent project. We are talking about following the provisions, the process and documentation of the pre approval and completing approval. Instead of the minister approaching the mistake and correcting the gaps. He appeared to be defensive and driving into emotions.

The truth is that owners of Eko Atlantic had wanted for themselves the whole miles of the Lagos Coastal land area close to Eko Atlantic, which is one of the most sought-after prime real estate in Africa. Coastal land to the sea or ocean front real estate has become one of the sought-after real estate in the world. Eko Atlantic wants to expand they land space through land fills, and businesses like Land Mark just happen to be obstacles to that plan. The coastal highway running specifically through that corridor will open much needed access to Eko Atlantic Real Estate. So with the Help of their Nigerian Politicians and helpers, Eko Alanttic management with their Construction company Hitech construction are in a hurry to get that area land filled up before the Nigerian public start scrutiinizing the whole deal. There will be a COASTLINE - GATE INQUIRY in the Furure for this matter, mark those words..

Obi and Arise dont want the South-South road.
The act does not contain the details of the processes to implement an ESHIA. The Minister is right. Arise do not know the subject they are talking about. Pathetic. Ignorance is bliss in Arise. 😂😂😂😂😂

Just imagine considering nonsense technicalities in a project that will benefit the country...
What do you stand to gain Arise news?
If govt didn't start this project because of all this technicalities you're mentioning, this TV station will be the first to criticize...
God bless the federal government for starting the project.
Better be people oriented than political oriented

Oga, please go online and study what an EIA is. It is very serious anywhere in the world. The results of an EIA can cause a project scope to be significantly revised. Especially when you look at the fact that the project scope affects areas where people live and work. Not only Landmark or similar businesses.

It's Landmark owner who is sponsoring them. Landmark that can't produce any approvals for his project while he has been collecting rents on his illegal structures. EFCC should arrest him for illegal rent collections.

Arise news, thanks for bring this EIA to the public. The job of the minister regarding flood is just "warn them". What about the government look for ways to prevent it and give alternatives for those that will be affected?
