I am a very heavy sleeper so I only hear my husband's sleep talking when he conks out before me. The first time scared me for a minute as he rolls over, eyes open and says "he's not here......" I'm like "who's not here?!?!" Cause it's 1130 pm and I'm reading a suspenseful supernatural novel. Then he answers with "my brother......." At that I calmed down and promptly messaged his older sister. The next 2 times were just silly; "so what you're telling me is no one wants to test y'all's fricken skills?!?" Out of the blue and rather loudly was his most recent one. He's also woken me up screaming having a nightmare. That's never a fun one cause I end up just holding him until he stops

Also for those curious, the reason you don't want to challenge someone with delusions or dementia/alzheimers is because 1) it will make the person distrust you if you flat out deny their delusions or treat them like they're crazy
    2) for someone with dementia or alzheimers, their memory is essentially broken. It's not getting fixed. So, someone with advanced alzheimers might not remember that their son is dead. And if you tell them, it's just going to be the trauma and grief of loss all over again. And even if you tell them, they WILL forget. It is inevitable. The repeated stress and trauma will only make them miserable. It might sound counterintuitive to try to find ways to keep them in their delusion (such as having them write letters to a dead loved one when they ask to see the person, so they don't find out that the person is dead, but can still express their love), but really it's for the best.

I get chronic sleep paralysis. Early into dating my gf, I was sleeping at her place when I woke up screaming. She asked what was going on and moved me to help me get unparalyzed. I turned to her, apparently completely lucid, and told her "It was walking towards us," then fell right back to sleep. She was horrified.

I used to study for exams with a female friend in her house. I slept in the couch. She was afraid of the dark, so she always slept with living room lights on and her bedroom door open. Suddenly she started sleeping with her door locked and all lights off. After a few times, I asked why.
At one night, I sleepwalked to her room and just stood there. She saw my dark figure against the living room lights and was scared out of her mind. I stood there for quite a while before sleepwalking back to the couch.
I cured her fear of the dark.

Sleep walker/talker here. Most memorable moments that come to mind are
    - when I woke my mom at 2 in the morning, telling her that I couldn't find the remote. She got up, assuming I was having trouble sleeping, and was going to help me look for it, only to watch me turn around and crawl back into bed, completely unconscious. (that's the only time I've ever sleepwalked that I know of)
    - years later, my boyfriend at the time would sometimes call me to help me wake up for work since I had a tendency to turn off my alarms while asleep and not realize it. So he calls me one day and I'm not making much sense. He asks me if I'm sure I'm awake, and I'm like "yeah, and I'm gonna kick your ass at Risk!" (we'd been playing a lot of Risk, and I was kicking his ass, tbh) he proceeded to try to confirm that I was awake, and apparently I acted like I was waking up. But after he hung up I laid right back down, completely asleep 😂😂😂

I was a sleepwalker as a child. One of my most memorable trips : walked around the dining table twice, grabbed my school bag, grabbed my pencil case, took a single pencil out, put the pencil on top of a stool, closed the pencil case, put it back in the bag, put the bag away and went to take a leak. All the while my parents were looking at me from the couch in silence.

apparently on rare occasions I sleep talk. Once I was at a camp and a girl in my tent didn't have a very good sleeping bag, and I told her to take my spare blanket if she needed it. She initially declined but I guess during the night she got cold and went to take my blanket, but I punched her in the face. In the morning she was very upset and told me about it and I felt so bad lol
Another time I had been playing an absurd amount of minecraft during a school break, so much so that I dreamt I was still playing. I woke up mid chopping down a tree, cause I was moving my arm like you do in game irl. I sometimes wake myself up from dreams cause I start talking or moving irl, it's very confusing gotta say.
The first instance was when I was about 4. According to my parents, whose bedroom was next to mine, I once yelled out "No Scooby Doo! Don't take my purse!"

I dated a boy and we had these matching stuffed animals, the main difference was the one for him had a little bow made of valentines ribbon sewn on it, one day he told me his brother who he shared a room with claimed he (the one I was dating) would try to make out with the stuffed animal in his sleep…
My younger brother also sleep walks he one year he found his way into my bedroom on Christmas Eve knowing he had to pee and was convinced my room was the bathroom I was still asleep my parents caught it and he did in fact have to pee and it was sheer luck they managed to get him to the bathroom before he peed on the side of my bed!!!! The same brother also at points when my parents were still getting him to sleep in his own bed would wake up on the living room couch almost every night that he hadn’t tried to get into our parents bad, I’m not sure if he moved in his sleep or woke up moved and then forgot, we did later find out he has sleep apnea and is easily scared which was why it took my parents years to train him to sleep in his own bed

Not a partner, but grew up with a family of sleep walk and talkers. Once, I had stayed up late in a room with my older sister, listening to an audiobook. Eventually, she fell asleep and a part in the audiobook played where a lady said, “You will always be welcome at my house!” She randomly muttered, “Thank you:)” and went back to sleep. A different time, I was hanging out with my sisters and cousins in our sleepover room. I got tired and went to sleep. In what felt like 2 seconds after, I got woken up by everyone saying, “What???” Apparently, I had said, “You kill them and you kill people.”
My youngest sister and I share a room and I like to stay up and sit near the door. One night, she got up, headed towards the door, but stopping nearby. I assumed she was going to tell me to move so she could go through and do whatever, but instead, she squatted down, pulled down her pants, and peed on the ground. I immediately woke her up, but was more bewildered than angry. I told on her for obvious reasons, but mom said it was just sleepwalking and all of us did it.😭 I honestly hadn’t expected sleepwalking to look like that.

My stepsister used to sleepwalk when she was younger. Her room was on the 1st floor (2nd floor for Americans). One night she got up and peed down the stairs. Then she apparently went back to bed. She woke up the next morning from the sound of her dad cursing the dog because he thought it had been him. However, when she noticed her pyjamas were wet, but her bed was dry, she realized the truth.

Second story happened a couple years later. He was living with his girlfriend and her sister. Her sister's boyfriend stayed over one night, and they were woken up by my butt naked brother laying down on their bed. They screamed for him to get out, which he did. The yelling woke his girlfriend up, and she left her room to see what the commotion was about. When she got to the hallway, she say my brother walk into the living room. She followed him. He then proceeds to open the front door, walk out onto the porch and starts peeing. After he's done he goes back to bed. The next morning my brother wakes up and heads to the kitchen where everyone else is. He says good morning, and little sister's boyfriend greets him with "F*ck you natureboy!"

My brain combined a programming concept and an 80's reference. My wife, a software engineer, came into the room while I was asleep. I sat up and asked her to go buy me a static member's only jacket. I woke up to her standing over me laughing hysterically with no idea what was happening.

I'm the sleep walker/talker. Once, I sat straight up in bed, stared in the dark closet, and said, "That doll over there is creepy." There was no doll, but the next day, at work, a coworker told me a customer brought in a doll arm covered in fake blood.
Another time, I ate my own DQ Blizzard in my sleep and angrily accused my best friend I nannied for at the time of eating it. We argued because she claimed I ate it, but I had no recollection of it.
Yet another time, I woke up with a half eaten slice of pizza as I half-stood, half-laid in the fridge. (Top half being the fridge and the bottom the freezer.)
I apparently talked about a pizza guy bringing me flowers in my sleep when I was a teen, and later I married a man who used to work at Domino's. He occasionally brings me flowers and makes some dang good pizza, too!
I also did much of my homework in my sleep and made straight A's.

Oh, I have stories GALORE on this! Both I and my brother talk in our sleep, but my brother also sleepwalks. My first story happened when the two of us rented a house with our best friend and his wife. I had already gone to bed and was awoken by our friend saying my name. I was facing the wall, and without turning around to look at him I ask what he wants. He asks me why my brother is in my bed. I jump up and see that, sure enough, my brother is on the other side of my bed. I tell him to go to his own bed, and he replied that he already is. I tell him he's in my bed, and that he needs to go to his. He doesn't move so I push him onto the floor. He then calls me a couple of names and reaches up, grabs my comforter and starts to pull it down onto him. He was just going to crash right there on my floor.

My husband is quite the sleep talker himself. When we were first dating he worked at a school for children with severe intellectual disabilities, and he would often talk to his students in his sleep, including one time where he very insistently told a student that poo is for the toilet, not the walls. But my favourite was one night as I was getting ready for bed, he suddenly grabbed his blankets and slammed them down over his lap and shouted at me, “Honey, there’s a bird in here!!” Of course, there wasn’t, and I tried to convince him of this but he was adamant. So I asked if he might take a peek under the blankets, just to confirm. He at first refused, saying if he did the bird would escape, but finally I convinced him. He looked under the blankets, said, “oh, there isn’t any bird!” and promptly went back to sleep. I could hardly wait til morning to tell him about that one!

I will talk in my sleep with gibberish, I have been seen with my eyes partly open and sleeping, and I have passed these on to my daughter, who will straight up sit up, look around, say something, move a cat around, look right at me, and then lay back down.
I also had PTSD dreams from when my son rolled off the bed as a baby. For the next two years I would wake up many nights gasping and leaping towards the side of the bed, scaring my wife to death.

With my ex, once in the morning we woke up and she was extra affectionate. i went along with it and enjoyed the morning, and then she said "last night was good" ...which made no sense considering i fell asleep while she was at work. I had always sleep walked as a kid, but as an adult i thought that was mainly done. If i was tired, i could maintain conversations and have no knowledge of it when i was fully awake. But this?? Never. Welp, apparently i had fingered her to close completion. Before i turned around and started to snore. She assumed i got tired during and eventually fell asleep too, but i had no memory what so ever. We laughed about it as we both tried to piece together what happened and she admitted that never once did i talk or kiss her, just went straight to work and now knowing i wasnt conscious it had made more sense to her.
Im single now and will never be sleeping with anyone platonically because of this. As a woman, sleepiver between friends are common and make it known that i wont share the same bed bc of this😂😂😂😂 thank goodness she was my gf at the time, but i cannot risk this happening again😂
