Well, I met one of you! :) Had a fine time though the weather did me very little good! When the hot water bottle has no effect on Saturday you know it's rough.
The weather was particularly bad! Hope to catch you again at the next event! ❤️
Mudpocalyse was the first event at Dadford Road - it was a lot wetter because there was ZERO drainage and no gravel/bark roads laid, so the entire crossroads from Senate/Mhorish across to the woods was just churned into ankle-deep mud. But PD spent a LOT on improving the site, with great success. This is the first time we've had an issue with water since then (although the weather machine has hit us with high winds and blistering heat a couple of times)
Ive heard from friends that are long time larpers that this was the worst its been in a long time

That is interesting! I can imagine without the wood chips and drainage and if they had allowed vehicles on site, it would have been the worst ever. Although, after nine events, it felt like a right of passage to experience a muddy one! 😂
It was my first event and I had a fantastic time! Despite the weather so many fantastic people being absolute gems the entire time.

It was a great event. Even my battle on the Sunday was good apart from the rain. Saw you both there. Robyn in a rush passing me as I went to the gate . Oliver chatting alot by your tent 😀Atleast I met the Empress which was a high

This was my first ever LARP and was truly incredible to be part of. Unsure if you saw me, I was the person in the Stag Headpiece from Wintermark :) I saw you both there which was super cool!

It was a shame about the weather but it was still good fun. Fingers crossed for some nicer weather in June though 🤞

A joy as always to have your video playing as I clean my larp kit. I always find something to learn from your experiences. Being just back from Chroniken von Mythodea, we had similar bad weather here in Germany. It made for a rough first event after a five year break. Much of what you have said was relevant to my experiences as well. Thanks again for the effort you put into making these videos.

@@2have2role I would recommend attending ConQuest of Mythodea in a joint project with the TH-camrs of Skill Tree.
E1 was my first time at anvil, first time larping and first time camping. The cold on Friday night was so bad that my asthma nearly killed me >.< Saturday was a lot safer as the Player Welfare team were amazing and helped a lot with extra bedding
Yeah, Friday our group had to pull together to make hot drinks and fill hot water bottles!
Creating a Marcher monk character for my first Empire and first ever time trying LARP (have dabbled with tabletop, mostly as GM, over the decades and have done historical reenactment for 20+ years so feels like there a bit of a Venn diagram overlap).
Waffle aside your videos / podcasts have been immensely helpful in trying to get a sense of it all before I dive in

I ended up wearing my warmest OC jumper under my cloak. For pretty much the entire event. Even with thermals and layers under that I was freezing.
Yes, the trick is to add layers way before you need them!
mate I was so hungover on Friday so I feel ya 😭 except I have to start event prep from like 10am onwards...
You will need to come hang out one Thursday. I enjoy bumping into your many faces but it would be nice to see you OC 😂

Regarding the MC tent-swap, that was due to the normal MC tent not being in a good state. It isn't a deliberate or permanent change, but a compromise due to the situation we found when pulling tents out of their storage boxes. I expect the normal big one will be cleaned and dried ready for E2, but no promises
Ah that explains it! Tent maintenance is a pain.

I was there for Mudpocolypse, it was worse but this was pretty damn close.

Honestly, the weather was a massive buzzkill this event. It was such a shame. But I think we've just been spoiled with good weather the last few events
It was so rough for my first larp. Still had fun though
I think we were lucky that Saturday day time was OK enough that we collectively get a good chunk of game done.

I spent £110 on diesel in the truck from swansea (170 miles ish each way and 3 1/2 hrs) with the wooden longhouse on top. It was my 9yr old sons first larp even though he enjoyed the ambience of the place he was kinda disappointed that he didn't get to fight in the big battles or get to fight more monsters in general I think the kids side of things needs to be worked on a bit more, it felt a bit 'young' for him at points. Having to handball an entire wooden structure through the mud was not fun though especially when i have a vehicle built for offroading lol! Felt like I could've done a couple of runs around wintermark and helped shift everyone's heavy awkward stuff and it could've made it alot easier. For me it was nice meeting up with old mates that I hadnt seen in a couple of years though.
I think they have always had an age limit on the big battles and they increased it in recent years. I guess they couldn't make an exception for one vehicle without allowing hundreds of others with the same issue.
To be honest i really struggled to approach people and roleplay, hopefully i can meet more of Dawn next time!
Its not easy when there is a lot of Roleplay happening and people are hidden away in their respective camps because of the cold and rain. Also Empire doesn't really have any direct RP prompts. The easiest version is to go round and Trade/Sell or campaign or collect peoples views on a subject for a project.
@@2have2role yeah the weather may not have helped. I did have some great chats about bourse, next time I'm hoping to go on with a bit more confidence and a better idea of who my character is :)
