    Note to anyone doing this: swap the hardware of your apartment but take pictures before you make the change and label everything so you're landlord can't say something is missing or it's changed when u swap them back

      Yepppp I made the mistake of not doing this…I’m also very ADHD…so I obviously procrastinated when it came time to moving and it was total chaos until I just collapsed and gave up haha. I had enough on the “luxury apartment” (I DID manage to take pictures of the several times they allowed security to be overlooked while people were getting cars stolen, took pictures of a giant hold in bathroom closet that was likely mold and I have mold illness on top of other things haha so ANYWAYS I basically documented every time they were super lazy (happened after management changed, as always) yet didn’t think to take pics of the dang hardware etc….BUT my spy skills got me my security deposit back anyways! Haha. That story could have been told in two short sentences but…ADHD

      True. It reminds me of when I rented an apartment, back in 2000, that had some scratched walls and detailings. I took photos right away and gave physical copies to the rental company. When I left, years later, they tried to make me pay for an expensive reno and I just made them check the pictures. Phew, I patted my backs for being smart lol

    Great video as always! I bought two of the Bissa shoe cabinets after seeing them in a previous video and I love them! They are great to keep shoes organized and reduce visual clutter. I like how you share such simple ways to make a rental your own. Will be looking for black hardware for my cabinets as it really elevates the look. TFS!

    Very useful video!✨ Reynard let me ask you a question. How do you feel about minimalism and are you a minimalist?

    • @reynardlowell
      @reynardlowell  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thanks Alexander! The answer to that will be quite lengthy, I don't think it is as black and white as is often portrayed 😅
      In short, I do practice minimalism in my life, but definitely not to the extent as someone like Joshua & Ryan from The Minimalists or Matt D'Avella.
      There is also another point that is often interchangeable; minimalism in design and lifestyle, I think they are two very different thing.
      Having said that, both adopt the concept of 'less is more', which I think is something we can all benefit from. I don't think there is any right or wrong here, and definitely not a competition on who owns the least amount of stuff.
      I like this take on minimalism by Joshua & Ryan www.theminimalists.com/minimalism/

    Hey much love from India💗 I wanted a tip. The base color of my 3 bedroom apartment is white. How do I introduce other colors or neutrals in each room so that each have a unique personality? I'd appreciate if you could suggest some soothing colors.. to tie up the entire space. Thanks in advance. ❤️🙏

    • @reynardlowell
      @reynardlowell  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! You're in luck if you have a white base since anything can go well. I'd suggest going to Pinterest or Houzz and start pinning/saving pictures. Slowly you'll see a pattern on what colors or decor you like.

    Great video 😊
    I really have an awkwardly shaped hallway with 5,5 doors including the entry door. So almost no wall to put furniture at...
    So far, there's only a smal night table for putting down keys and purse and a shoe shelf that's fitting just about next to the opened front door.
    I think it's 6 m² and I'm really lost about how to make it comfy and welcoming 😔

    First time watching your video. I like your voice and the music background. I like your style, stylish , comfortable but not loud. Amazed by how you used a black tape to do little matching.
    One question, most people use screws to fix the handle of the shoes cabinet but you used glue. Why? Does it durable? May be your cabinet inside isn’t full. My shoes are heavy. A bit worry.

    • @reynardlowell
      @reynardlowell  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! If you're unsure better to use screw. I did screw custom knobs on IKEA cabinets in my most recent living room makeover video. For this one it's pretty lightweight so I simply use glue as it is faster and easier.

    It's nice but I can never understand the effort to make a rental look nice. The potential trouble with the landlord, or house mates fucking it up, not to mention having to replace everything on top of packing during moving just isn't worth it. Better to save the money, and get a permanent home to deco your heart out.
