As with all psychoactive substances, it has negative effects. Just as caffeine and especially alcohol. The reality is this: It's way less dangerous then most other allowed substances people comsume daily and it has some health benefits other drugs like alcohol don't have. If you're skeptical, think about this: How many drunk people have you seen that beat each other and then compare to how many stoned people you've seen. There, easy.

I had years to suffer because i was addicted heavily (psychologically). It was and still is a very tough fight but I am very happy to be able to go out and have long days climbing at the rock, finally working and doing a lot for university.
When smoming a gram a day back then I barely had enough energy to go for a walk, instead I would sit at home playing origins all day or recording music when I had enough energy.
Also no creativity loss in music through stopping. I went even more productive.

@@42ZaphodB42 Alcohol is the substance doing the biggest social damage in the world, it is the devil.
For my body personally weed is worse tho, as I am addicted to weed and cant control myself, whereas i am not addicted to alc, so my enemy is weed... sadly... I would love to be able to just smoke occasionally... But it always leads back into wake and bake in the end...

As a daily user, I'm really happy you made this video. People who smoke, more specifically younger people who smoke, never want to acknowledge the downsides of it and think that they're totally ok. Smoking pot is arguably the safest vice a person could have, but that does not mean that it comes without possible side effects.

    • @TheRealPots

while i do agree to an extent i think it basically comes down to the person, some people just take it different.

@@TheRealPots Oh absolutely, its subjective to the individual smoking it for sure. Theres broad similarities that can be made from stoner to stoner, but some people just have negative reactions to it unfortunately.

@@stonedperson97 I am sadly one of those unfortunate people, I'm borderline allergic to it. My first time smoking pot was with a bong, one hit and I was in the bathroom throwing up for 2-4 hours and afterwards I passed out. At first I thought it was just because it was my first time and that I took to big of a hit but sadly that wasn't the case. At a later date I tried taking a small hit off of a friends blunt but again I ended up in the bathroom. It seems my body just doesn't like it.

I’ve had pretty spooky derealization. Granted, it was a mix of weed and anxiety meds that triggered it (essentially a kind of xanax that doctors say NEVER mix with other substances). It can range from amusing to frustrating to scary feeling like your life isn’t real, but most days I take it in stride. It helps me treat life like a video game and do things for the hell of it, because what kind of game would it be if you just plateaued and didn’t do anything the whole time? Don’t know if others have experienced this for a long time, this started over a year ago for me.

I really appreciate you taking the time to talk about the downsides marijuana, not in a "be scared drugs bad" sort of way but in a very objective, informational manner.
Weed makes me paranoid and I've even had a panic attack because of it, something that almost NEVER happens in my regular, daily life. When I bring this up with weed smokers, even friends and family, it's not uncommon for them to tell me I just smoked the wrong strain and I'll feel fantastic if I try a different kind. They won't acknowledge that it can effect people negatively. People just need to be more informed and acknowledge there are downsides to weed, however small, minor or rare they may be.

I quit smoking weed last month and before that, I tried dabbing for 2 weeks. Like 2 hits a day. Once I quit I had a weed anxiety attack and I couldn’t sleep at all until 7:30AM. I had major withdrawal symptoms. I couldn’t eat that much at all and I didn’t go out that much at all because of feeling anxious. I’m never smoking weed again. Plus it probably dropped my vitamins low because smoking weed makes you feel full so i didn’t eat in the morning. I only ate at work because I worked in restaurant. Also you will get anxiety if you have withdrawal symptoms. The first 2 weeks were tough but it gets better around 4

God, that and the whole “marijuana isn’t addictive” nonsense. Yeah, it’s not chemically addictive in the same sense as heroin, but it’s insanely habitual. Most people who smoke weed do it all the time because they miss the high, sounds addictive to me. This is coming from someone who does it sometimes but turns down the offer more often than not

    • @Crisjola

Have you ever had that argument with people (irl or on YT doesn't really matter) where they say that and you fire back with "yeah, and so is Opium and look at where that got us" and wow do they _not_ like that.
Like I'm all for legalizing almost anything as long as A) people are held accountable for it, B) I'm not held accountable for someone else's incredibly foolhardy choices, and C) there are regulations on what is being sold (because things like Coke makes people ((usually)) violent and etc) so no one can cut in dangerous products to get someone to buy a more addictive substance. Basically it's like "you can buy a soda at a liquor store without having to buy any liquor nor are you pressured to buy liquor from said store" if everything is on the table, that's the (from a consumer pov) safest way to do things. How all of that will be taxted… who knows.
But I do enjoy whenever people bring up that weed is better "because it's natural" but freak the hell out when I like… talk about taking vitamins as a thing I do. 🙄 Also I know more than a few people who 100% think they know what they're doing with mushrooms and... holy hell I'm not a chemist and I value my own sanity so if I get near anything that is "natural" (when did this become such a huge defense of marijuana anyway? It's been an argument I've had since college in 2010) it's going to be exactly as far as weed and not step into things that can absolutely permanently eff with my brain chemistry. Why people who _aren't_ chemistry degree havers, or worse, _who flunked_ those classes think they can microdoes… why? Why do they think that's safe?? Who lied to them?

Also, I definitely suffered from emotional addiction to pot when I was younger. If you took all the diagnostic criteria I met and switch weed with alcohol I’d have been an alcoholic. I lost my job and almost got kicked out of my parents house because I couldn’t stop smoking. Obviously I wasn’t physically compelled to smoke but I wanted to continue even when faced with the near certainty of these consequences. I had no sense of moderation either, so a quick toke at midnight before a 7:30 shift in the morning turned into a 30 minute session and staying up till 3am eating junk food. That said, I have no issues with smoking pot now, so my emotional addiction could’ve been mostly attributed to my young age, immaturity, and mental health factors. It still had a big impact on my life, regardless of the reason. Threw me off track for several years before I got it together.

Great video as always drift. What really resonated with me is the iq lowering aspect. I’m in my early 20s and have been smoking pretty heavily since I was 17. So I get the dulling effects of both the use at a young age and heavy dosage. This sounds like I should stop, and that’s probably true. But the problem is, it’s the only thing that even slightly helps with my depression. I was even able to acquire a medical card for this reason. Before trying weed I’ve went through multiple different antidepressants and therapists that just did nothing or worse. So unfortunately it feels like I’m stuck in a sort of catch 22 where I have to either live my life walking around dead inside where I don’t enjoy anything, or hit dabs all day to be happy at the cost of my long-term logical thinking and lung health. I mainly stick to dab carts these days with the occasional joint, and I can feel the effects it has on my lungs (throat is sore/wet sometimes; coughing). I’d do edibles but unfortunately they have no effect on me. Not quite sure why I typed all this out, just wanted to get it out there and hopefully you or someone else might see it. Keep up the good work man.

I'm emotionally dependent on Delta 8. It reduces my inhibitions, which is the only thing I have ever wanted in my life, and it got me out of suicide. I usually don't go any higher than 30mg since it just lowers my blood pressure and tires me out, but the 25mg pills I take on a regular basis really bring out the fun parts of my narcissism. I have gotten a lot of insights from my experiences with Delta 8 and it is low-key scary seeing the mental imagery symbolizing my cynical narcissism corrupting every innocent and pro-social idea I've ever had and making it look cool.
Spoke to the Devil a few times on this substance (played by Robert DeNiro, naturally) and his main points are:

I quit smoking Mary about 8 months ago but before that I was some sort of high for 99% of the past 8 years. We all can recognize its still fantastic, but I'm glad there's finally someone who both recognizes that there's still negative aspects about it AND has the platform to finally make that known to the smooth brains who automatically act aggressively to anyone saying that there are in fact unfortunate negative effects of consuming this beautiful plant.
Edit: The reason I stopped smoking it is exactly because of those negative impacts but I have a very unhealthy lifestyle and once I get that under control, I plan on resuming my use in moderation because it absolutely can cause a better quality of life mentally even with the unfortunate negatives.

I suffered from chs (cannabis hypermesis syndrome) and it's not a condition you get for a couple hours. It's a recurring issue that only goes away if you stop smoking for a few days, some people have forever, for every time they smoke, some people recover (as myself, for now) and can keep smoking after quitting for a few months. The vomiting is terrible, and can be fatal, only because you vomit up to 40 times a day, and obviously that will severely dehydrate you, which is why one of the symptoms of chs is kidney failure. The condition can be fatal, but it's not the weed that kills you, it's the dehydration from uncontrollable vomiting which leads to kidney failure. It's a long lasting syndrome, and there has been a "confirmed" death due to it that i am aware, i am not sure though, but I am glad you mentioned this, maybe some people will watch out on how much they smoke

I am a heavy user, or was for a few months and I can say without a doubt if your a child/teen or are a pregnant woman, don't smoke weed. Also depression...

As someone who used to have a drinking problem and quit years ago, I think its crazy that alcohol is legal and Marijuana is not. Like 95k people die a year in the US due to alcohol.

    • @noobbotgaming2173
      @noobbotgaming2173 2 ปีที่แล้ว

You can't base alcohol or the like on your own experience. Because your own experience isn't a good way to learn. I don't drink alcohol every day or even every week. I usually have 1-3 drinks each month. And no one in my immediate family drinks alcohol often. And there's only one person in my extended family who has an alcohol problem. I'm not alone in my alcohol consumption.
A lot of alcohol problems has to do with internal problems. Not the alcohol itself. It isn't inherently bad.

    • @Tool0GT92
      @Tool0GT92 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@noobbotgaming2173 Alcohol itself is literally poison for your body, there is definitely something wrong with it. And the big problem is society pushes it as something great and its completely engrained into social behavior. When people drink too much people cheer but in reality people are walking a road to destruction.

Honestly I didn’t know about half of these things! I didn’t start smoking heavily until two years in college but now it’s more of a once or twice a day type of thing. I will say though working out high or better yet smoking after a working out personally helps me with all the soreness that comes afterword. I even smoke before I dance because I feel like I “feel” the music more lol but I have experienced an increase in heart rate and the dreaming thing kinda blows. Weed tends to heighten my social anxiety, I don’t really know if this is due to paranoia or what. It also just makes it difficult to communicate with people, I’ll zone out halfway through someone’s sentence while I’m trying to analyze their facial expression to determine if they’re angry at me. I think my experiences with weed are a bit unique cause I’ve never heard someone have the same issues. Nowadays unless I’ve had a considerable amount of alcohol first, getting high isn’t a pleasant experience. Weed always heightens my inhibitions, so I need a lot of alcohol to balance that out.

    My side effects often include
    - loss of motor skills (unstopable shaking like im cold and stuttering for 10min to an hour)
    - irritability &
    - feeling heavier anxiety when i dont smoke
    - cant sleep till 5am but will wake up at 9am to smoke more (my entire sleep cycle is FUBAR)
    - irrated lungs
    - waking up with a minor acidic pain like feeling in my stomach
At this point i smoke more cause i need to than i want to. I often find myself hating to smoke weed but at the same time know i cant survive/function without it. I just turned 21 in February, and theres still lots of things i like to do but cant cause i either have to go smoke for 3 hours or i dont want to ruin my high that took 2 hours but will only last 20 minutes.

I agree with most of what you said besides the part where you said it doesn't make you a better athlete . Now in some sports I might agree but for combat sports thc is good for the recovery process and during the combat itself it makes you more limber there are many sports that thc and cbd are a benefit.
I was a long time athlete and stoner starting at the end of highschool. I was definitely one of the people who thought I could smoke as much pot as I wanted to and nothing would happen to me this lead to many other drugs the people you may not have hung around before weed all of a sudden seemed like the people I wanted to hang out with ,. This was a gradual slippery slope that I didn't realize was happening . By the time I got out of this state of being perma-Stoned it was 5 years later and had to check into a mental ward due to suicidal ideology. Now this is not weeds fault it's the other things I found along the way . I know many people who can control themselves when talking about illicit substances. I am one who can't and takes things to the extremes I loved weed and everything about it. If I can give whoever reads this one piece of advice. It will be pretty simple.. "once it gets to a point where the moment you wake up you reach for a bong before a glass of water" you need to carefully evaluate if you are using it as a crutch to get by in life.
As far as laced weed most dealers are not going to waste money on lacing weed with drugs I think it's much more likely to have messed up weed from contaminated soil or improper storage

Baclophen is a weird one-lots of people here in the States like to prescribe it as an alternative muscle relaxant (as if it wasn't more or less addictive/causes less falls etc than the other non-opioid muscle relaxants) and yet, for me, personally, I react really poorly to it. It's more in a "I'm allergic to this" kind of thing (because I get sick in a similar way to antibiotics I'm allergic to and it's mostly my body trying to get whatever it is out of me) but my body full on rebels. That being said, there are a lot of muscle relaxants/medications that were for X thing (like seizures) that were discovered to be good anti-spasm medications that absolutely cause an uptick in self harm/death (which makes sense, I suppose, that something like Neurotin can cause that, since it's first discovery was to stop seizures). Honestly if you read the back of the box of anything that legally has to put it there (so afaik a vitamin company doesn't have to list the negatives of valerian root) something like Ibuprofen (Advil) sounds like it'll turn your insides inside out when we've all probably taken some Advil when we've gotten hurt and needed to reduce swelling-assuming nothing else we take conflicts with it.
There are a lot of medications that alter our brain's chemicals enough that it's unpleasant but not so badly that whomever is taking it ends up as part of that warning label. As far as Baclophen altering your state of mind… so does weed, just differently. I have friends who can't function because they are so used to having their emotions blunted from trauma (because why go to therapy and smoke weed when you can just smoke weed) that they can't get off of it without breaking down. :/ That we (as a species) haven't studied it enough to know how it might effect people who have gone through XYZ (such as people with PTSD) it makes it so people who smoke/take any amount of weed are doing it because it's "a natural remedy" as opposed to other prescribed medications that have been studied to know how it effects people. We don't have tons of research into weed because it's illegal to know how many people might have tried to kill/harm themselves or might have accidentally hurt themselves because of anxiety related attacks because it's not legal to study.

I am an ER nurse and the ER doctor was talking about cannibinoid hyperemesis one day. We had a patient that had this condition and we did not know it when he presented to the ER. We ran labs, asked health history, did a full work up. He never told us he smoked weed and after getting the lab results back, nothing came back abnormal. So the ER doc said I think I know his problem, cannibinoid hyperemesis. He stated 99% of the time, when there is no other diagnosis that can be explained by health history, lab results, or environmental factors, it is cannibinoid hyperemesis. It occurs almost exclusively in patients that are withdrawing from marijuana. I walked with the ER doc to the patient’s room and he was like, “Sir, keep it real with me. Are you withdrawing from weed?” And the guy proceeds to say he stopped cold turkey after a long period of use. There is no cure for it. Anti-emetics don’t help at all but the one and only thing that has been said to help is a HOT shower. The guy was discharged and called the ER back about 6hrs later and said after a couple hot showers he felt better
