@@RkSaha-gh5jv injuries depend on a lot of things. sometimes even the conditions you bowl in have an impact, express pace bowlers are always more injury prone than medium pace bowlers. you are right about genetics part. some bodies are fragile irrespective of whatever training you do but obviously steyn was not that fragile as he managed to play around 93 tests and many white ball games. the problem which happened with steyn was and is gonna be that even though he does swing the ball but it's his pace which is the main weapon. sometimes he swings the ball at high pace also. and after all his shoulder issues, his pace is gone. so even though he has'nt retired from t20s and ODIs, he kind of knows from inside that he is no more what he used to be. unoficially he is retired and it's just a matter of time that when he makes it official.

Very hard to say if Hadlee etc. would have performed against modern batsmen with their modern safety gear, superior bats and shorter boundaries. That being said even despite the huge advantage modern batsmen have, Steyn has been one of the quickest (if not the quickest) to many bowling milestones.
