This was the finale of 2 concerts 5/5/91 for Carnegie's 100 anniversary. Much of the concerts are also on TH-cam. Both concerts were the NYP with conducting shared by Mehta & Levine. It was supposed to be Mehta & Bernstein but as Bernstein died the fall of 90 they got Levine. Zubin made a speech dedicating this performance to Lenny. It was the end of a very long day & never to be forgotten.

Great job Al! Thanks for the clarification of the date of the concert. I hope all is well!
One of the most beautiful pieces of orchestration !! The whole symphony 3 has been one of my favorites for 40 years.
Thank you for sharing this glorious finale!
Thank you. No words.
The late great Roland Kohloff playing the timpani
The Phil's are fantastic in this performance (Smith and Meyers)!
🙏
wow
Was this in Carnegie Hall?
Yes it was.
And all the symphony?
No, I only was gifted the finale, maybe it was broadcast this way
@@jtubaI saw it when it aired and never thought I’d hear it again. They only did the finale. Thanks for sharing!
I find this guy quite superfluous and overrated.
