All you really need is Netflix and sling TV.
Step 1. Call your service provider requesting to cancel your cable service and only keep the internet. (I would recommend upgrading your internet plan)
Step 2. Buy a streaming device such as Chrome Cast, ROKU, or APP TV. If you have a gaming console (PS4/XBOX1) or smart TV buying a device Is not necessary.
Step 3. Select your services, I recommend Sling TV and Netflix (50 to 60$ dollars a month) but Hulu and Direct TV now are good options.
Step 4. Save money and ask yourself why you didn't do this earlier.

I can't believe you left out the very best option for streaming Tv PlayStation Vue. It is hands down the best way to stream Tv. You get all the channels you get with Sling Tv plus 35 more channels Plus a Cloud based DVR Plus a tv guide all for a mere $9.00 more then Sling.

Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately the video was running long so we had to limit the amount of information and options we mentioned, while still presenting the basic idea of cordcutting.

Cutting the cord is very expensive. I know now why cable is so expensive.

    • @AGreaterAmerica
      @AGreaterAmerica 4 ปีที่แล้ว

"Cutting the cord" is NOT expensive. I spent $685 for EVERYTHING I needed; a one-time-expense:
      1. large outdoor antenna = $200
      2. pre-amp - $65
      3. 100' coax = $20
      4. powered 4-way splitter = $35
      5. 4-channel DVR - $230
      6. 2 high-speed desktop switches = $30
      7. 3 4K Fire Sticks = $75
      7. extra 9' mast = $30
My cable TV bill was about $130/mo. I have added PHILO TV app to add the balance of channels I want @$20/mo. So, after less than 7 months, I'm saving $110 a month. So, I just put all of the items on a separate credit card and paid $110 a month on that card. It was a new card, so I had no interest for the first 6 months. That's NOT expensive. That IS a GREAT savings. Just saying...

$64/Month? SHoot I'd be better off just getting cable because my internet is about $80/Mo. with taxes, so I'd be spending more then. Doesnt seem worth it. Plus I get 2GB of data usage per month,so I'd have overage charges too. YIKES!

I want that someone start a 4k low cost all local and national satellite tv service at let's say 15$ per month. What the Chinese or wall street investors are waiting for ??? Today's digital technology is very performing and cost next to nothing. It cost just a few million dollars to construct and install such a satellite with thousands of tv and radio channels. The customer have just to install a fifty dollar tv antenna and adapted tv box to his tv. Im ready to watch free Chinese tv programs and learn this language and even ditch my hdtv local antenna because there is no music anymore on tv and too much fake news anyway against rock and roll that have been replaced by distorted music made by electronic programmers and dj's.

Good information. Have you considered mentioning subscription-free DVRs like the Channel Master DVR+, the Philips HDR5710/F7 or the forthcoming Magnavox DVRs (MDR877H/F7 ($400), TB560HP/F7 ($450), and TB560HS/F7 ($500))?
I think that having the option to record your OTA programming for later viewing is worth a discussion.

Finally, a Great cord cutter vid! So many of these "how to" vids gloss over what is needed and only talk about the apps, games or features. I mean, who the hell cares about watching movies on your iPhone? It's like watching a how to for rebuilding a car engine and all they talk about are the options that you can get for the engine instead of showing the steps for actually rebuilding it.

I am so tired of Optimum, I was paying $95.00 for basic cable and internet service then about a month ago $110. This month when i saw the bill it was $119. I called them but the rep I spoke with was unable to help me. Not her fault I know. I am a 71yr old on a fixed income, I don't know what to do but this video will help me decide. Thank you.

Don’t buy s “smart” tv. It’s far less expensive to upgrade a roku/firestick/etc every few years. As developers add updated channels these slowly start needing faster processing speed. Example, playing youtube on a 1st gen Roku stick is near impossible vs near instant loading with the current stick. Another plus, you can take streaming players on the road (handy during a hospital stay too!).

I just ran several speedtest with my Comcast account and got 179. I guess I'm good to cut the cord. Oh wait, I did that over two years with my OTA, Netflix and Amazon Prime. Life's never been better, except for not having a TV Guide and recording shows. But, my TIVo is on the way and should be here this week. Sometimes it pays to live in Houston, TX. Sometimes....

BY far the BEST PERFORMANCE this narrator gets a 10X from ME! By far the BEST Overview regarding the COMPLEX System of CORDCUTTING---a good starting point is to evaluate how you use your viewing network, what shows matter most to you, is budget really an issue if in fact you have to monkey around with all the "additional services" just to watch a simple show or is budget really a tie breaker if in fact your shows are NOT available through a streaming service? BOTTOM LINE you may be "cutting the cord" PHYSICALLY on a SINGLE Cable NETWORK---HOWEVER---you could be "INCREASING" the complexity of your viewing network if you decide to ADD multiple streaming services. I am not convinced streaming would be the best system for me considering my shows are largely NEWS, MSNBC, Bloomberg & BBC. Good LUCK

I got rid of DIRECTV last year. I now have an Amazon Fire TV Recast. Last October I upgraded my Fire TV to their fire TV stick 4K. The Fire TV Recast picks up more channels than my own TV. I highly recommend these 2 products. I also have HULU and Netflix. Netflix and Hulu also have VR apps.

  • @jgehbinv

I have a smart tv. So for live sporting events on channels like ESPN, I would need high speed internet and a live streaming tv option such as Sling TV, Direct TV, etc, correct? For other channels like AMC, TCM, HGTV, the same would hold true? I have a verizon fios router sitting next to my smart tv. So with that router I could either go wireless or physically connect it to my tv when cutting the cord? For stations like CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX, I would need an antenna??? And when it comes to cost, you have to pay for your steaming option PLUS your high internet service, right?

DVR for over the air t.v does exist.
YOUTube tv has unlimited dvr. Its $40 per month. The video failed to.mention you can divide the cost of some services with other people. Also, you can cherry pick how long you want to use a service. For example, if you like Game of thrones and just that show then you can pay for HBO for the months the show airs ans no more.

WHAT! You still have to have the "cable", or the overpriced YOUVerse from AT&T (just another type of cable). And THEN, you have to pay for the service subscriptions. I'm must not understand the audience you are trying to reach, but my YOUVerse is $80 per month providing an anemic 6M per second. It's all that's available where we are, so you can imagine how much I would like a cable internet. 100M per sec. at $40 per month. Oh, don't even try to suggest a wonky, unreliable cellular system!

The best way to CTC is with Kodi which can be put on most computers and android devices.
There is a huge amount of tutorials and blogs to show you how to install configure and use kodi.
I have it installed on my android TV Computer and my phone.
The best bit about Kodi is that it is 100% free, just google kodi or if you are putting it on an android device download from google play.
