Hi Friends! I wanted to simply share encouragement that I'm right along with you as a homestead dreamer. Hang in there and learn all you can while in your waiting room. If you haven't already, check out my series on how to homestead without land: tinyurl.com/jje8t3ku. Take good care, xoxo Cassandra
Please continue to follow your dreams. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord ❤. Your testimony is sooooo similar to my own. Your testimony confirms my journey and purpose. Thank you for your obedience 😊
Wasn’t the entire video just the best unfolding?! Whew, I had even more snot and tears than what you saw here. Jess and Miah are everything! We can all be encouraged to say yea to our farm dreams in a small space and in your spare time. And, it’s so great to see you and your hubby and others just start! So good to see you!
Very insightful and inspiring “God has given you an original storyline and the way it will unfold is as much about your journey as it is about the destination”
Thank you so much Lily! I wrote that very line in my journal and knew it wasn’t meant just to encourage me! The value of our daily unfolding storyline is so precious! Thanks for stopping by!
Jess and Miah are AMAZING!!! Wasn’t the reveal just EVERYTHING?!! I’ve been on an emotional high since the premiere and following their story! Thanks so much, Kult Goddess!
I absolutely love your channel, I’m so happy I found it! And I have to say it brings me so much joy to see another Black woman sharing the same dreams that I have. I will definitely be supporting and following your journey💕✨
Hi Java! It’s so nice to meet you! Thank you for saying hello! No, you are not alone AT ALL! Are you also into canning? A city grower? Your sweet words are so encouraging ;)
Hi Brenda! You’re not alone as a homestead dreamer! Every small step you take matters and will build your confidence! Keep becoming a farm girl, and, thanks for saying hello!
I love your passion and how you yearn for the homestead life. I moved into this old homestead two years ago when I retired and have spent the last two years fixing it up. I’m finally done and now I can focus on the garden and making it beautiful. I am getting teary thinking about this. I learned all the skills, Iike you, way before I moved up here. One acre with honey bees, a small orchard, and garden beds. New raised beds are going in in the spring for my vegetables. I will build them myself because I can❤ You don’t need a massive amount of acreage. You will get there soon enough. Keep building those skills. Canning, sewing, knitting, crocheting….etc. Are you sick of me yet? 😂
I enjoyed your video & decided to subscribe! You will be more than prepared for when you get land! I 🙏🏾 God will give you the desires of your heart. (Ps. 37:4)
Hello Vera! Apologies for the delayed response, for some reason your comment went to my spam folder. I can’t begin to share how healing, freeing and restorative this journey has been. While I’ll realistically need to continue living in my townhome for a few more years, God is good in that I’m so content with just learning and growing on a small scale. Thank you for the encouragement!!
Hey Ashley! Your channel is also so encouraging at sharing how to shift your perspective of what a “homestead(er) “looks” like. And, watching the beautiful friendship you have with Jill and your time together at Whispering Willowing Farm was just EVERYTHING! So good to “see” you!
Hello! Yes! It’s 100% authentic! Wins (and lessons, not losses). You can have and appreciate the good life even when you haven’t “arrived@ at your final destination. Life is in the journey!
I am soooo adicted to watching your channel! The beauty of homesteading is endless! Thanks for the reminder to being grateful for what i have, instead of focusing on what I don't have! Our time will come!
*Hug* totally accepted and appreciated 😄 By far the best part of stepping outside of my comfort zone to share videos is that I get to meet and feel connected to others on very similar paths! Blessings on your week!
I started crying within minutes of watching. Especially because you are sharing as someone who doesn’t yet have your homestead but isn’t letting that stop you. I’m at ground zero and I know almost nothing. But this dream is heavily on my heart. Thank you for this beautiful video and encouragement. ❤️ Yes I’m becoming a farm girl!
Hello Lisa, it’s so wonderful to meet a kindred spirit! I completely connect with your sense in “knowing” that a homestead life calls to you, but the transition will be one of “grafting” yourself in. I cannot tell you how (crazy) I felt at first, but how quickly that gave away to confirmation that that a more handmade, farm style life was what spoke to my soul, creativity and personality on a deep level smugly because I started taking small action. Girl, you can (and will) do this! You have blessed and encouraged me because for a while I have thought I can’t be the only one with her feet on both sides if the grass (working full time in the city) but truly is a country gal at heart. There are sooo many skills to learn that don’t require land or livestock and, even maintaining a small garden can teach you soo much. To be sure, I’m not an expert, I’m learning from books, videos, seminars and others but “finding” YOU and others that are becoming farm girls is my “why”! More encouragement, recipes and small scale homestead tips are coming! Keep your dream alive, it WILL come to pass!
Hi Farmer Nurse! Yes! It’s so true. The process of unfolding and becoming isn’t valued or affirmed enough. Preference seems to be given to those with quick/rapid results. I’m almost certain that in many cases (or at least those that reason are with me the most) it’s the journey over time. It’s going against the cultural grain of saying “I’m going to start with what I have now” and not feel silly/doubtful about that choice. I’m so happy for your container garden on your patio! What are you growing?! 😀🌱😀🌱😀🌱
Hello again Auntie’s Garden! Thank you so much! I believe everything will unfold at the right time. In kind I’m praying for the desires of your heart too!
Your video popped on my feed. So glad to have found a person of color doing this. I am inspired to get my gardens up and growing. What an inspiration you are.
The intensity of watching that video took me through a range of emotions! All of them good but, whew, I was so, so, so happy for them and, I can’t believe I didn’t figure out it would be Jill! Each of them has there perfect homestead and, whew...when you just stay the course and allow God to work, it’ll work out! Thanks for sharing! 😁
I am in my waiting room, too. Your story has brought me so much joy and a new perspective on my situation. I will be using this time to study and learn new skills, as well. Getting closer to my dreams everyday is so exciting and helping make the waiting time bearable. Thank you so much for sharing your journey and showing what's possible without having it all yet. 💖
Wasn’t the reveal on both on their channels EVERYTHING? Yes, Thor is my ever constant shadow (like your pup and little one). We all need encouragement but I’m truly encouraged by what your doing too! And, I know you agree that leaning into your dream and using what you have where you are is worth it while you wait! Good to cya girl!
Hello Chioma’s Charm! I appreciate your comment so much and while this video isn’t a tutorial like most of what I share I couldn’t shake not sharing this because it’s truly the “why” behind what I’m doing. Your reply encourages me even more because other than my family I don’t have access to others that really, really understand what I do. Here’s to staying sticking with our dreams! ☺️
Amy! It’s always so good to see you. Oh wow! Admittedly, I was a bit more personal on this video, and from time to time I’d like to be to round out my more technical videos. Plus, it’s truly the premise behind what I’m sharing. It’s been so energizing meeting others (like you and me) that are/have been using small spaces to create a farm/homestead/more traditional etc. life and it’s a blessing and encouragement to me. While I’m excited about the small farm I’ll have one day, I’m also very content even now! I want others to know there is joy in just starting, learning and growing along the way! And yes, like you my evening canning projects are the highlight of my weeknights!
Hello, Melissa! Friend, you are truly not alone! A dream can be both exciting and heavy to hold, but the waiting room period can be experienced with joy and gratitude. Thank you for stopping by and, in kind, your encouraging words to me!
Hi Leigh! Dreams don’t have an age or expiration date. I am happy to share the ways I find encouragement, which include your kind words! I appreciate your encouragement!!
I have never been happier to find a channel! I’m currently living in a small apartment in NY with just my little indoor greenhouse and a balcony space :)
Here’s to balcony growers and kindred homestead hearts! It’s so nice to meet you as well, Melancolia Tropical! I assure you you’re not alone turning your waiting room into a classroom. Thanks for the kind words- I really appreciate it!!!!
Just stumbled across one of your videos! I just love you ❤. Your personality, your wisdom and knowledge. God Bless you pure soul! I will be watching every video 😊
Yesss, I love “Roots and Refuge” as well. I am so grateful that I came across your videos. You are so inspiring and knowledgeable about homesteading. Thanks so much for sharing and keeping the dream alive.
Hi Saran! Thank you for stopping to say hello! It’s so nice to meet you ;). I’m happy to share what I’ve learned and am learning along this journey! Jess and Miah are the best, right?
People are always amazed what I can do in such a small space. Don’t ever think you need a large space to do great things. Keep going you are on the right path!!
I couldn’t agree more, Sharen. The “operations” on my homestead truly keep me busy. And, based on the reading I’ve done, I can appreciate that a larger homestead is a lot of work. I have no problem growing into that and in fact it makes “the wait” even more satisfying because I have time/flexibility/ and will continue to build knowledge that will make the eventual transition right (not forced). While I’m a dreamer, I LOVE and appreciate what I have now. I’m on the balcony planting in my vertical grower now! So good to see you again! May I ask what you’ve canned recently? I’ve got a chutney video in the works!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl I was actually blessed with a bunch of fresh produce so I’ve been busy dehydrating! I also need to get a batch of sauerkraut going. I used to can at least 600 jars a season. At my age now it’s not that high. I’ve been working a lot in the garden since I made the space bigger. But everything will hit at once lol
@@sharenp3839 600 jars! Sharen, that’s awesome! My current inventory is probably around 500 jars but I’m only processing about 1/2 that (and with the lid shortage this year I don’t think I’ll be much more beyond that). Like you, I’m focusing more on fermenting this year than I have in the last to using the jars while lids are hard to find. I desperately need a second dehydrator this season! I’m holding out on a thrift find! Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!
I’m praying for God to show me His will. Don’t know if i have to move to another country to achieve this homestead dream. Right now i feel stuck. Thanks for your motivational video.
Hi Jennifer! Absolutely. In fact, I've had to remind myself of this sentiment quite a few times along this homesteading journey. Let your goal be progress, not perfection, and doing the most with where (and what) you have, will still give you loads of satisfaction. God will bring things to pass for you in HIS perfect timing and when he does, it'll be right and perfect for you. Plus, I'll be sitting in my waiting room for at least a few more years and am happy to keep you company! :)
Even though I'm a year late I definitely needed to see this right at this moment because I had given up hope. I see others already on their homesteads and I get a little sad I'm not there just yet but I feel it coming so I'm just preparing as best I can for that moment thank you for this 😢
Hi neighbor, I live in Washington DC. I'm very happy I found your channel. I love this video. I'm in the middle of preparing to transition to a new home and had to stop gardening. I'm going to miss the spring and summer growing season. I had such big plans. However, I was able to keep some garlic and one blueberry bush in contains. I'm focused on that and planning for the future garden whatever it my look like. Thanks for the encouragement.
Hi KSea! Yes, your a stones throw down the beltway! It’s so nice to “meet” you! A move during the summer/spring garden is tough, especially after a long winter. I’m so glad you’ll be able to save the garlic and blueberries as “natives” from your current location that you can hopefully take to your next. The gem in this move is that, as you mentioned it’ll give you some time to read and plan what you’ll do next year so it’s time spent preparing not waiting! Or maybe start a small indoor aeroponic herb garden? You know what’s practical as you in-between places. In the meanwhile, I’ll be praying that you stay encouraged! You may find yourself noticing or creating new routines/Interests. Thanks for saying hello! I’ll see you soon!
I just love your content. So inspiring. I’m house hunting and keep dreaming of what will be. I need to embrace where I am because the market is slow now. So much I could be learning. Like getting over my fear of pressure canning. I really need to learn to do this! ☺️💕
Hey AquaSeahorse Love! Good to see you again friend. Yes, while like you I can’t wait to move, I always realize that I have built confidence and skills over time in a way where I haven’t been too overwhelmed. I don’t want to force or rush on something as big as purchasing a piece of property. I was the exact same way when I started pressure canning but I’ve done a 180 on that. I want to get my thoughts collected and dedicate a video sharing how I “got over the hump/fear” of pressure canning to encourage more people to can. BUT, continue to focus on what you ARE doing and what you HAVE learned and realize you’ll get there in the timing that’s right for you! Blessings on your day!
I am not sure if I can be a Farm Girl but Roots & Refuge sure make it look interesting. Also watching you make all those different items has me hooked now. Thank you
Hi Jenna! Thanks for saying hello! Yes, R&R has shared there journey in such a relatable personable way. I get your apprehension when it comes to naming yourself something which is why I’m taking the pressure off and focus on the becoming part. I can make mistakes, learn and grow and that’s what it is all about! Blessings on your week!
Hi Robyn! First-thank you for stopping by and saying hello. I can completely understand the heaviness you're feeling about not being able to having chickens--I'm in the same boat, BUT, my HOA has approved for me to keep a maximum of 3 quail outdoors. Quail will still give you eggs (or meat) and can even be kept indoors. This may be an option for you as well. You may be interested in my (admittedly lengthy) but similarly candid talk about my small townhouse homestead goals in my New Years goals video. The important thing is that there are still so many other projects you can tackle, or expose yourself to along the journey. Both of our dreams will come to pass, so let's have fun creating the story line! Are you able to do any form of gardening?
I think Jess and Jeremiah had us all up in our feels! I can't wait to see what your future homestead will be like, but you are doing wonderful and beautiful things where you are. Keep encouraging others.
Thanks, Alicia. I went into the video series expecting to just be purely excited, but yes, wwwhew, the unfolding had me so emotional (yikes, I didn't even have a tissue nearby when the tears and snot started to come out-lol). Absolutely, I'm chipping away at what feels like massive dream bit by bit--and that's exactly how you start to build momentum. Thanks, girl!
I learned to can and garden years ago. I never wanted to do it as al lifestyle. Now I have a non-gardening, non chicken raising husband and daughter. I am starting a raised bed garden this year and will build on it yearly. I will get back to canning, making breads, and sewing asap. I have a body draining autoimmune disease and I have let it slow me down so much. Not anymore. I'm tired of it. I love your channel!
Hi Paula! This is such a heartfelt message. Isn't it strange how sometimes we come back to things full circle? I'm so excited to hear you're returning to the garden, canning and sewing. As you do, remember that its about progress...not perfection. There are still many skills I want to learn that are on the back burner due to time, etc (sewing, for one) but the things I can do bring me so much joy. I hope that this will be a comfort to you as you navigate your health condition (prayin' for ya, sis). I'm so glad to encourage you--we all need it from time to time. You've got this.
Hi Mary! Yes, the work around my little townhome keeps me busy enough and is very satisfying. I love having time to learn and experiment in a small scale before I move into something else. I’m trying to get our neighborhood HOA to approve quail so I can raise a few. They are the perfect alternative to chickens!! I’m certain I’ll go with coturnix vs bobwhite. Is that what you had? Thank you for your kind words!
Absolutely, Laura! Joy can be found along the journey to your farm dream. Small starts and actions have immense satisfaction too! Keep becoming a farm girl 😀
Hi Catherine! Oh wow! I’m glad it’s helpful ;) I’m certainly not an expert and I’ve got a lot of my own learning to do, but I’m happy to share and encourage. We all need that. Are you into canning too?
@@BecomingaFarmGirl yes. I learned many years ago. Started again and looking forward to trying new recipes. I love your onion ones. I can't wait to try them. Did I understand in your bio you're a teacher?
Very inspirational words loved it! I am subscribe to roots and refuge but I haven’t watched a lot of their videos lately. I noticed that you discarded the water that you cooked the chickpeas in. Are you familiar with aquafaba? I’m not sure if it would be useful to you but it can do amazing things and is a great alternative to dairy related things.
Whhhhaaat? I had not! From your comment I did a quick Google search and I’m am so interested in this! THANK YOU I M! It’s so nice to have genuine ppl like you to share our tips back and forth! I can wait to try making scrambled eggs or whipped topping with it ;)
Hey apron twin! I love it because the pockets are deep, the fabric is comfortable and wearing an apron is very practical and I dunno, kinda sets them stage for the “work” I do around the house. Keep dreaming!
Wow! Love the video and the energy. Have typed in a combination of words to find a channel with someone on a similar journey but stumbled upon this on my recommendations. Instant sub.
Hello Clarissa! It’s so nice to e-meet you! You are totally not alone on your farm dream journey. Are you also on a City? Have you started canning? Container gardening? I take recommendations so feel free anytime to ask! Thanks for joining me! It’s so nice to meet others that are becoming farm girls!

Hello dangitbobby (love the name btw!) I don’t take your comment for granted and in fact it equally encourages me to know that others can take encouragement from a focus I’ve had to constantly remind myself! You are not crazy, not alone and yes, homesteading can start very, very small! Blessings on your day!
Thank you for the inspiration and encouragement for this amazing journey. Glad your podcast came up in my feed, as I binge watch, dehydrate, ferment, can and make something valuable out of the scraps along with you!! BTW, your worms look much happier than mine. I'll have to find that vid....
Hi Dinah! I love, LOVE using my scraps and there is nothing better than spending time in my kitchen doing exactly what you described, watching other homestead/gardening channels while bulking up the pantry! So lovely to meet you, Dinah!

Hello The Chronicles of Veronica! Whew, this has been a bit of a doozy for me too and to be honest, I'm still getting them where and when I can. My folks live several states away and will pick up cases when they see them for me. I've also been lucky to find some at Walmart, Ace Hardware and now Lowes and Home Depot carry them. I know that using Facebook Marketplace isn't for everyone, but I've sourced about 1/2 my inventory second hand this way. I sure do miss the good ol' days when jars and lids were plenty. I'll be praying some find your way soon!

Beautiful. Thank you for the encouragement and hope. ❤
You spoke right to the heart. Beautifully spoken.
Hello, Melissa! Friend, you are truly not alone! A dream can be both exciting and heavy to hold, but the waiting room period can be experienced with joy and gratitude. Thank you for stopping by and, in kind, your encouraging words to me!
This is so encouraging and inspiring. Thank you.
Intelligent beautiful woman with a vision.
@@BecomingaFarmGirl marketplace is also a great source for one. Yes lid shortages are a problem.
I’m praying for God to show me His will. Don’t know if i have to move to another country to achieve this homestead dream. Right now i feel stuck. Thanks for your motivational video.
You don't know how much I need to hear this, thank you
Hi Jennifer! :)
Thank you Cassandra. I new when I fell on this page I know it was not by accident.
I so appreciate you… You’re very encouraging and upbeat and gives me hope!❤
Anytime, Donna! You’ve got this! 😀❤️
Great video, stay on the journey you will be there.
You came across my path in such a divine timing way. Beautiful inspiration.
Hello Adrianne! God is so good! Thank you for saying hello! You've got this! Don't quit your day dream!!!!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl Aww thank you so much. You have the gift of encouragement. ☺️🤗
Very inspirational!!! Thank you for sharing 💖
Thanks Cassandra I needed that encouragement. I just found out I can't have chickens in my rural subdivision. I was so disappointed. This helped. Thx
Your videos are so inspiring thank you so much for sharing
You are blessed!!!!
So glad you popped up in my feed sis! You are definitely my kind of person. I’ve subscribed, taking notes…keep pushing out the content!
Thank you sooo much for this encouragement 💖
Nice tip about the coffee ground.
Thanks! It totally works and is a great way to store them long term!
I needed to hear this message ❣️🙏
Inspirational as usual!
Hi Clory! I’m convinced it’s the best way to live life. So good to see you again! Have a blessed week, friend!
.this is so true I even had kept quail in a town house with a small yard keep going be blessed
Thank you for your kind words!
thank you so much for this reminder on this day....
Absolutely, Laura! Joy can be found along the journey to your farm dream. Small starts and actions have immense satisfaction too! Keep becoming a farm girl 😀
love the encouragement
I'm so excited to have your channel! Your content is amazing. Thanks so much for sharing!!!
I can wait to try making scrambled eggs or whipped topping with it ;)
Very nice video, beautifully filmed. Nice words.
Your kindness is so appreciated. We all, need encouragement along the way!
Just love your videos!!!
I have that same striped apron and it’s my FAVORITE! 🥰
Hey apron twin! I love it because the pockets are deep, the fabric is comfortable and wearing an apron is very practical and I dunno, kinda sets them stage for the “work” I do around the house. Keep dreaming!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl totally agree!! I have so many aprons but I always reach for that one first 💗 thanks for inspiring us!
Beautiful, patience is a virtue! You will be well prepared for what is to come! We all have a Journey and I’m so happy you decided to share yours with us🙏🏾
Well hello and thank you dear friend! Couldn’t agree more! The journey is the u flooding of your dream. Every moment of life is so precious. Good to “see” you!!!
Just leaving some love bc this video put so much joy & inspiration in my heart, thank you so much. Hope you’re doing well 💚💚💚
Hello dangitbobby (love the name btw!) I don’t take your comment for granted and in fact it equally encourages me to know that others can take encouragement from a focus I’ve had to constantly remind myself!
This is great.
This is so inspiring!!! YOU are so inspiring!!😍 I'm enjoying my RV living journey while anticipating my one day homestead!! So happy I found your channel!🥰
Hello Cool Mom and Collected (love the name) We are kindred homestead dreamers on a journey that’ll (physically) start small but build in skills, confidence and joy along the way. Thank you for saying hello! It’s so nice to hear and learn how other farm girls are grafting themselves into this lifestyle! Blessings to you!

Hello Pastor! Couldn't agree more! The homesteading community on YT is filled with so many wonderful folks (case in point you and your family, too)! I am excited to try your wife's Dr. Pepper Kombucha recipe (among several others). Thank you for stopping by and saying hello!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl thank you so much for your kind words, we hope to see more of you on here as well as get to know one another better through our channels. GOD Bless You!! Hi, loving your videos! What are the full titles of the books you showed
To happy to find this Channel!! I feel that youre speaking the words of my heart ❤️ only I'm in the beginning of my journey which I'm ok with! So much to learn from you :)
So first question. I don't drink coffee..but I do drink tea...can I use used tea leaves?
Farm Girls!!
Yes! We can do it!
New sub ..loving your content
Hello Melinda! Thank you! It’s so nice to meet others that are becoming farm girls!!
Where do you get your canning supplies? My local stores are running out of some of the jars and lids.
Thor!
Yes! Thor is protector of the homestead!
And farm boys lol
