    You would think would go more in to detail on such a flagship Hallberg Rassy, annoying music , and some close ups on wood work and chairs? love to see a more technical review , engine room, actual sail handling, galley use, etc. not just a history of HR and armchair joinery chat

    Oh no I mean in the Halyards. The Spinnaker halyard is usually spliced but HR put a riggers knot in the ones that I have seen on various HR boats.

    Hey SYScottiey, if you're referring to the hitch in the end of the main sheet, go ahead and splice yours. I prefer to 'end for end' my main sheet annually.
    As far as your wanting to know the sailing characteristics of the 64', if you've sailed another Hallberg Rassy, you'll know what to expect, the same only bigger.Thankfully, Hallberg Rassy build 'evolutionary' yachts, not 'revolutionary' ones.

    I feel like she left something important out. In the beginning of the video she said "provided all the systems are working it's a real treat to sail". Seems like she wouldn't have put it that way had she not and undue problems with the thing.

    It's not exactly news that Hallberg Rassy make good boats. The problem with them, is the price, expect twice the price over a German or French boat. I also would prefer the 55 over the 64, as the 64 can't go under the fixed bridges in Göta Älv in Sweden, wich means I couldn't get it home..

    i thing about so called innovation, is that if given enough money anyone would focus and give their entire attention to the project. Thats why progress is actually slow, cuz people won't do much without money and that is the problem with our world economy. feel me?

  • @GrumpyOldMan9
    @GrumpyOldMan9 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why does she use "horsepower" for the engine and "kilo watt" for the generator?

    • @seawalcker
      @seawalcker 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +TavernSenses Because there is no "horsepower" that comes out of the socket but watts and kilowatts ;-) means horsepower is used to denote the power of a combustion engine and watts stands for the power of electricity. In the broadest sense.

    • @paulmerron3947
      @paulmerron3947 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Because we want to know how much power the engine has to push the boat through the water. What we want to know about the generator is how much electrical power it produces to charge our batteries. There would be little point in telling us the horsepower of the generator, what would we do with that information.

    • @herranton
      @herranton 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      seawalcker In some places in the world (Australia and New Zealand), they rate engines in kilowatts, not horsepower. The term horsepower actually means 746 (750)watts. Horsepower and wattage are measures of the same thing, just with different scales. It would be no different than her saying it is 17 degrees Celsius outside but 73 degrees Fahrenheit inside. Or, the boat is 64 feet long with a 2 meter draft. Or, put the gallon of milk and the 2 liter of coke in the refrigerator.
      Most people just think of horsepower as the force that pushes a vehicle around, but there is nothing incorrect about measuring power coming out of an outlet in horsepower or measuring power that pushes a car in watts. It just sounds weird, unless your Australian.

    • @marlo2303
      @marlo2303 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have not heard a single person in NZ say they have 5 kw yamaha outboard or yanmar 55 kw on the yacht
      Manufacturers are required to use watts since it's a standard adopted by almost entire world but they still put both kw and HP in documentation. So does Haalberg Rassy - Sweden is on a metric system too, like most sane nations.

    • @herranton

    "...Provided the systems are all-working" (1:10), carve that on your headstone over an empty-grave.
    Actually I like the boat and the layout, other than the helm-station. It's inaccessible without climbing over the seats and around that enormous Destroyer-wheel. In rough-weather you should be able to *walk* to the helm, not climb". And what happens when the cockpit enclosure it up?

      André Those are fair points that the OP brought up. Not sure what your point is though. Why post a link to a similarly crappy “test” video of a smaller vessel from the same builder? To show us that the design language is the same across the line? That still doesn’t speak to what he was asking. Why not directly address his points and questions instead of making arrogant and snarky reply posts?

      Clive Cooper ,we lived aboard sailing our vessel (charter hauled by contract) light cargo intraisland throughout the Bahamas and Caribbean on our 64' Ketch rig (lwl) for many a year, hundreds of passages, thousands of sea miles throughout the 10 years we lived the dream that began when I watched "Adventures in Paradise" and the Schooner Tiki. There's nothing quiet like sailing a double-planked displacement hull Ketch that is not to enjoy even when we used muscle and sinew to power our winches and a sextent a time or three.

    None of you twats have the money to buy the yacht making the music or depth of content irrelevant. The style and price are reserved for those who do not work. In other words, wealth is determined by how much free time you have. This is not to be confused with sitting on the toilet tweeting nor complaining about what others have ie., lust.

    Ha, ha... I would purchase an RH64, just because of the delightful female in their advertisements! She's one terrific saleswoman. In other words, she relates to the everyday struggles of sailboat existence, as well as to the everyday delights of sailboating. Note to Senior HR management: "Articulate more sailboat purchase dialog and commentary from the girlfriend - significant other - and wife, than from the dreary and terribly misleading commissioned male broker - boyfriend - significant other - and husband". Male spousing advertising sailboat advantages, capabilities, market-edge and sail plans is stale, tired and so 1970's type of tripe and nonsense sail lingo. Whilst the feminine delivered advertising copy is clear, pointed, and justly points out advantages and disadvantages within the total particular sailing vehicle package. Also, look to the HR sailboat advertising copywriters. Apparently they have absolutely no perception or comprehension of today's multi sailboat marketing venues.

    This is not a review of a sailboat; it's a review of an apartment. Yachting World, you should be ashamed of yourself. Focusing on armchairs and joinery is exactly what a prospective owner would be interested in who does NOT know how to sail. Elaine, you don't talk at all about what it's like to sail a HR64! Did you even take a turn at the wheel? In every exterior shot you're in, the boat isn't moving. I'd like to hear from the professional crew that sailed her...
