This is the perfect 'blue water' yacht - for crossing oceans safely and in comfort! This weekend I visited Ellös, Sweden where they are built and I was impressed by the incredible attention to detail thru the entire yachts. These are built to sail with a family crew but also for the ease of maintenance. Every part that needs servicing - you can reach without having professionals cut the boat open.
Wonderful boat. The saloon is gorgeous. Amazing comfort in the master cabin with all those seating options. I wouldn't mind spending foul weather days inside. Another great walkthrough. Thank you so much for showing.
What a great yacht. Allows for less crew/less experience/less danger to operate. Love the little barriers either side of the main bed to stop you falling out, when sleeping in weather. I may put them round my bed to help on a Saturday night 😬
Sailing Uma an other youtube chanel in front of the yacht.. @4:57.. Neat! Good chanel aswell! As always, thanks for the great video, always nice to dream away and watching your videos!
What a nice boat Nick. While I prefer motor yachts overall, this would such a relaxing way to spend a week or two around the Med. It had a bigger engine than I was expecting too. Your enthusiasm is becoming contagious :)
Really nice boat. Really like lounge area down below deck. Very comfortable seating. Very nice pilot stations and that cold out rear deck is just to cool. Great use of space.

Hurrah for a sailing yacht. I get a sense of peace with these boats that I don't get with moter boats. I'm amazed to see those buttons that sort the sails out
Sailing yacht tour done by a pro: Love it. I usually watch "Aquaholic" for the power yachts but I watch "learning the lines" for sailing, still Aquaholic offers the best over all tour!
Saw this boat at the Düsseldorf Boat Show in Germany this year. The first boat I made a B-Line to. Absolutely beautifully built. What you couldn't show in the short time you had is the build quality. She is so finely crafted which is why HR are a premium brand. I compared her to an Oyster yacht, and although I'm English, as is Oyster, the HR is in a league of it's own and leaves the Oyster in the shadows. You can order this with a hard top instead of the canvas biminy, which offers much more comfort and protection. If you ever have the opportunity, visit Amel in France and check out their 60 footer. If I were buying, the choice would be between these two yachts, the HR 57 and the Amel 60 👍
Well Nick,if you make a video tour of a motor yacht, boat and or ship,or over this very nice sailing boat/yacht,you always make my day and make me feel very good.Cheers Nick, already looking forward to your next video. :) :)

Automated rigging is becoming much more common on higher end boats like this, but it seems that most other manufacturers are utilizing electric furling rather than hydraulic like this HR. I wonder which is better?

@@operator0 .. I totally agree. He produces such comprehensive videos of power boats, they are a joy to watch. I applaud him for expanding his horizons..
Boats are expensive and require a lot of maintenance, and sail boats are no exception. That being said, sail boats, ideally, don't put many hours on their engine. A typical diesel engine this size should be good for 7000 hours or so before it needs an overhaul. It could take 10 to 20 years to get to those numbers, depending on how much you use it. It's certainly true that this boat could do as many as two circumnavigations before the engine needs that kind of attention, which would be about 10 years at a leisurely cruising pace. Of course, there are other things to break on a sail boat. The sails, for one, will need replaced a few times before the engine does. Winches, navigation equipment, pumps, all the typical boat stuff. Remember though, the bigger the boat the more it's going to cost to fix. Many cruising sailors sail around the world on boats much, much smaller than this one. Think 34-38 foot. Those are very common sized sail boats to see cruising around the world. Once you get down to those sizes, the expenses drop dramatically. The comfort also drops, but the capability is generally still there. If you're interested to see how a couple sails on the cheap on a smaller boat, check out Sailing Uma on TH-cam. There are lots of other sailing vlogs on TH-cam as well, including a foursome that sail on a boat the size of this Hallberg-Rassy called Sailing SV Delos. There's even a guy sailing a 31 foot boat with NO MOTOR. His channel is called How To Sail Oceans and he has circumnavigated the world in that boat.
I live 10 min from there they build hallberg rassys. I was one of the first to see the hallberg rassy 57. Me and like 10 others :).. well almost everyday I see Magnus(the CEO) sailing by my house with his 57 :)
If doing long distance world sailing, range not an issue and the cost savings in fuel would pay for itself in a world trip... love the modern layout, powered solo controls. Great value.
Two things missing , the most important is zero water tight doors below as per AMEL also fixed davets for the run around a folding one on this price of yacht is not on. Would like just one centre wheel also .
The Hallberg Rassy is the Benchmark for Blue water ocean Going yachts. Magnus Rassy is also a very Cool person to meet and it shows how proud he is of his boats. This yacht can take it all. From the Brit living in southern California x
its all compromises. the HR 57 might not have the same protective center cockpit, but underway the interior space is much better suited for longer journeys than the Amel, in my opinion.
Kind of. It's not really a good garage as you have to deflate the dingy to fit it in there. There are other sail boats that do have a real, dedicated dingy garage, mostly on bigger boats, but there are a few boats this size that have them.
Nick I really love watching all your boat reviews... as a fan, could we possibly see more on affordable secondhand sub 40ft motorboats please...? most of us will never choose or be able to buy new, so looking at the every mans boat you see up and down the pontoons across the uk would be great... ie Swift Trawlers, Beneteau Antares, Nimbus Commanders/coupes, just the sort of stuff you see tied up that you can actually afford and consider upgrading too... but keep up the great work!
Happy to and have done, but they are ultimately never as popular, hence the emphasis on the top end of the market. However hang on in there, there are some very affordable boats planned.
Wasn’t being critical, absolutely love your boat OCD... really look forward to your videos! Would love to see you doing more actual boat test reviews like you’ve always done for MBM 😉👍
Great looking SV, Do she have an Electric motor option? After all, we are in 2019, it would be an oversight on Hallberg part, not to have a Fuel to Electric conversion available.
Halberg-Rassy are very traditional yacht builders. They have been around for a very long time and are well known in the sailing community for making well built, bullet proof boats. They don't like to experiment with new tech until it's been proven through many years of common use. If you want new/experimental tech you'll have to find another manufacturer.
operator0 I understand a traditional way of building SV's , However, Electric drive is far from experimental, Lagoon have been making electric catamaran since the early 2000's, furthermore all big cruse liners and military vessels are mostly Electric, and here in north america, anyone that owns a SV all want a hybrid generator electric motor drive. its about time that boat builders step up to the plate and start pushing technology forward. I can not afford a 1.400.000 euro SV, but if i would! it would have to be electric, lol i don't know about you, im am done with having smelling diesel fuel in a Sailboat.
@@patprop74 How many electric drive Lagoons have circumnavigated? Hell, how many electric drive Lagoons have they sold? There's no comparison between large, ocean going working boats and blue water sail boats. I would also like to see where you get your statistics about what the market desires in N. America. Are you making them up? If you want a boat builder that is going to advance technology, you need to consider other manufacturers. If you want a boat you can trust in force 10 gales, you need to consider a Halberg-Rassy. Incidentally, have you seen Sailing Uma's youtube channel? They sail an old 36 foot Pearson they retrofitted with all electric drive. There's a few smaller channels on youtube of other boats that have electric drive as well. Or, you could go really hard core and watch How to Sail Oceans. He sails a 31 foot gaff rig with NO motor. He's been around the world in it.
And this is why you’re doing so well Nick - you listen. People have been asking for a sail yacht on your channel and you have delivered! In style, might I add :-)

I'd love to see Oceanis Yacht 62

..and thank you from Jon Olsson!
😄
Two things missing , the most important is zero water tight doors below as per AMEL also fixed davets for the run around a folding one on this price of yacht is not on. Would like just one centre wheel also .
Is this model still being made ? Really like the aft cabin design. Need to win about 3 million Canadian dollars to buy one though....
The Hallberg Rassy is the Benchmark for Blue water ocean Going yachts. Magnus Rassy is also a very Cool person to meet and it shows how proud he is of his boats. This yacht can take it all. From the Brit living in southern California x
The cabin, kitchen lay out are very similar to the Elling e6. Sailing is a total other water experience. More in touch with the elements.
For that price you should get a Yanmar and Miele. Stunning boat, but my personal favorite is Amel 60. More protection when you cross oceans.
its all compromises. the HR 57 might not have the same protective center cockpit, but underway the interior space is much better suited for longer journeys than the Amel, in my opinion.
Beautiful yacht! I was wondering if that was a dinghy garage...?
Kind of. It's not really a good garage as you have to deflate the dingy to fit it in there. There are other sail boats that do have a real, dedicated dingy garage, mostly on bigger boats, but there are a few boats this size that have them.
Love the sailboats!!
@@drewster4834 It wasn't taken as criticism Drew, don't worry :).
Nick can you please calculate how many lousy Creaks you get per thousand pound?
Interesting video which varies from others.
Jazz head turns to the right and faces the camera with a slight pause..... NICE.....
