    This is very wholesome, what a great dynamic. Shout out to Ruri for being so on top of spoilers and respecting his playstyle etc. This is how we welcome new Monster Hunter people without making them feel like they're a noob or playing the game "wrong." Hell yeah.

    Also watched it live. Best podcast episode so far from the ones i watched. Perhaps because it was 2 ppl my age talking good old times and loving a game i love. A good feeling-podcast. Im a Ruri-viewer though so ill let this ep run in the background to give my view to where it belongs in the first place.

    I see me and Preach have the same cat experience. Even better is when you get stunned or paralyzed out of danger, the cat is keeping the monster busy. The cat rushes over to help. The cat stares you deep in the eyes while doing nothing as the monster careens toward you. The cat watches your hope leave your eyes. The cat keeps staring as you die.

      I've seen some streams where the hunter would be stunned, and the cat would rush to them, start playing the drum until the hunter inevitably gets incinerated by a fireball. Peak comedy

      I think there's a mod for MHW that "fixes" cat AI partially. Author states in the description that cats are actually very capable and developers nerfed them by cranking certain values down. The author also states that he could change values to be the way they "should" be, so that the cat will actually do what you expect it to do, but he considers that cheating. Meaning, even his mod that fixes cats does not fix them completely.

    Even at times where I disagree with him. Mike is talking crazy when it comes to shields. My other favorite weapons are Gunlance and Sword & Shield so his disdain for those is mindboggling. Enjoying his playthrough even with all the crazy things he brings up (calling mechanics "jank", ignoring things like dung, constantly assuming he was at endgame), so thank you for all this and obviously all the MH guides through the years that I definitely don't constantly come back to.

    Great video! Love seeing how new hunters feel about the games. I was a new hunter a little over a year ago and now I have around 500 hours in World/Iceborne and around 300 in rise. I am equally excited about Wilds as I was about the Elden ring dlc. So funny that Preach didn’t catch the hint about using screamer pods against Diablos in game lol

  • @Monsoonasaurus
    @Monsoonasaurus 11 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    Oh gosh, I remember my beginner, first ever MH play through in World. I basically jumped in on my own. I only had dial-up equivalent internet, living out in the country, so I only played single player. Got hard walled by Anja, Diablos, and Nergi (final fight). Each hunt took me 40-45 minutes without question. It was a hard clawed struggle looking back. I didn't use hardly any of the mechanics to my advantage, I barely even used the food buffs, because I would just forget. I had found a way to compensate by always running health boost on my armor, lol. On top of all of that, I chose the Hunting Horn as the weapon I liked most. I loved the move set, and I maintain the feeling of encore stun knockdowns is second to none. My original build was around Divine Blessing (for survival, lol), and Partbreaker (which I still love). Didn't even think about looking things up online until I timed out on Beotodus twice, like 2 months after Iceborne came out. By that time, I had DSL, and could play online a little bit, but yeah, it was a wild time, and it's a first play through I'll never forget.

    @Rurikhan I just started Monster Hunter World last Friday and I've never played Mainline Monster Hunter before, I put on some catch up armor on one character and got to the point of defeating Anjanath (and then I found out it was catch up armor), so It made me question (am I really playing well? or is it the armor?) so I made another character and with that character I didn't use the catch up armor and I got to the same point of fighting Anjanath, I had a harder time and took me a few extra tries, but I am glad I did it, because it gave me a better understanding and I would rather play without the catch up armor, so that I can properly learn (the second character showed me that I didn't learn anything from my first fight with Anjanath), after that I watched some of your reactions to Asmongold, and I really enjoyed how you explained things, and gave tips as soon as I had the time I went back on Monster Hunter world and tried to follow the tips (still struggling to get the rock to land on Anjanath) but I've learned to do aerial combat and to use my dual blade to roll through the monster, which is super cool and fun. Thank you for the tips, would love to see more reaction/tips videos from you, I feel like it really helps us new players out. A bit of a side note here but my first Monster Hunter game was Monster Hunter Stories 2 which I really really love, both these games are making me really enjoy the world and looking forward to wilds!

    • @yaine49
      @yaine49 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Pretty bold and brave for you to abandon defender armor(the "catchup armor") and repeat the progress. Hope your journey to become a monster hunter won't stress you out too much because Wilds is coming out in about a month and when it does, everyone currently playing World will probably all move there and there might not be much players left to help you tackle through the really hard endgame monsters or the raid monsters(I could be wrong as well)

    • @adrianunderwood5573
      @adrianunderwood5573 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@yaine49 I mean I only started last friday, and I restarted the same day, I am not really focused on completeling the game before Wilds comes out (Mainly because I don't have time with my current work situation), but playing it at a casual pace is ok fo rme, and I do have some friends that are either already playing Monster Hunter World or are starting soon, so if there's stuff I need teams for I can count on them when needed and vice versa. I'm liking the fact that Im not using the armor, because like I said previously, I noticed stuff about Anjanath that I didn't when I was just using the Defender Armor, like the way Anjanath behaves before it does certain actions where things I missed and ended up taking unnecessary damage on. So I am enjoying that more now then the first try. I will probably stress out a lot though at some point, but if I dont then, for me that means I dont care about the game to begin with.

I remember playing MHW and saying how cool it would be to ride a mount into battle and then Rise gave us a dog to do just that. I will miss those good boys. My favorite thing in all of monster hunter are the little details. At the end of iceborne there is a couple seconds during the cutscenes where Meowster Chef looks for approval from Grandma Chef and doesn't get it, he then looks sad. That was my favorite moment, it was Chef kiss level of detail

    Watched it during the stream, it was a great talk!
    Also, Mike's memory is really terrible XD He 100% knew about the tent before Barioth, I don't remember the exact quest he was doing when he learned but it was a quest in the Elder's Recess, and he did properly restock and eat after carting to Barioth in his 50 minutes try, he would NOT have made it all the way to the end of the timer if he didn't restock on potions and buffs, guaranteed.
    Not that this takes away from the opinion that you "lose something" when you learn you have essentially infinite healing and resources, but this just goes to show that even with that you can still have tension and excitement and struggle, because that's what happened to him in that hunt.
    This also proves how impactful that first Barioth experience was to him, he basically convinced himself that he must not have known about the tent at the time, because otherwise how could he have had such a huge struggle? But nah, it was just because Barioth is an actual wall to new players, and Mike's damage was complete crap (he knew about the tent, yes, but tenderizing and wall banging were lessons that came in the following day).

    I played bow before and tbh it's way harder than any melee weapon. You no cap get 1-2 shot shotted by almost anything in the late game and bows attack range is pretty short. You're always in range of a monster attack. So I think of it almost like a melee weapon. Meanwhile when I play anything melee I can tank like 4-8 hits it really makes the fight much easier. Yeah clear speed is better for bow but you need to play near perfect or you're dead. So I have respect for bow mains

    • @SoloOverlord
      @SoloOverlord 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @roddy864 This is all very true. People think the bow is easy because they see clips of people dunking the monsters way faster than any other weapon, but they don't realize what it takes to get to that point. For most of the end game content, you basically can't get hit, ever. And yes, you do need to stay in melee range if you want to do the most damage. Then you have to factor in specific hit zones, and if you can't consistently hit the moster in the correct hit zone, your dps falls off a cliff. I think all the weapons are great, just gotta defend any fellow bow mains on this one 😆

    • @Kriddle1229
      @Kriddle1229 3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      When you guys find out that your base defensiveness with melee weapons and bow is essentially the exact same it's going to blow your mind. Imagine playing for this long and thinking you are more squishy with the bow than melee lol.
      Melee Weapon Type will give you reduced physical damage, Ranged Weapon type will give you reduced elemental damage. - But these modifiers are very low. 70% compared to 100% phys damage reduction. Most DEFINITELY not enough to take 4-8 hits compared to 1-2. You might - MIGHT - be able to take one more hit. Likely not even that much, depending on hp/armor values. And the flip side is you're taking more elemental damage.
      If you are able to take more hits when you play melee, it's because you're either putting on armor that is more tanky, or you're putting in decorations that make you more tanky, and then not doing that when you play with the bow. Which is a CHOICE by the way. Melee HAS to do that. They don't even get the choice.

    For what it’s worth, I say you don’t need to restock because I am a World newbie, and I went through all of World and Iceborne storylines without needing to restock, never running low on supplies (because you can bring combine reserves) and never running up against the clock, though I also haven’t done Alateron or Fatalis yet (waiting on some people for that). I do think it’s a rubber band mechanic the devs use to push the envelope harder in the Master Rank version, but they still didn’t really push it that hard.

    oh yeah, isnt it when monster drop the "3rd" ammo, it means it reached the threshold of being captured, without limping or showing the skull on mini map. what I know is once it dropped the 3rd time ammo, its getting low and will limp any second and leave to sleep soon, since I dont do much capturing.

    14:31 Wow, I am so socially anxious that I barely did party content in WoW. Istarted playing right at the launch of Shadowlands. leveled 1 to 60 solo and then I did like 2 timewarp dungeons? Cant remember , but i felt so shitty cuz I didnt know what to do or how to pull properly as a tank. Same thing happened to me playing Elder Scrolls online. I messed up a few jumps holding back tye party and I just logged off and never did party content again after that. My fear and anxiety is wasting other peoples time. its not what will happen to me, its what im making everyone else go through.

    I think because I grew up on WoW starting from Vanilla, even if I was playing a class I wasn't particularly good at, or making mistakes in dungeons etc, it didnt bother me if people were being jerks to me, I knew I was making mistakes because I was learning, and if I got kicked it was like whatever, que for the next and keep going. I find most groups don't even say anything at all to begin with.

      Nope, they were both in the base game, and Mike has the base Iceproof one which is why he got the quest to upgrade it, he's just blind and has really bad memory.
      For Iceproof you get it from a delivery of HR Paolumu mats, and Dragonproof requires doing the Deviljho quest that you get after he appears for the first time (which means that it wasn't in the release version of the base game, but it was still added in a content update of the base game before Iceborne).
